　　"Are you okay?" I asked, placing my hand on his shoulder. "What did that man say to you?" I stared curiously at him, scared that Berton must have said something to my child.

　　Why was Berton with my child in the first place? Could it be that he knew already that the child was his? I swallowed deeply, terrified by this revelation. I couldn't watch my child get taken away from me.
