CHAPTER 19: The Bloodsuckers and the Sun

A relieved smile surrounded all of us the moment Omega Athena managed to open the car door; she got into the car and quickly looked for the engine wire to turn the car power under the dashboard.

My mother appeared to do this kind of thing when she was young; I bet she ever stole a car and ran away or something because she knew how to turn the engine on without a key, to answer my question I asked her without hesitation; doing so to relieve the tension that was surrounding the place at the time.

“I never expected you can do this kind of stuff! Did you ever steal a car or something?” I approached her who at that time was busy doing her job; chuckling.

My mother laughed softly after listening to my words, my questions dragging her to her past when she was living with her parents before the tragedy happen.

“I do this to your grandparents’ car! When I was sixteen, I dreamt to drive a car badly but they never allowed me so I stole their car at midnight and give it back before dawn, they never know until I told them” She chuckled but sorrow filled her face afterward.

“Mom, I am sorry, I didn’t mean to remind you of grandparents...” I said with slight grief in my voice; pouting as I look at her who was still trying to turn the car power.

My grandparents got killed by rogues when I was in my mother’s belly, I never met my grandparents but I saw some pictures of them in their house. The rogues killed them because they tried to protect my mother and me which still in my mother’s belly at the time we visited their house, the rogue tried to kill me who wasn’t even born but their mission is failed.

The rogues hate my father so much, the reason why they hate him is that my father slaughtered them causing the group weakened. Until now, the war never ended.

“Okay, get into the car guys, let’s go!” My mother got off the dashboard and commanded us to get into the car as soon as possible; she managed to turn the engine on and we are ready to leave Scarlett-Polis.

We all quickly leave the area where we were standing and take our seats in the car. I sat next to the driver’s seat, while my mother sat in the driver’s seat. Lara, Alexandra, and the female teacher sat in the back seat.

It was six in the morning at the time and there was no way vampires would go out at that time because the sunlight would kill them, which made us relieved. After all, we thought they would never be there, but we were all wrong.

The vampire walked out of the building after hearing the car engine noises, there are two vampires at that time, carrying weapons and their bodies full of blood, not their blood but the enemies’ blood.

“Shit! You must be kidding me”

My mother started to freak out when she saw them in the building, the engine that should have worked all of the sudden lose its power causing the car to fail to drift off.

“Oh Moon Goddess, they’re getting closer” The teacher warned my mother who was trying to turn the engine on in the front seat; all of us were panicking.

My mother’s feet kept on stepping on the gas, she tried to make the car run but it’s a shame her efforts were in vain, instead of running the car and leaving the place, we were trapped in the car.

She then pulled the engine wire from under the dashboard because she couldn’t turn on the engine and tried to put the wire back together, it turned out that the thing that made our car fail to run was that the cable my mother had installed was disconnected.

“We got no tape” My mother declared in dismay, by that time the vampire almost reached the parking lot. “Find something that could stick it together” She ordered.

All people in the car started looking for what my mother asked; our hands and feet trembled because of being chased by time.

“Whose car is this? Why they had no useful stuff here” Lara mumbled as she kept looking for something useful.

“Come on, they’re getting close” Instead of being calm, I made all people in the car even freak out. “Did you guys find something?” I tensely inquired; my eyes occasionally gaze at the vampires which were running even closer to the parking lot.

“Fuck, gotcha!” Alexandra found a paperclip underneath the seat and immediately gave it to my mother in the front seat.

Without wasting any more time, my mother quickly reconnected the dead wire, it takes time and the vampires are getting closer, thankfully the car powered back to working before the vampire reached our car.

The car drifted away from the parking lot, I felt relief because we finally can get back to Eden Spring and seeking reinforcements, inform the pack that we were under attack and sent them to Scarlett-Polis while the rest of us waited at home.

My back landed against the seat the moment the car lifted away, taking a deep exhale before something unexpected happen. The vampire, are not just a vampire, they are hybrids.

A vampire stood at the entrance gate of the training facility when the sun hit the ground, causing my mother to step on the brake and stop the car. That guy was the one who chased Lara and me last night, the one who Lara killed but turned out she failed.

“Shit, how it can be possible?” My mother was stunned when she saw the vampire and the sun.

“Don’t stop the car, step on the brake! Hit him” Alexandra exclaimed and it immediately woke my mother from her perplexity.

“Shit” With all might my mother stepped on the gas and our car ran towards the vampire that was blocking our road.

All of us screamed inside the car when our car ran full speed, the vampire still stick in the place he was standing, that bastard didn’t move.

“You will wake up in hell, bitch” My mother declared when our car is only three meters away from him; we were about to hit him with the full-speed car. My mother gave the vampire a huge smile on her face before we reach him.

Unfortunately, my mother did not make it, instead of hitting the vampire with the car, my mother almost got all of us in the car killed; the car almost fall into the river which was located right in front of the training facility, she stopped the car afterward but we have no choice but to continue our way.

“Where is he?” I wondered in dismay when my mother tried to pull the car out of the side of the road.

“Where is he?” I asked again in dismay; my eyes ran around the place so do all passengers in the car.

The vampire was gone and there is no sign of him but how it can be happening when my mother did not make it to hit him with the car? It makes us wonder about his whereabouts. The tension filled the atmosphere after that and all the passengers sat in silence while my mother still make efforts to pull the car away from the side of the road.

We finally make it and the car finally drive away from the side of the road but before we could drive away, the vampire jumped onto the car’s roof and startled all of us.

“Holy shit” Lara mumbled when she realized the roof of the car that was right above her head was dented; the vampire was on top of it.

My mother commanded all of us to shut the window the moment we found the vampire was up there, all of us quickly shut the windows and doors after that but it was useless because the car is not designed as disaster-resistant.

When my mother stepped on the gas as hard as she can, the car started to run a full speed at that time, making the vampire who was up there struggle, he then punched the front seat window.

His hand stormed into the car a full speed, the vampire grabbed my arm and made me almost leave the seat, to thwart his plan to get me out of the car, my mother slammed on the brakes and sent the vampire crashing onto the asphalt; his body landed in front of the car but it did not stop him.

“I have no clue what made that creature stronger than it used to be, but sure they came here to find something that could make them even stronger” The teacher who was sitting in the back seat declared; sure she talked about the treasure but no one knows about it yet.

He got up from the road and faced our car with fire in his eyes; he was mad and the vampire formed fists, running toward us a full speed afterward.

My mother knows what to do, instead of staying on the road, she ran the car to the vampire; the car was ready to hit him at that time.

He jumped onto the roof while the car reached him, storming his hand into the broken window he made earlier; the vampire got my hair and dragged me out of the car.

I whimpered in pain when I felt my hair was getting pulled by him, my scalp felt like it was about to leave my head but I did not stay quiet at that time; I tried to beat him by starching his arm which trying to get me out of the car. If only I had my wolf, he must be dead by now and I can beat him easily.
