CHAPTER 27: An Unexpected Guest

“The whole country is still grieving, mother”

Alpha Adrian tried to stop my grandmother to spread the news as he can but the Queen never listened to him.

“The grief will disappear after hearing this news”

Queen Hermione responded and she then started her attention back to me, with a smile on her face my grandmother stated her sentence.

“My granddaughter had been trained since she was a kid, sure she is the only capable candidate and no one can replace our place on the throne” My grandmother declared.

“So, sweetie, would you like to go with us and prepare yourself for tomorrow?” She inquired.

“I don’t think I can go, Queen…” I rejected her request and chose to stay in the chapel.

“I want to spend my time with Omega Athena because I will not see her again tomorrow...” I said.

My grandmother seemed to understand, she nodded even though it was hard for her to accept my rejection. My father then asked the Queen to give us some time, my grandmother then left the chapel with the guards and waited in the car.

Alpha Adrian looked tense while he watched the Queen walk out of the chapel, my father was afraid that my grandmother finds out that I got no wolf. The two of us waited until her shadow was not even in the chapel anymore before we start talking.

“Don’t say anything until I manage to stop the Queen from spreading the news!” My father pressed his words; I nodded in response and gulped in tension while I look at him.

“And don’t ever tell anyone that you got no wolves! We’ll see your mom if you did that” He declared.

“I promise I will not do that” I tensely replied.

“Good! I will be here at 6” My father kissed my forehead and walked toward my mother’s coffin after that, he said goodbye to her before he left.

My father finally left the chapel so does my grandmother who had waited for him in the car, now only the guards surrounding this place and the dim lights.

I get closer to my mother’s coffin and sit next to it, resting my cheek against the side of the coffin afterward to see her. She smiled, her face as white as snow so does the skin which was no longer filled with blood anymore. I was sad and being with her hits differently when I’m alone, the sorrow surrounding the place, and made tears fall out from my eyes.

The guard came and seeing me by myself gained his attention; he then stood near my mother’s coffin as he arrived; handing me something that I never touch before, the Red-Blood holy book.

“Excuse me, Lady Elora… Sorry for interrupting you” A guard seemingly near my age started to talk; he was older than me. “You will feel better after reading this” He handed me the holy book and I took it in pleasure.

“Thank you!” I declared as I took the holy book. “Are you on training or duty?” I inquired.

He told me that he just got transferred to Eden Spring after the attack that happen in Scarlett-Polis, the government kept a tight watch, they are afraid that the vampire are planning another attack.

I read the holy book after he was gone, never crossed my mind that I will read this book once in my life because the pack’s stuff is not my thing and I was forced to follow the pack’s rules.

“Well, mom, let me read some pages for you” I talked to my mother’s dead body in the coffin, opened the holy book with my hands, and start reading the first page.

“I don’t even know how to spell it, but I’ll try for you mom” I chuckled, shaking my head when I remembered my mother had to hit me first to make me learn about the Red-Bloods’ stuff and now I read the holy book with pleasure.

“Oi psychés mas eínai athánates, i theá tou fengarioú evlogeí tous lykánthropous kai tha eínai pánta”

(Our souls are immortal; the Moon Goddess blesses the werewolves and always will be)

When I read the first line, tears started to fall from my eyes and fell onto the holy book, the paper that had been filled with black ink was now wet because of my tears.

“It says our souls are immortal, but why did you leave me, mom?” I wondered and started to point my gaze to my mother with teary eyes; still hadn’t read the next line because I was too emotional to continue and my chest started to feel stuffy.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get any answer from my mother. She couldn’t answer even if she wanted to, bet my mother sees me now; talking to her dead body and laughing at me.

I then gathered strength by taking deep breaths, trying to get rid of the pain that stabbed my chest even just a little, I then continued my reading.

“Tha epikoinonísoume xaná mazí tis ótan tis leípsoume”

(We will get back to her when she misses us)

I scoffed after receiving my answer, knowing that everything in this holy book is a lie. The Moon Goddess is a favoritism creator; she left us powerless and perfected the Lycans; making them immortal and could heal them which is unfair to us.

“It’s bullshit! I don’t want to read this and pity myself” I immediately shut the holy book and called the guard to take the holy book back, he then came and took the book with him.

All the guards stood in their place; they watched the chapel with their life and my life was on them. When the night started, I who was accompanying my mother’s dead body felt sleepy; my eyes then shut following the quiet atmosphere surrounding the chapel.

The dim lights which were surrounding the chapel are now un-visible, the sun beat them the moment it gets into the windows and bothered me who was sleeping next to my mother’s coffin; my face planted on the side of her coffin and my arms became the pillow.

I groaned; wasn’t remembered that I was there all night. My heart was about to come out of my chest the moment I see my mother in front of me, blue feelings covered me after that.

“Can’t believe I get back to reality” I declared as I rubbed my eyes.

The chapel door then opened and startled me; my shoulder lifted the moment I heard the noises. I see the Queen and my father stepping into the chapel afterward, and immediately I got up from my seat.

Both of them approached me, my father wear his coat so does my grandmother who was standing next to him. My father then told me to get changed because our relatives and the royals will be arriving soon.

I nodded and quickly leave the place; my father brought me a funeral outfit which I know wasn’t mine but I kept taking the outfit from him and went to the chapel restroom.

When I opened the bag that my father gave me back then, I got surprised after figuring out that the funeral dress was my mother’s, I know that was hers because I ever saw a picture of her standing next to her parents’ grave when she was pregnant with me.

“Why he brought this when I got so many dresses in my closet” I sighed as I stared at the funeral dress; placing it on the sink afterward.

The sorrow that had been rent-free in me immediately vanished the moment I washed my face, the water swept those emotions and I took a deep breath when I watch my face in the mirror afterward.

If I wanted to reduce the pain that I had after losing my mom, I have to change the thing that caused it, the torture will end after I manage to stand on the throne and get the treasure.

After I get changed, my step left the restroom and went back to the chapel. All my relatives and the royals were already there the moment I stepped out of the restroom. They are wearing a coat made of their enemies’ fur and I felt sick the moment I see it.

“I will get rid of mine after the funeral” I declared and I started to make my way toward my father; I was the same as them, wrapped in the prey’s fur.

With a fake smile on my face, I approached my father who at that time was talking with some relatives and the royals. I take a position next to him while waiting for the funeral to be started.

The funeral ceremony started; they took my mother’s coffin to the altar and the priest started to do his prayers. All people lowered their heads down when those prayers escaped the priest’s lips; I was sitting between my father and grandmother at that time, right in front of the altar.

There are more than hundreds of royals attended the funeral ceremony inside the chapel and thousands of civilians were praying from the outside of the chapel, I was shocked the moment I ran my gaze to the left side of the chapel, Luna Mira was there.

“What’s in the world” I declared in a low voice; was surprised the moment I saw her.

“What she’s doing here?” I wondered from my seat as I kept pointing my gaze at her.

Eden Spring gate is always closed and we never allowed outsiders to pass into it but today I notice there are so many outsiders in the chapel, turned out it was my grandmother who invited all the outsiders including Luna Mira.
