Michael Pov
"Michael, I need to sleep!" Ava complains sleepily on the couch. "It's almost three in the morning. I'm exhausted, I promise to tell you everything tomorrow!"
"Just five more minutes, little sister, I promise to let you go after that. I just can't believe you're really alive, here, right in front of me!" I reply with emotion in my voice. My eyes can't believe what they see in front of me.
My sister and I are still in our party clothes that we returned in just a few hours ago. Mom, when she opened the door for us and saw Ava, fainted with the event. Dad was quick to hold her so she wouldn't fall.
"Son, let Ava go rest. She'll be here in the morning," Tim, my father, orders with a heavy voice of fatigue, but authoritative nonetheless.
Ava opens a welcoming smile with the order, and I can't do anything but comply with the request. I go with Ava to the second floor of our house, my body is tired and tense. The party was a lot to take in, sleeping will do me good.
"Tomorrow, I want to know everything that happened," I ask Ava, pointing my finger at her with half-closed eyes. My younger sister nods her head and closes the door behind her.
My room is a few meters across the hallway. My steps are heavy, and I drag myself tiredly towards the room. First, I take off my jacket and tie, kicking my dress shoes away.
"Emma looked beautiful today, don't you think?" Rolf, my wolf, declares within me. I grunt discontentedly at the mention of Emma.
"She looked damn fine, Rolf!" I grumble in response as I take off my dress shirt and boxers. "That tight dress, her thighs. Man, she looked hot! And her scent, then? My Goddess, what a wonderful female scent!"
I flop onto the bed with a tired thud, my mind perfectly capturing Emma's movements. Every detail of her dress, her slightly more defined body, the small but firm breasts that I found delightful to play with when we fucked. My mind brings back the memory of when I fucked Emma for the first time, on the same night I marked her as my mate.
"I wonder if Matthew has fucked her yet? Has he marked her already?" I ponder to Rolf thoughtfully.
I looked over every inch of Emma's body, there was no scent, no mark indicating that she is indeed Matthew's mate. That bastard is just using her, screwing her without any commitment.
My wolf doesn't respond, simply growls with jealousy at the possibility. The one who felt the pain of the breakup between me and Emma the most was Rolf, my wolf, he misses his mate, Emma's wolf.
"What was her name again?" I mentally ask Rolf, who once again growls aggressively at my question.
"Accalia!" The answer comes out short and angry, and I roll my eyes. Always so temperamental, just like me.
I sleep fitfully, Emma invading my mind in my dreams. Memories of when I fucked her mix with the party Emma, laughing and having fun with two other assholes. I sleep only a few hours before fully waking up, the bad mood settling in. I realize by the clock that it's already eight in the morning.
"Shit!" I grumble before heading to the shower to take a bath.
The smell of food fills the first floor of the house, my stomach growls, and a headache starts to form because of the drinks I had last night. The hangover is definitely going to hit hard.
Entering the kitchen for breakfast, Ava and my parents are already at the table starting the meal. My heart races at the sight of my sister, the certainty that it wasn't just a drunken illusion last night warms me. I walk towards her with quick steps and hug my younger sister tightly from behind by the shoulders, rest my head on her shoulder, and give her a wet kiss on the cheek.
"Ava! It's so good to have you home." I declare before letting her go. My sister lets out a wonderful laugh, which even my father, Tim Davis, smiles at. "Since you died, well, I mean. Since your supposed death, we missed you every day," my voice comes out a little choked, tears wanting to come out.
I sit next to my sister at breakfast. Since she had been declared dead, my parents and I have been in heavy mourning. Silence reigned over us, something that didn't happen when Ava was with us. She was always the light of our lives, the joy of the family.
"Daughter, tell us what happened to you. How did Emma do what she did?" My mother, the Luna of our wolf pack, asks with a voice full of expectation.
I also watch Ava with curiosity. Emma made a proud speech about how she had rescued my sister, leaving me and my family looking incompetent and useless, but I still can't believe a word Emma said.
"Do you remember my college friend, Emily Golden?" Ava asks, and I try to pull the face of the girl into my memory. Ava was always very friendly and sociable, in college, she had so many friends that I was impressed at how she still had time and willingness to go out with Emma. "I remember going out with her for a hike in her wolf pack, the Lone Mountain Pack, and I don't know what happened after that. My memory is still confused. I had many blackout periods during the months, I felt like something was wrong with me, you understand? As if I didn't belong to that place, that life."
My mother reaches out and takes my sister's hand with care and tenderness. "It's because you didn't belong, my star." Mom confirms with a gentle voice.
"So, everything Emma said at the party, the way she rescued you, was it all true? Did Alpha Matthew help her?" I ask, still incredulous.
"Yes, brother. Emma and Matthew went to Emily's house, and gave me back my necklace," Ava puts her hand on her neck, where the necklace is. "Matthew was a respectful, kind, and gentle alpha with me." A passionate smile appears on my sister's lips.
That makes me reflect on the horrible things I said to Emma. Seeing her yesterday with Daniel, the son of Alpha Peter Garcia of the Direwolf pack, the way she smiled, laughed, and danced so comfortably and sensually with him, made me remember when it was just us two doing that. Even more so that it made even Alpha Matthew want to ask her to dance, and they almost had sex on the dance floor with that tango music.
"I need to apologize to Emma. I was a complete idiot with her," I admit with shame.
"I think that's a great idea, brother. After all, you two were meant for each other. Unfortunately, there was this tragedy that separated you, but the Moon Goddess will have mercy and bring you two back together, I'm sure of it." Ava declares with enthusiasm.
"Will you help me, sister, with Emma? I don't think she wants to see me even painted gold," I say with concern. My sister Ava holds my hand over the table and squeezes it gently.
"Always, Michael. Always."
