CHAPTER 74: What Appears To Be Right Is Not Always So

Alpha Adrian’s smile become my first view as I stepped my feet on the ground, sure, something good must be happening there, he finally got the desire of relocating the Night-Blood pack to Eden Spring and made the council obey him.

I asked nothing at that time, after telling them a lie I went straight to the kitchen to carry out the thing I said earlier. I walked at a low speed so that maybe I could hear their conversation, unfortunately, my father smelled my intention; he stopped me before I could reach the kitchen.

“Are you sure you want to hear nothing?”

“I know you, Elora… Come here!”

I turned back after that, flashing them a tooth smile and chucking. Walking back to the main room of the Red-Blood palace, I then faced both my father and the queen; I was ready to hear the news.

“So, how was the meeting?” I inquired.

My father then told me that everything went great and the council could say nothing but agree after Alpha Adrian threaten them, at that time I see my grandmother is not happy with that, her face was straight just like her hair and I understand her concern, welcoming new people is not easy. Not only they could endanger us at any time, but they also accelerate the depletion of our supply.

“I ordered Beta Benjamin to pull out from Ascot River earlier in the morning… I bet they will get here soon!” My father said.

The queen said nothing but nodded, my father didn’t notice that his aunt is not happy with the decision to welcome the Night-Blood into this city, he was blinded.

My grandmother then left the location and went straight to her office to clear up her mind, I watched her leave at that time and felt sorry for her, this is the first time my father had a rebellion toward her.

This is inversely proportional to my father, instead of feeling guilty for betraying someone who looks up to him more than anything, he was very excited to welcome the people who don’t even have our blood.

I regret my father’s attitude, even though he meant well by helping those people but he should have asked my grandmother first before deciding to against the council.

After ending the conversation, my father and the guards walked outside to do their job, they were preparing for the Night-Blood arrival, setting up empty settlements around Eden Spring’s area. He asked me to go with them but I told him I wanted to stay. I rejected to go not because I disagreed with him, but because I want to comfort the queen.

I went to the queen’s office after that, knocking on the door and waiting for her to allow me to step into her private area, I stood next to the door at that moment.

“Who’s there?” My grandmother inquired from inside the office.

“It’s me, grandmother” I responded; the queen then pleased me to come in.

I sat right in front of her after getting into the office, her face was as straight as what I saw before, she was still upset but don’t want to share her feelings. A cold-blooded queen like her should not share her weakness with a seventeen years old girl who had no experience like me, she shut her mouth and waited for me to start; her eyebrow raise.

“I am here to check up on you…” I tensely grinned and kept continuing. “What Alpha Adrian did today has never been done by anyone in our family and I apologize for his behavior, I’m sorry that he hurt your feelings...” I said.

“Nothing can hurt me, Elora! But thank you for your concern, I appreciate that” The queen replied with a huge smile on her face but I know that was a fake smile. “Never been a mistake I have chosen you as the heir, we both are on the same path” Her voice turned serious.

  “Thanks, grandmother…” I blushed.

“I want you to do something for me! No rejection” Queen Hermione started to place both of her elbows against the desk; her eyes looking at me seriously.

“Yes, grandmother, if I can I will” I replied with tension.

“You have to!” The queen raised her voice; I nodded and tell nothing against her, the queen sounded serious at that moment.

My grandmother then told me about what I should do for her and without rejection, I agreed with the thing she command, I then left her office after that and went to my room.

Resting my back against the door and my chest rising and falling as I arrived at my room, I locked the door so that I can settle myself down. Things started to get difficult for me and I need a break.

Making my way to the bed, I throw my body to it afterward, my face planting to the bed and the palms of my hand start to squeeze the sheets. Finally, there is a little silence in my life and coziness.

I have been surrounded by drama since I got back from Scarlett-Polis, but in fact, the drama started after I met Alpha Drax. The question in my mind is whether our meeting brings bad luck; time will answer it.

When I brood over on my bed, the bedroom door gets knocked by someone, indicating there is somebody outside of my room waiting for me to get out. After hearing the door sounds, I immediately got off the bed, thinking that was my father who was knocking on the door.

“One second!” I said as I got up from the bed, I walked toward the door afterward.

And how surprised I was to see it wasn’t my father that knocked on the door, turned out it was Beta Benjamin.

“I didn’t expect you will be here earlier” I declared and then I hugged him as thanks to the Moon Goddess for protecting him. “Do you hear about the news?” I inquired and released myself from him, looking at him with a frown after.

“Yes, the vampire killed King Amos and Alpha Adrian bringing more people who could jeopardize our supplies, I’ve talked to Queen Hermione, we need to speed up the day of your coronation so that we can fix this” Beta Benjamin sighed. “But first I need to prepare for your training, you need your shape!”

“How can? There are still no plans to build a new facility in Eden Spring” I replied.

“Ugh, no worries, the queen and I got plans!” Beta Benjamin smirked. “You want to come with me? I will visit the gate to check the development of the newly installed defense system! I see you got nothing to do” He said.

  “Sure…” I replied.

The two of us then walked away from my room, we went downstairs and immediately made our way out of the Red-Blood palace. Beta Benjamin and I got into the truck after arriving at the driveway, at that time we only use one truck because we had no guards with us, moreover, we don’t need them in Eden Spring because this place is secure.

After driving for tens of minutes, Beta Benjamin and I arrived at the location, I see the guards installing new high-voltage electricity around Eden Spring’s main gate.

The electricity danced around the gate and anyone could see the high voltage electric light with the naked eye, I am pretty sure the vampire will not dare to cross the gate. Not only the high voltage can shock them, but the guards will also shoot them before they could even get closer to the gate. They will think twice before stepping closer to Eden Spring.

“Wow, this is a new brand high voltage defense?” I inquired, by that time Beta Benjamin and I were still making our way toward the gate, and we parked the car in the driveway not far from the location.

“I don’t think so! These devices had stored in the armory years ago, we use them in an emergency only, you know, it drained more city power source! Like it or not, we might cut off some cities’ electricity to make the devices work” Beta Benjamin explained.

“Is that not dangerous for residents? I mean cutting the power could send people into a panic, and vampires could sneak into this place” I said.

“Eden Spring is circled by electrical defenses, the guards also stayed all night at the gate! There are no holes for those bastards to get into Eden Spring” Beta Benjamin convincingly stated.

“Yeah, what you said has some truth in it! Sorry, I’m just kind of concerned” I chuckled.

“No need to worry, you only need to do what the queen said! Everything will run perfectly if we are on the same path, please, don’t mess this up!” Beta Benjamin smiled.

“Huh, I will not” I chuckled; shaking my head after that.

Beta Benjamin smiled at me before starting his words again, at that time the two of us almost reach the gate.

“Glad to see we were on the same path! Now I understand why Queen Hermione chose you as the next leader of the Red-Blood’s pack”
