Emma's POV
I wake up to the sound of Charlotte's voice, and my eyes snap open in surprise to find her standing at the foot of my bed, a mischievous grin lighting up her face.
"Charlotte, what are you doing here?" I ask, my voice laced with confusion as I sit up in bed.
"I'm bored, Emma," she replies, her green eyes pleading with me. "Can we hang out together in the pack house's garden? It's so big and beautiful, and I want to explore it with you."
I hesitate, my mind racing with thoughts of whether Matthew would permit such an outing. After all, he's the Alpha, and I can't do anything without his permission.
"Um, Charlotte, I don't know if that's a good idea," I say cautiously, chewing on my bottom lip. "What if Matthew does not like me roaming around so freely?"
But Charlotte shakes her head, her brown curls bouncing with determination. "No, Emma, we can ask him directly. Come on, let's go find him!"
I feel a pang of uncertainty gnawing at my insides, remembering the warmth of Matthew's gesture from last night. It had been so comforting, yet it had also stirred up strange feelings within me that I couldn't quite understand.
Because of her initial arguments, I believed he's an asshole. But he let me use his computer, and also took care of me. I did not expect all of that from him. Back in my pack, I heard he was an evil man who wanted to take over our pack, and rule it like a tyrant, oppressing our people. Yet so far he has shown no signs of being a tyrant.
"Alright, let me freshen up first." I get up from the bed, and head to the bathroom. When I step out, I find Charlotte sitting on the couch waiting for me.
"Are you done?" she asks with a sweet smile.
Despite my hesitation, Charlotte's persistence wins out, and before I know it, I find myself following her out of the room and down the hallway towards Matthew's office.
As we approach the door, I feel a knot forming in my stomach, my nerves getting the best of me. But Charlotte gives my hand a reassuring squeeze, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Don't worry, Emma," she whispers. "Everything will be fine. Let's go ask him together."
Charlotte and I step into Matthew's office, and I can't help but feel a little nervous. Matthew looks a bit tense, but he's still as handsome as ever. What catches my attention, though, is the pair of glasses perched on his nose. It's the first time I've seen him wear them, and they make him look even hotter than usual. They add this whole new level of intensity to his gaze, like he's seeing right through you.
As we enter, I notice Matthew's expression shift slightly. His brows knit together in a faint frown, and for a moment, I wonder if we've interrupted something important. But then, his expression relaxes, and he simply looks curious as he watches us enter.
His dark hair is tousled just right, and the sleeves of his shirt are rolled up, showing off his muscular forearms. I have to admit, I've never seen him look more attractive than he does right now. It's like he's the epitome of hotness, and I can't tear my eyes away from him.
But then I remember why we're here, and I glance at Charlotte, who's standing beside me, fidgeting with her fingers. "Go on, Charlotte. Ask him," I encourage her.
Charlotte takes a deep breath and clears her throat. "Um, hey Matthew," she says, her voice a little shaky. "Emma and I were wondering if we could explore the garden together. It's such a nice day out, and I thought it would be fun."
Matthew's tense expression softens as he looks at his little sister. "Of course, Lotte. But I'll have someone watch over the two of you," he says, his voice gentle. "You and Emma can go explore the garden. Just be careful, okay?"
Charlotte's face lights up with excitement, and she nods eagerly. "Thanks, Matthew!" she exclaims, already turning to leave.
As we make our way out of the office, I can't help but steal one last glance at Matthew. His glasses may be new to me, but they only add to his charm. And right now, seeing him be so nice to Charlotte, I can't help but feel a little flutter in my chest. Maybe there's more to him than meets the eye.
As Charlotte leads me out into the garden of the packhouse, I'm blown away by how beautiful it is. The garden is like a paradise, bursting with colors and smells that make me feel alive. Flowers of every color cover the ground, swaying gently in the breeze, while tall trees offer shade and shelter.
Charlotte shows me around, pointing out all the cool spots in the garden. We pass by a fountain, its water sparkling in the sunlight, and a pathway lined with sweet-smelling jasmine vines. Everywhere I look, there's something new and amazing to see.
But the best part is definitely the conservatory. Tucked away in a quiet corner, it's like stepping into another world. The glass walls shine in the sunlight, and inside, it's warm and humid. There are all kinds of exotic plants, with big leaves and bright flowers that make me feel like I'm in a jungle.
