His voice thundered all over the building and the atmosphere at that time become tenser when I saw his shadow starting to approach me who was running as fast as I could. My pupils dilated, and I began to worry about myself, fearful that tonight would be my last night on this planet.
I finally made it out of the building, trees and green grass started to be seen as far as the eye could see; none of the students or guards were outside at that time, I was confused and scared when I found that I was alone.
Lara, where are you? She had promised to look for me as soon as she found my mother, but I had yet to see any evidence of her presence.
My legs started to lose power when I ran; running made me lose eighty percent of the fluids in my body, I then thought of a new way to save myself and found a small lake near the werewolf monument still around the training facility area.
Without thinking, I dashed toward the lake and dove in; the lake made my entire body feel like it was being stabbed by a sword. I was about to pull my body out of the icy water, but I had no choice but to survive in the icy water, which could kill me at any time; I'd rather die in icy water than be caught by the enemy; that’s what my father taught me when I was a kid; he said it was better to die ridiculously than die in the hands of the enemy.
When the vampire's step noises get closer to the lake, I hold my breath; that guy was a different vampire from the one who was chasing Lara and me back then; this one had bigger arms and muscles than the last one, which terrified me because I didn't have a wolf and was just a tiny girl in comparison to him.
Something caught him off guard, and I was relieved to see him pulling away from the lake; I took my half-drowned face off the lake when I saw him step away. The vampire began to pay attention to the noises coming from the bush; it turned out to be a female student hiding behind the bush.
“Oh, fuck, no” I tensely shook my head when I see the girl; I was still inside the lake at that moment.
The vampire pulled that girl out of the bush; he lifted her neck and almost choked her, that girl is the same as me, she got no wolf and was weaponless. Her eyes stared at him in fear, the girl breath panting; I could see her legs which did not even step on the ground shaking.
“I need to get out here and save her!” I said; was about to get out of the lake at that time but I did not make it.
A hand, wrapping mine as tight as it can. I thought that was a twig, turned out it was a girl’s hand; she stopped me.
“Do that if you don’t want to be alive in the next couple of minutes” A girl out of nowhere popped out of the lake and spoke to me; her face was half-drowned just like mine.
“We got no weapons” She whispered. “That beast could rip you into pieces!” She said.
“But she needed help!” I whispered but pressed my tone.
“Then the two of you will be dead as you get there” She responded in a whisper. “Just don’t move and put yourself first” She demanded.
With a heavy feeling, I discouraged my intention to save the girl who was in danger, and sure enough, without waiting for a long time, the vampire stabbed the poor girl’s neck with the bronze sword he was carrying; made me and the girl who was hiding in the lake almost die because of witnessing the murder right before our eyes.
The girl who was next to me covered my mouth and hers using her palms when the murder happened; I almost made a sound when I saw that incident but luckily, the girl next to me stopped it from happening.
I am used to war but we fought rogues who were unarmed, not like vampires, my people fought weak opponents. That is why none of us had ever been killed like tonight.
That poor girl’s body fell to the ground for a moment the vampire slit her throat as if the girl didn’t mean the vampire just threw her away. He returned to his main goal, to find the treasure keeper which they thought was me.
“Damn, he’s back!” I quickly drown half of my face back to the lake, by that time the two of us had already held our breath.
Even though my body was shaking from the icy lake water, I didn't dare to move that night; if I moved one inch from where I was standing, the sound of lake water could have attracted the attention of the vampire who was hunting us right now, and it could have killed us both.
The two of us are still waiting for him to leave, the vampire running his gaze around the lake, no lights surrounding the area thanks to the Moon Goddess, and he steps away from the lake after five minutes of hunting.
“Are we safe?” I tensely whispered as I got my face off the lake gently.
“I think so” The girl off her half-drowned face from the lake; the two of us making sure once again that the vampire is one hundred percent leaving the lake.
After ensuring that the vampire was no longer present, the girl and I slowly rose to the surface; the dark spot allowed us to escape from the vampire, who was no longer visible as far as the eye could see at the time.
“I think we were safe!” I declared as we get out of the lake.
We both were like wet raccoons when we came out of the lake, so wet and sticky, instead of fresh water, the lake contained disgusting moss and dry leaves. That girl then led the way; she led me out of the training facility area.
I questioned that girl about where she led us and why we fled the training facility rather than returning to find more students. It turned out that she knew where all of the students had gone; they were hiding in the woods.
We ran as fast as we could and tried not to make any noises while running, which is impossible for us to do because even butterflies make noises. The sound of our footsteps drew the attention of a friend who had lost track of us back then; the bastard has returned.
“Shit, that vampire is here!” The girl immediately grabbed my wrist and stopped the two of us from running; the girl, whose name I don't even know, quickly dragged me behind the tree; she sensed the vampire’s presence.
With our mouths shut and only heartbeats surrounding the quiet place, both the girl and I were on the verge of death as we waited for the vampire to appear at any time and kill both of us.
It had been minutes since we both hid behind the tree, but the vampire never appeared; not even his scent entered our nostrils at that time, only the night wind-causing noises.
The girl frowned as she began her question, her dismay visible on her face. “How did the vampire enter our world?” She inquired. “And what brought them here?” She ended her question.
“I have no idea how they can into the gate! But they coming here to get me” I responded and it took the girl by surprise.
“What do you mean?” She gets stuttered and her brow raise as she looked at me; there are lots of unanswered questions in her eyes that night. “What making them want you?” She inquired. “And how did you know they come here to get you?” The girl ended.
“I have no idea, they kept claiming about ‘the treasure keeper’ which means they are looking for something related to the treasure” I explained but the girl seemed not to understand.
“Shit, my bad! You have no clue about the treasure, you are not Red-Blood” I tensely throw a toothed smile at her and continued. “Never mind, we can talk about it later! Now I guess we need to move” I declared.
“Yes, you were right” The girl nodded and then the two of us stand up.
Before the girl and I could get away from the tree, the vampire appeared out of nowhere and startled us both; my body lifted when I saw him standing right in front of me, holding a bronze sword.
“Ah!”
I screamed when the vampire lifted me; he grabbed my dress and my feet slowly leave the ground.
“Get off her!”
A faint voice suddenly sounded not far from the place where the vampire found me, making him caught off guard.
