Emma's pov
"When is the meeting going to take place, Alpha Emma?" Faylen asks, anxiety lacing her voice. Her eyes shine with a mix of expectation and worry.
After my lunch with Matthew, where we had an extensive conversation about my goal to unite all the wolf packs in a meeting, I returned to Stonehaven Pack to organize this with my own pack. The conversation with my mate, Matthew, had been long and full of ideas, filling me with hope but also apprehension about making everything work.
I am gathered again with my closest group, all of us now seated at the round table in the meeting room. The room is filled with the welcoming warmth of the late afternoon. Sunlight pours in through the large windows, illuminating the aged wood of the table. The chalkboard with the names of the wolf packs still stands there, covered with scattered words that capture the complexity of our plans. The atmosphere is heavy with the responsibility and anxiety of what we are planning to do.
"In a week. Matthew and I believe that will be enough time to organize everything here within Stonehaven Pack to receive all the wolf packs," I inform seriously, feeling my heart race in my chest. The pressure of responsibility weighs on my shoulders, and I try to adjust my posture in the chair, attempting to maintain my composure as a leader.
The light of the late afternoon blends with the tone of the wooden table, creating soft shadows that dance on the deep wine-colored walls. In front of us, my worries begin to swirl in my mind, along with the insecurity that I might be making a mistake. However, each look from my closest members seems to reflect the opposite of my doubts and fears. They reflect confidence and courage, something that seems to be slipping through my fingers.
"Has the call for the meeting been made?" Jordan asks worriedly, his fingers drumming rhythmically on the table, almost as if he is trying to find answers in the sound.
"Not yet. Matthew will come here so that we can arrange the best strategy for sending out the call for the meeting. That's also why you are here, to help me with this," I declare with a more enthusiastic voice, trying to show good spirits with this new stage of our goal.
Amelia and Kylian smile in my direction as a form of encouragement for my declaration. The two are sitting next to each other, and this time there is no teasing from them. We are all serious, focused, waiting and thinking about how to resolve this new stage. The feeling of unity and purpose fills my heart in a way I can't describe in words.
"Alpha Emma, regarding this meeting, a security protocol is necessary for everyone," Brunno suggests calmly and seriously. His tranquil face carries genuine concerns, and in his eyes, there is a depth reflecting his thoughts.
"You are right, Brunno. I want to hold the meeting here at Stonehaven Pack, but I think many would not feel comfortable coming to the territory of another wolf pack," I agree thoughtfully, biting my lower lip as I try to think of a more viable solution.
It is my responsibility to ensure everyone's safety, especially with the fear that something might go wrong and a new conflict could occur between the major wolf packs. The war is still declared, and there is still a feud between Night Howlers Pack and Moonshadow Pack.
Brunno gets up, walking quickly to the other side of the meeting room, where we have a wooden dresser where we keep maps and other essential items. He takes out a map of our country and spreads it out on the large round table, the sound of the paper unrolling echoing through the room, bringing a sense of discovery.
"We can investigate which lands are neutral and large enough to accommodate all the wolf packs," Brunno suggests while adjusting the map on the table. His hands move with precision and care, revealing the complex territorial divisions.
I look at the lines that demarcate the territories of the wolf packs. The largest in territory is indeed the Night Howlers Pack, Direwolf, and the Moonshadow Pack. Matthew's pack borders the Moonshadow Pack, and the neutral territory between them, a forest, is neither very viable nor spacious.
My eyes scan the entire map attentively, trying to find an ideal location for this meeting.
"How about here?" Amelia questions, placing her index finger, with its red-painted nail and a delicate ring, on the map right in the middle of the ocean.
"No one here floats on water, airhead!" Kylian shoots back humorously, eliciting restrained laughs and a playful reproachful look from Amelia, who hits him on the arm with the back of her hand.
She moves her finger a few centimeters on the map and reveals an island, not very small, but still hidden from less attentive eyes.
"On this island. If I'm not mistaken, it doesn't belong to anyone's territory," Amelia comments hopefully. Her eyes sparkle with the possibility of having found the solution.
Faylen picks up the tablet from the dresser and types the name of the island into the search bar. Her agility is impressive, and in just a few moments, my beta Faylen brings new information about the island.
"This island is called Sun Curve. Indeed, it has not been claimed by any wolf pack," Faylen informs in a very neutral voice, bringing a tone almost like a student. "However, it is inhabited and managed by sorcerers. It has a beautiful resort that offers a Day Pass if someone doesn't want to stay overnight but wants to use the facilities for the entire day."
"Yes, sorcerers are good. They don't have significant interests in taking sides in the territories of us werewolves. I think it will be the best option for holding the meeting," I declare thoughtfully.
"I can look into it further then. If this is your final choice, Alpha Emma," Faylen responds, and I nod.
"Yes, see what can be done on the island, if there is enough space for everyone, and also talk to the sorcerers. Some protocol measures will be necessary, as Brunno mentioned. For everyone's safety," I request calmly and gently. "You are all dismissed, folks. When I talk to Matthew again, I will call you back."
