　　She looked exhausted when she walked through the door.

　　The kind of exhaustion that didn't just live in her body—it had sunk into her bones. Hannah didn't even bother with her heels. She kicked them off near the entryway, dropped her bag by the kitchen counter, and made a straight line for the couch.

　　I watched her for a second from the kitchen, a glass of water in my hand. She was quiet. Too quiet.
