CHAPTER 112 My One And Only Best Friend

  Dana

Hernando turned towards us, cradling his daughter in his arms. "Don't let that woman escape!" His order rang out with authority. "We must bring her to justice."

As I gazed skyward, I reached out to Ares through our mental link. "Please, detonate the bomb now. It's time to end this," I pleaded silently.

The men bound my wrists, but I made no attempt to resist. Their fate was sealed.

"Summon our healer!" Hernando's voice echoed as they led me away.

"Yes, Alpha!" His beta responded promptly.

In a swift motion, Ares launched himself at the men restraining me, sending them flying with powerful blows. He grasped my hand firmly, his resolve unwavering as the other men, including Hernando, looked on in shock.

"Damn," some of them whispered, while Hernando struggled to maintain his composure as he lifted Blaire.

"Release the woman," Hernando commanded to Ares, his voice laced with authority.

"Alpha, we can't proceed. We must retreat, or Blaire will perish," the beta murmured urgently, his tone tinged with concern.

"Damn it," Hernando spat furiously. "We'll be back for both of you!" he warned with seething anger.

Ares seized my hand and without a moment's pause, he bolted away with me, his determination unwavering. He swiftly removed the chains from my hands, freeing me from their restraint. I didn't question him; I simply followed his lead as we fled.

Then, without warning, an explosion rocked the area, sending both of us hurtling through the air. We landed on the ground together, Ares ensuring that my head rested against his chest, shielding me from harm.

I winced as pain shot through my back, eliciting a low groan from me. With effort, I opened my eyes, taking in the scene before me.

Rising to my feet, I turned to find Ares lying on the ground, his eyes closed. Concern etched my features as I reached out to touch his cheek, calling his name softly.

"Dana," his voice greeted me as he swiftly opened his eyes and rose to stand beside me.

"Are you alright?" he inquired, his gaze scanning my form for any signs of injury.

"I'm fine," I reassured him, meeting his gaze steadily as we both turned to survey the aftermath of the explosion in the forest.

As we surveyed the scene, the grim reality of what had transpired settled over us. Bodies lay scattered amidst the debris, and the members of our pack, though visibly shaken, wasted no time in fleeing the area, their expressions hardened with resolve.

Ares gently took my hand, his touch a comforting anchor amidst the chaos around us. "Let's go," he murmured, his voice steady as he guided me away from the devastation.

As I stepped into the dressing room, my mind still reeling from the chaos and destruction we had just witnessed, I was greeted by the sight of Ares standing shirtless, his muscles rippling beneath the dim light. Despite the gravity of the situation outside, my breath caught in my throat at the sight of him, a wave of unexpected desire washing over me.

I know I ensured my departure from the group once I had acquired all necessary provisions.

Dana?" He inquired without hesitation, swiftly shedding his garments save for his boxers upon my entrance.

As I approached him, we stood face to face, his gaze meeting mine. His hand gently grazed my cheek, drawing me nearer, and our lips met in a tender embrace.

It feels dreadful to be kissing him while everyone is literally furious with us, especially since the Black River Pack just took out a group of men.

His hands rest on my waist as I allow him to swiftly undress me with his large, nimble hands.

His touch against the wall sent shivers down my spine as he kissed my neck with a tenderness that melted my resolve. I closed my eyes, surrendering to the sensation, unable to contain a soft moan. "I've forgiven you," I murmured, but his passion eclipsed my words, leaving me breathless with desire.

Our bodies intertwined, stripped bare of any barriers, when a sudden knock on the door shattered the intimate moment, leaving me disoriented and longing for more.

"Who is it?" Ares's voice betrayed a hint of disappointment, his embrace reluctantly loosening.

"It's Ander. We need to have a meeting," the interruption came, disrupting the charged atmosphere with a sense of urgency.

Another day unfolded after the unforgettable events. I hadn't exchanged a single word with Ares since our encounter, as he was preoccupied with pack affairs. The atmosphere had swiftly returned to normalcy, with people resuming their routines.

The members of the pack exuded professionalism, seemingly unfazed by the recent events. However, their disdain was evident towards the notion of me becoming their Luna, a role I had never contemplated.

I'm determined to overcome all the traumas and fears that I harbor. Without hesitation, I venture to the side of the forest where the members of the Black River Pack met their end.

Their bodies lay buried beneath the trees, devoid of any ceremonial rites. It's a stark reminder of their lack of support, even in the face of our supposed alliance.

"Dana..." A familiar voice made me turn around, and to my surprise, it was Anna.

My heart quickened at the sight of my one and only best friend.

"Oh my Goddess, Anna!" I exclaimed as I rushed towards her, and we embraced each other tightly.

She hugged me back, gently patting my back.
