CHAPTER 23: Resurrection Day of the Heir

The day I woke up from death was the worse day of my life, it has been a week since I lost consciousness and I found myself lying on my bed wrapped in a medical machine, and an oxygen tube around my nose.

My eyes slowly opened and the electrocardiogram machine which was standing next to my bed beat increased the moment I woke up, a nurse immediately ran into my room the moment she heard the machine’s noises.

“Doctor, she’s awake!” The nurse shouted from my room while checking on my condition and the doctor then came in minutes.

He injected me because my heartbeat was getting faster, my breath was blowing faster at that time and it was getting louder as if my soul was going to come out of my body.

“She got cardiac arrest!” The doctor said. “Please give me the pacemaker” He demanded and the nurse quickly hands him what he wanted, the doctor gets ready to electrocute my body.

The whole family started trying to get into my room as soon as they heard the news of my awakening, it turned out that they had been here since a week ago and were waiting for me to wake up soon; my father was one of those who tried to get into my room.

“Give us space, everyone, please wait outside” Another nurse blocked them from getting into the room. “Let the doctor do the job quietly” The nurse declared and all my family stepped away from the door; the nurse close the door after that and created a conducive environment.

The doctor does anything he could to save my life, he electrocuted me, injected me with a sedative, and never stopped doing that until my heart beat normally; I never ask for this.

My mother, I have no clue where she is, does she alive and waiting outside with our relatives? I can’t stop thinking about her when the doctor tried to keep me alive but nothing could save me except my mother.

When I think of her, my heart beat increased; it was beating abnormally and made the doctor terrified, they are afraid that it could damage my heart and make me stop breathing. Like it or not, the doctor has to shut me down.

I fell asleep in my last injection and I couldn’t feel my hands again after that; there is only blank sight as far as the eyes can see and I see my mom.

  “Mom”

Tears started to fall from my eyes down to my cheeks, the time when I see her felt so real, I couldn’t even notice the reality and the dream.

She held my hand and smiled at me when I stared at her with tears in my eyes, my mother wore a white dress that made her look like an angel, she was so pretty in that dress.

  “I missed you”

I declared; hoping my mother will say a word but instead of talking to me, my mother throw a sweet smile at me which made me miss her even more.

A beeping sound filled my ears and it ruined my sight, transforming me into a white light, and finally, I got my consciousness back.

My grandmother, a younger sister of my late grandfather from my father sat next to my bed, she held my hand while reading an old-red-blood holy book in her hand; I never thought she would come to step into this house again.

“Grandma” My first word after the accident escaped my lips.

She was the first person to oppose my father and mother’s marriage before. My grandmother wanted a perfect Luna for my father, not a girl from an ordinary family like my mother.

My father was raised by her after the death of his mother and even though she is my grandfather’s younger brother, my father has considered his aunt as if she was his mother and the number one person in his life. My grandmother never get married let alone have a descendant; only my father was the only heir to the bloodline of their family.

“Adrian, come here” My grandmother commanded my father who was out there to come into the room after my awakening; she glanced at me while her face was still facing the holly book; her glasses rested on her nose.

My father immediately stepped into my room the moment my grandmother told him to. After talking to the doctor about my condition, they finally can sleep in peace.

I never give time for my father to start his words the moment he arrived at my room, quickly, I asked him about my mother’s whereabouts and the people who were in the car with me at that time.

“Dad, where’s mom, where’s everyone?” I asked him in a serious tone; my eyes pointed at him and my heartbeat increased, I did not even control my breathing at that moment.

“Elora, baby, you need some rest” My father never answered my question; he changed the subject and didn’t look me in the eye when he spoke, his voice was smaller than it used to be, and never once had I heard him talk that way.

“I asked you a question! Where is my mother?” I raised my voice; fed up.

My grandmother hung her hand to give a signal to my father to stop talking, her eyes were still gazing at the holy book of the Red Blood, she took a deep breath and sure enough, that was not a good sign.

“After you feel better, we will come to see her” My grandmother declared.

“What do you mean we will come to see her? Talk to me clearly, grandma” I said.

“You will find out after you get better! Now, get some rest” She got up from her seat and shut the holly book right next to my face, I gulped in tension the moment I noticed her temper.

I might be living in everyone’s dream, but I live in a prison; never once in my life have I experienced freedom. I wish I was not born into this family.

A frown filled my face after that, I stared at my father in the hope he will answer my question but instead of answering it, he lead my grandmother to walk out of my bedroom. The two of them then leave me by myself and the medical machine.

I was pissed off, not at them but at me. How could I lose consciousness when I know I was the only one that my mother need on the day of the accident? And now, none of my family said something about her.

Without considering my decision and safety, I quickly got off the bed and removed all the wires in my body. I rolled over from the bed and started to step my feet on the ground; a coldness started to cover my soles afterward.

I slowly lifted my body, only using the remaining strength that I had. It was so hard for me to stand on my feet at that time, I lose balance and almost fell, but thankfully, the nurse came and save me from falling.

“Girl, you shouldn’t get off your bed” The nurse declared as she supported my body.

“Let me call the doctor!” She said.

“No, I’m fine, you don’t have to worry” I responded; trying to convince her. “I just need time to pull my strength back” I paused and took a deep breath. “I can do it by myself! Excuse me…”

The nurse removed her hand from me and stepped back but still watched me just in case I fall again. I then smoothed out my hospital suit and started to make my way to my closet.

Step by step started to leave the place where I stood, after reaching the closet I immediately pick something that could replace the medical suit that had wrapped around my body in the past seven days, I choose a black dress and a pair of red flat shoes.

“Would you mind?” I ran my gaze to the nurse who at that time was still standing near my bed.

Without saying any word the nurse leaves my room, she hesitated but can do nothing because she wasn’t in charge; the nurse shut my room gently, but I know she is calling the doctor afterward.

I wear the black dress as if I know I will attend someone’s funeral, it also could be mine because I feel I can’t make it to life without the people that I love by my side.

Someone knocked on the door when I looked at myself in the mirror and prepared myself, I assumed that was the doctor so I ignore it but turned out it was my grandmother.

“Elora, open the door!” She said from the outside of the room; her fist still knocking on the door.

I inhaled softly the moment I notice that was her, not the doctor. My father might never disobey my grandmother, but not me. She is also not my mother who can dictate to me what to do and what not to do.

“Elora Adrian, open the door” My grandmother shouted but I didn’t give a damn; I stay still in the place where I stood, looking at myself in the mirror.

Knowing that I didn’t listen to her, my grandmother commanded the guards to force get into my room; they stormed into it without my permission and that upset me because no one had ever broken my door before.

“I’ve told you to get some rest” My grandmother declared as she gets into my room. “Your father had never disobeyed my command the way you did my dear!” She said, pretty upset but my grandmother kept smiling.

“I’m not my father…” I responded and I turned back to see her; my grandmother stood next to my bed with two bodyguards next to her, she looked mad but still put a smile on her face.

“Ugh, come on… let me tuck you into your bed, love! We will talk about this tomorrow” My grandmother started her step and walked toward me. With a smile on her face, she was about to reach my arm. “Now, let’s get some rest” She smiled.

I walked backward and get away from her reach; it took my grandmother by surprise because the granddaughter that she knows never behaved that way, I was a good girl.

“What’s the matter with you, love?” She inquired as she raised an eyebrow and I suspected my grandmother’s temper start raising; she waited for my response that moment.
