Charlotte's pov
**Eight Years Later**
My entire body shivers, my heart skips a synchronized beat as I have a vision of Emma, my sister-in-law. Just like eight years ago, when I first saw her on the beach, the sunlight captures her in a way that seems to illuminate not just her face but also the hidden corners of my memory.
But now she's twenty-seven and she carries with her the marks of time and the experiences that have shaped her journey since then. And so much has happened in these past years.
Her presence is a vivid reminder of the twists and turns that life can offer, of the changes that transform people and circumstances over the years. As I watch her, every detail becomes crystalline in my mind, as if my vision were not just visual but sensory, capturing not just her image but also the essence of who she has become.
The vision is clear, and vivid in my mind, like every time I have to use my powers. When I was younger, the visions were confusing. No one could understand me because I couldn't understand myself. Visions have always been a complex and intricate part of my life. As a child, they were blurry and confusing, as if I were looking through frosted glass.
But Emma was patient with me, helping me hone my abilities of revelation and prophecy. With patience and understanding, she helped me unravel the veil that covered my premonitions, honing my abilities until they became a valuable tool for our wolf pack.
My brother, Matthew, took some time to start taking my visions seriously, but now, whenever I see something, he believes me. Since then, whenever a vision manifests in my mind, he receives it with respect and attention, knowing it could mean the difference between peace and chaos in our community.
So I know this vision of Emma will be a surprise to all of them. It is as if the fabric of time has a moment prepared to unfold before us, revealing an exciting and unknown chapter of our history. A good surprise, like everything that has happened in recent years here in the Strong Stone Night Pack. Since the merger of the two wolf packs, everything has become more prosperous. The peace treaty on the continent has never been threatened as it was in the first year it was created. Everyone accepted the alliances between the packs, and Matthew and Emma have always been incredible leaders for us.
Whenever crises arose that needed to be controlled and avoided, I could foresee and help them make the best decisions. My visions don't provide a complete roadmap of events. It's just a scene, a person, a place, or sometimes just a feeling.
But this time, this new vision is something surprising. Something expected and yet unexpected.
As I contemplate Emma from a distance, I feel a mixture of excitement and nervousness intertwining within me. My hands tremble slightly, my muscles tense with anticipation of what is to come. This vision is not just a prediction of the future; it is a call to action, an invitation to unravel the secrets the universe has decided to share with us.
Like a vivid dream, I see Emma descending the stairs of a new house, one I don't yet know. Emma is in a floral white dress, with sunflowers patterned on it, her steps cautious because of the large pregnant belly she's carrying. The morning sun streams through the windows, illuminating the room with a golden light that dances on the white walls, creating an atmosphere of serenity and anticipation.
"I think the twins are eager to come early, they won't stop kicking!" Emma remarks with humor in her voice, gripping the staircase railing. Her smile is radiant, and the happiness in her eyes is contagious.
My brother enters the vision, waiting for Emma at the bottom of the stairs with a concerned look on his face.
"Do you want to go to the doctor? I can take you now!" Matthew suggests with a voice full of concern, and Emma lets out a melodious laugh that echoes through the house.
"Take it easy, Matt. There are still three weeks left for these two pups to come out, they're just restless. Nothing serious!" Emma declares in a relaxed manner, and I smile at her statement. The confidence and love between them are palpable. I feel proud to have Emma as my sister-in-law; many times, I see her as a mother figure. After all, she and Matthew have raised me since I was eight, and now I'm sixteen. I can't help but see Emma as a great example of a mother. "Charlotte, when is your boyfriend coming to take you to the dance?" Emma's question reverberates in my mind.
Boyfriend?
That's what makes my heart stop for a moment. I don't have a boyfriend!
The vision ends, and I feel overwhelmed by the significant events. Emma will soon be pregnant. Maybe not now, as my sister-in-law currently has long hair that reaches past her waist. But my visions don't take long to come true, at most a year for everything to happen.
I don't even have my wolf yet, let alone a boyfriend.
"Lotte? Are you okay?" Leon, my best friend and a wizard, asks, pulling me back to reality.
He touches my shoulder, his touch warming my heart in a way that almost takes my breath away for a few seconds. His face is worried, his bright golden eyes intense in a way that always makes me want to dive into those golden eyes.
"Uh? Yes, yes, I'm fine, just had..." I speak a bit unsettled, trying to gather my thoughts and remember what we were doing.
The familiar scent of herbs and magic that always accompanies Leon seems stronger, mixing with the sea breeze and bringing a sense of calm.
But then, I'm pulled into another vision. This time, it's an even stronger sensation, almost overwhelming, enveloping me completely.
I witness blood, so much blood. Despair and a huge gray wolf that I've never seen before, blood on its muzzle, its red eyes sparking with power. The surroundings are dark, a dense forest shrouded in thick fog pulsating with a sinister energy. The metallic smell of blood is strong, mixed with the scent of damp earth and decaying wood.
"There you are, Lotte. I've been looking for you, my bride!" the wolf speaks with a menacing voice that reverberates in my bones, sending a wave of dread that almost paralyzes me. Its red eyes, like glowing embers, fixate on me with a predatory intensity that chills my blood.
I want to run away from my vision, to flee from him. But I can't move, and the large gray wolf advances towards me. Its teeth gleam threateningly in the dim light, and panic completely consumes me.
I'm jerked out of the vision with a frightened cry. I cling to Leon, who holds me firmly, bringing me back to reality once again. Leon's scent is comforting, but my body still trembles from the impact of the vision.
"Charlotte, calm down! Are you okay? Calm down!" Leon declares with a worried voice, his arms embracing me tightly, his strong arms enveloping me in an attempt to protect me.
My eyes widen in fear at what I've seen. Every detail, every drop of blood, every spark in that wolf's eyes is still etched in my mind. I feel as if the very air around me is heavy, laden with the threat the vision brought.
"Lotte, what happened? What did you see?" Leon asks anxiously. His hands move to my face, stroking my cheeks.
By the Goddess, why does his touch cause such a rush of euphoria in me? He's my best friend!
I try to breathe more calmly. Leon doesn't pull away from me; he continues to caress my face, calming and supporting me. His golden eyes shimmer in my direction, and I feel a peace looking at him, but fear still churns inside me.
"Something is coming, Leon. Something I don't fully understand," I reply, frightened, my voice faltering and my throat feeling dry. "A powerful werewolf is coming, and I don't know what he wants with me."
It's the first time in my life that a vision has haunted me like this. That it's made me so afraid and yet feel like someone is watching over me.
The sensation of being watched is so intense that I look around, expecting to see those red eyes glowing in the shadows.
"I'm coming to get you, Charlotte. My bride." The ominous voice resonates in my mind again, clear as the sound of thunder, and I feel frozen in place.
Fear turns into pure panic, and I realize someone is inside my mind, an intrusive presence that isn't from my wolf.
Leon senses my growing unease and holds me tighter, trying to anchor me in reality.
"We'll figure out what's happening, Lotte. I won't let anyone hurt you," he promises, his voice firm and determined.
But the fear I feel is deep, something beyond Leon's comforting words. I know the real threat is coming, something that could change everything, and I feel both terrified and defiant in the face of this terrifying vision.
