CHAPTER 62 Breaking The Illusion

  LYDIA'S POV

Through the pain, I suddenly felt a strange sensation coursing through my body. Strength began to return, a warmth that started at my core and spread to my limbs. I opened my eyes but still saw the ugly, ruthless face of Alpha Cameron. Despite the torment he inflicted, there was a strange tingling sensation in my body, the same one I felt when I first met the Miller brothers.

  Wait!

Could it mean they are here?

I closed my eyes and let out a shaky breath. Focusing on that connection, I called out their names once more, "Evan... Brandon..."

Suddenly, Alpha Cameron's grip on me faltered, and his cruel smile turned into a snarl of frustration. The world around me seemed to shift, the edges of my vision blurring and shimmering. This sudden change jolted me into a crucial realization: I was in my own mind, facing my worst fears. This was a hallucination, an illusion designed to break me.

This realization empowered me. I had control here. No matter how real the hallucination felt, it was still just an illusion. I took a deep breath, drawing strength from within. It was time to face these fears head-on and break free from this nightmare.

With every ounce of willpower I had, I called upon my wolf. The connection to my inner self surged, filling me with a sense of purpose and power. My body began to shift, my senses sharpening as I embraced my Lycan form.

Alpha Cameron's sinister smile wavered as he watched my transformation. "You think you can escape me?" he sneered, but his voice betrayed a hint of uncertainty.

I focused on the warmth and strength emanating from my wolf, pushing back against the fear and pain. The illusion around me trembled, the darkness receding as I stood taller, more confident.

"I know I can defeat you. You are nothing, Alpha Cameron!" I spat, defiance ringing in my voice.

He laughed, a chilling sound that echoed through the dark chamber. "Oh really? Then maybe the way I punished you was not enough for you," he said, charging toward me with a feral intensity.

Summoning every ounce of strength and resolve, I shifted into my wolf form, taking him by surprise. My wolf, fierce and powerful, growled menacingly, ready for the fight. Alpha Cameron didn't back down; he too shifted into his wolf, a hulking beast with eyes filled with malice.

The air crackled with tension as we circled each other, each waiting for the right moment to strike. His wolf lunged at me, claws extended, and managed to tear a chunk out of my leg. The pain was excruciating, but I pushed it aside, knowing that in this hallucination, I had control. This was my mind, my world, my fear, and I was ready to fight him.

I focused on the wound, willing it to heal quickly. To my satisfaction, the gash closed up, the pain dissipating as if it had never been there. Alpha Cameron's wolf looked at me in shock, his eyes wide with disbelief. I smirked, feeling a surge of confidence.

"My hallucinations, my rules," I growled, my voice echoing with power.

With newfound determination, I charged at him, my wolf's body moving with a speed and agility that left him scrambling to defend himself. I was relentless, attacking with precision and strength, my movements fueled by the knowledge that I was in control.

Alpha Cameron's wolf tried to retaliate, but I was always one step ahead. I ducked under his swipes, dodged his bites, and countered with powerful blows of my own. Each time he thought he had me, I willed my body to heal, leaving him increasingly frustrated and desperate.

"You can't win here," I taunted, my eyes blazing with determination. "This is my mind, and I'm stronger than you."

He snarled, his fury palpable, but I could see the fear beginning to creep into his eyes. I pressed my advantage, launching a series of attacks that left him reeling. With a final, powerful lunge, I knocked him to the ground, my jaws clamping down on his throat.

He struggled beneath me, but I held firm, my grip unyielding. "You will never hurt me again," I growled, my voice filled with unwavering resolve. His form began to waver, the illusion breaking apart under the force of my will.

And I knew I was now free not only from him but also fear of him.

I turned into my human form and looked around me, I could feel the presence of Evan and Brandon but couldn't see them.

But then suddenly a shutter opened and I fell in it, something was pulling me really hard and I didn't know where will I end up?

When I fell, not surprisingly I wasn't hurt, I looked around and I felt I was in a different reality because this wasn't the place where I came for the assessment.

I struggled to get my bearings, trying to make sense of my new surroundings. The place had an ethereal quality to it, as if it existed outside of normal space and time. The air was thick with an unidentifiable energy, and the landscape was a strange mix of shadows and light, shifting and changing as I moved.

I took a tentative step forward, feeling a sense of unease. I could still feel the presence of Evan and Brandon, their warmth and strength grounding me, but they were nowhere in sight. My instincts told me to stay alert; this place felt dangerous, unpredictable.

"Evan? Brandon?" I called out, my voice echoing strangely in the vast emptiness.

No response. The silence was unnerving, amplifying my sense of isolation. I had to find a way out, but first, I needed to understand where I was and why I had been brought here.

As I walked, the ground beneath my feet shifted, transforming from solid earth to soft, spongy material that seemed to pulse with each step. The sky above was a swirling mass of colors, constantly changing and disorienting. I kept moving, driven by a sense of urgency and the need to reunite with my mates.

I turned and saw a familiar figure battling fiercely—Evan. His movements were precise but desperate, as if he were fighting not just an opponent but his own inner demons. Beside him, Brandon was locked in a similar struggle, his face contorted with determination and pain.

It became clear to me that Evan and Brandon had joined me not just to save me but because they, too, were caught in their own versions of this nightmarish realm. Their fears and doubts had manifested, trapping them in a cycle of torment. They had helped free me from my illusions, and now it was my turn to return the favor.
