Matthew's Pov
"I will be leaving in five minutes if you need some time to go to my wolf pack," I inform.
"No need to wait. Every second counts; we can go now if there's no problem," Bruno responds hastily, and I agree, relieved.
The return to my Night Howlers Pack is quick and mostly silent. Bruno makes occasional comments about possible locations where the witch could be and what magical solutions could be used.
"With the peace treaty established, it will be possible to bring in the best witch doctors to care for Emma if necessary," Bruno comments hopefully, and I nod.
"I want her to be well soon. But I want to know even more who the bastard was that wanted to curse her. Can you think of anyone?" I ask thoughtfully, trying to search my mind for any possibilities.
"Honestly, Alpha Matthew, the only thing that comes to mind is Emma's former pack, the Moonshadow Pack. I don't think those people, her family, took the breakup well. But I can't think of anyone specific, unfortunately. Alpha Emma is loved by all, and has been an excellent leader, especially with the great achievement of the peace treaty. Who would want to risk that in this way?" Bruno responds, his voice laden with worries and theories.
The answer soon appeared as we arrived at the Night Howlers Pack. Liam, my beta, met me at the entrance to my main house. His face is full of worry but also anger.
"Liam, what happened? Is Charlotte okay?" I ask worriedly, and Liam nods.
"It's not Charlotte that's the problem, she's fine. It's that bastard Michael, the son of Alpha Tim Davis. He is claiming responsibility for what happened to Emma. Michael demands your surrender to the Moonshadow Pack, or else... Emma dies!"
"That bastard, that fucking two-faced son of a bitch!" I screamed, feeling my rage boil inside me to the point where I had to punch the car door.
My strength and fury were so immense that the car moved several meters, yet my hand was unharmed. The car door, however, was completely dented, almost destroyed.
The atmosphere around me was consumed by a shocking silence. People stared at me with wide eyes, a mix of shock and fear on their faces. Everyone except Liam, who mirrored my rage, his fists clenched at his sides. The setting sun painted the sky in shades of orange and pink, creating a dark atmosphere that matched my anger. The beauty of the twilight went unnoticed as I was consumed by my fury.
I had to shout again, feeling the anger boiling throughout my body. Fenrir, inside me, was also at his peak of adrenaline and rage, wanting to shift and storm the Moonshadow Pack to rip Michael's head off. The presence of my wolf was a storm within me, each of Fenrir's thoughts fueled by my desire for vengeance.
I didn't know how long I stayed in this uncontrollable rage, just imagining Michael's face shattered by me. My hands trembled, not from fear or anxiety, far from it. But from pure fury. The landscape around me seemed distorted; every detail, the smell of the trees, the whisper of the wind in the leaves, all amplified my sense of impotence and rage.
When I finally returned to a more controlled mental state, orders started flowing from me automatically, as if I were a warrior on a battlefield, ready to head to the front lines.
"Brunno, I assume you've informed Faylen about Michael's position. It seems you were right; it was the Moonshadow Pack who cursed Emma. Take my doctors with you and try to find a cure for Emma," I informed in a rough, heavy voice. The rage was still running through my veins. "If Faylen agrees, I'd like a group of warriors to join my wolf pack. I won't let Michael's threat go unchecked, and I believe Faylen won't either."
"Certainly not, Alpha Matthew. We of the Stonehaven Pack will fight with you. Faylen is already aware of the situation and will be sending our best warriors within a few hours," Brunno quickly and seriously replied.
"Great. My omega will take you to the medical area so you can meet our doctors and bring them to Emma," I explained, my eyes flashing with anger, not at Brunno, but at the bastard Michael.
The farewell with Brunno was formal and very quick. He left with my omega to the packhouse, and soon Liam was by my side, heading with me to our training area. The journey was silent, but the environment around us pulsed with the tension of the imminent battle.
The training area was a large space surrounded by tall trees swaying with the wind, creating a whispering sound that intensified the atmosphere of preparation and anticipation.
"What deadline did that bastard give us?" I asked irritably, my blood boiling in my veins. Every muscle in my body was tense, ready to fight someone.
"Six hours, Alpha Matthew," Liam explained quickly, his voice firm but filled with controlled rage.
"I want everyone ready in less than three hours, Liam!" I shouted the demand in anger. My whole body tensed, ready for battle.
I watched as Liam began issuing orders, his voice cutting through the cold evening air that was now fully setting in. The moon began to rise on the horizon, its pale light casting long shadows on the ground. I felt Fenrir stirring inside me, eager for the fight we were ready to face. The night's shadows were already stretching across the training area, and every movement of my wolf pack members was marked by a silent urgency. Every face I saw was determined, every pair of eyes reflecting the same fury and desire for revenge burning within me.
I headed to my house to change. I needed suitable combat clothing, even if I shifted into Lycan mode; I wouldn't go unprepared to tear Michael's life away.
"What's the plan, Matt?" Fenrir asked in my mind.
