The hell will come upon me tonight, after my uncle threw his suggestion, my father immediately commanded both Harrison and me to take our position. I couldn’t help but agree with him, rather than staying in the bed all night long.
Harrison and I went to the housing area after that, the guards walked us, and by that time the situation there was quite conducive.
The second Ascot River residential area was larger than the first where the Scarlett-Polis people lived. This location is right in the middle of a hill, which is often used as a hideout for rogues, and the power outages made it difficult for us to keep this location safe, there is no way for us to close our eyes tonight.
Both Harrison and I were surrounded by guards when we are on our way to the residential area, more than five guards are walking behind us. The two of us become the spotlight the moment after we reach the location.
All people were staying outside of their houses at that time, and they were still concerned because we still got no power source. As we arrived at the location, Luna Mira tells her people that there is nothing to worry about because the place was secured.
These people nothing like what was in my mind, I thought the Night-Blood is a powerful pack just like us. Turned out their people is none other than toddlers.
“Don’t let these people fool you” Harrison whispered to me, at that time we had already taken a position in front of someone’s house.
All the houses here are only four meters away from each other, they are facing each other and the only thing that separated the houses was just three meters street which rises to the last house. The residential area is not that large, what made it large is just the empty land that surrounds the hills.
“What you said is nonsense!” I responded in a low voice, I didn’t point my gaze at him at that time but looked straight to the front, keeping my feet on the ground and standing straight up.
My cousin then spilled the tea that he heard from his father, Harrison told me that the people which Luna Mira brought here is not her warrior but just regular Rockwood citizen which know nothing about fighting, she left her pack in Rockwood to clear the town so that they can take over after that.
“Guess they had the same battle as us! But relax, cousin! I will not get rid of you if I win” Harrison smirked.
The Night-Blood took the opportunity when their city was invaded by vampires, they wanted to take over the city and make their city the same as Eden Spring, that’s why Luna Mira sent her son to the training center to increase his skills.
After her husband dead, the Night-Blood turned weaker. They got no votes from Rockwood people that were important to make them become the town leader, too bad their shine was gone after the death of her husband, it become torture to them because they were the more powerful pack than any of us back then.
“My father’s informant told him about this… and he told the queen afterward! I bet your father knows about this too” Harrison said. “I told you this because I don’t want you to get closer to one of them! We’re still cousins, even if I hate you… I don’t want you to get fooled! Our battle is about the throne, not between families! So, trust me, Elora!” He ended.
What Harrison said sounded convincing but I have to make sure by asking my father about the information that I just got from him. Harrison might trick me because he doesn’t want me to win the vote by helping these people more than him.
I nodded and said nothing. I was trying to make him believe that I trust his words and my silence left him to smile, Harrison then started again. “It’s great that you’ve grown up and chosen to trust me! No more fight between cousins” He convincingly declared, Harrison then ran his hand toward me.
“Stop doing that, you are not Christopher! I never like you” I rolled my eyes, refusing to shake his hand.
“Well, then let me become the second Christopher” Harrison responded, his hand still hanging at that time, he waited for me to shake his hand.
My cousin acted weird, at that time I still stand in my stance and not shaking his hand because if I did, Harrison will think that I give him a chance to be closer to me as my cousin Christopher does and beat me from inside.
He then started again, “Look Elora, I’m not here to fight” Harrison sighed, he then removed his hand from the air and placed it back in the place it belong.
“We barely talk, I know that! But you know, after you ask me about how I felt earlier, I know you’re not that bad and I’m here to make things right with you” Harrison stated, and then he ran his hand closer to me again.
“So, please… Shake my hand and become allies! We fight as heirs, not cousins” He gave me a convincing look as he waited for me to shake his hand.
What he did was suspicious and I can’t trust him that easily, but in order to make my way to the throne easier, I have to shake his hand to make him trust me.
“Well, okay… as you said, Harrison” I smiled but that was a fake smile, I then shake his hand.
Now the cousin that I hate the most becomes an ally and that is what he thinks I believe, but the truth is, I believe this was just a trick, Harrison never meant to do this, especially to become an ally with Elora Adrian.
When we both shake hands, Alpha Drax comes with his men and chooses the spot right in front of us. The atmosphere suddenly turned tense the moment he was coming, this place was quite comfortable before he got here and I felt uncomfortable after his arrival.
At that time Luna Mira had already commanded her people to get back to their houses and get some rest, tomorrow is a new day for them so the street was already empty when he came.
All of us are surrounding the residential area, there are so many guards as far as the eyes can see and we are all just ten meters away from each checkpoint. Too bad Luna Mira’s son’s checkpoint is right in front of my group, it ruins my mood to be on guard.
“Sir, can we find another empty place? I felt bored here and maybe moving to a different place could make my feelings disappear” I asked the guards in order to get away from Alpha Drax.
Then one of the guards told me that there are no more empty places around the residential area because other guards and the Night-Blood had already filled those spots. Like it or not, I have to stay here facing Alpha Drax who does not even think I exist.
Elora Adrian is not a fool. My family never taught me to become a coward. I am powerful and nothing could bother me, especially a wolf-like Alpha Drax. I told the guards that we will stay here no matter what happens, putting my head in the clouds afterward.
We stood in silence while all of our eyes ran around the place, I was observing the danger that might come, but it’s been two hours we stood here, and none of the vampires or rogues showed their faces.
“I’m twisted! I need to sit” Harrison groaned.
“What a coward!” I laughed the moment he pulled away from our checkpoint, Harrison went to someone’s house behind us and sat on the lounge seat on the terrace, he was there by himself because the guards had to keep on watch with me.
Harrison didn’t give a damn but rested his back against the cozy lounge seat, he sneered at me with his tongue before landing his head against the seat back.
“I don’t care what you said as long as my father is not here I’m free to do what I want!” Harrison said as he threw me his middle finger, he stuck out his tongue again.
My cousin then tucked himself to sleep, arms crossing around each other, and head landed on the seat back, he was in a good position to lose consciousness. Harrison looked silly and I could not help but chuckled seeing his behavior, both of us have never been this close to each other like tonight and he’s not that bad though, he’s funny.
The guard who stood next to me then told me if I felt tired and want to get some rest, I am free to join Harrison, but with my head above the sky, I told them that I don’t need that even though I couldn’t felt my feet at that time.
With a smile on my face, I stand on my spot, my face straight facing whatever was in front of me that night, whether it was Alpha Drax or not.
