The world...it seemed to have stopped. Everything moves slow, and my vision is clouded all except what I'm looking at.
The powerful alpha in front of me.
No, I must be wrong.
He isn't just an ordinary alpha.
The power he exudes is of a Lycan! But I've never met a lycan that us this powerful. Who is he?
With each step he takes towards my parent's tombstone, I felt my heart quake. Suddenly, I felt the presence of the person I loathe behind me. He placed his left hand on my shoulder, and I couldn't help but stare at the ring on his finger.
"Do not disgrace me neither yourself now, Aurora. Come with me." I took a deep breath in.
"He's the Lycan Prince. Be respectful and do no speak in between. A lot of people are angered by your presence already." I know better about that, Leif. You've put me in such a state. What do I do?
Pushing me by the small of my waist, Leif chuckles and announced his arrival.
Oh Goddess...
What is this pressure I feel? It's as if every muscle in my body feels the incredible pushing pressure, thrice of the gravity on my skin as we go closer and closer to the Lycan Prince.
Wait...it's the man who was adamant to keep me company for the dance last night at the party! Shit, I'm such a downer!
He's a tall, black haired man who looks like he's jumped out of a fiction. His body which hides behind the suit is fit and healthy. I noticed the bumps in his arms as he put the wreath around my parents' tombstone.
I respect him well from now, for taking time out from his probably busy schedule as the prince to attend the funeral.
"Ahem. Prince of Lycans..." the man standing beside me spoke. I looked down at how Leif intertwined our hands. His ring was hurting my palm, because he squeezed my hand as he talked to the man who was leagues above in power and prestige.
Until now, I was only observing the Prince's side profile. When he turned to look at us, I almost gasped.
His irises...they're a ghostly grey. His pupils looked like a whole iris. The deep grey was soon changing to a soft hazel under the sunlight, as the clouds moved away.
"Call me Emeric, Lupus. I prefer to be humble today." The last words were uttered whilst looking at me. I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Are you feeling alright?" He mouthed softly to me, and I nodded. I blinked at him, figuring out why he who has such a strong status would join the funeral of my parents. I don't remember my parents having legal nor power connections with the Lycan Prince.
"Very well, Prince of Lycans. As you wish, Emeric. Well, I'd like to let you know, in fact everyone here today, that I'll never leave Aurora's side. Sure, she was disheartened last night and said many, terrible things to all of us. Especially the elders. I've heard it all, sweetheart." Digust bubbles within me. I couldn't control my facial expressions. However, upon seeing Leif's jaw clench threateningly, I looked down at my feet.
The man named Emeric, a very important person of our society of Werewolves and lycans alike, stood calmly and observed Leif's drama.
"You are a wonderful woman, Aurora. I'd like to let you all know that I won't be breaking our marriage any time soon. I worry about Darkforest pack. This is my second home!
With papa and mama gone now, it doesn't feel empty, in here." Leif pats his chest loudly. Oh Goddess, please save me from his drama. I can't take this anymore.
"You're being a bitch now, Leif." I whispered to him. However, I had forgotten that the Lycan Prince has abilities far beyond my comprehension. He must've heard my whisper. But it doesn't matter to him.
For someone who handles affairs internationally, a small dispute like mine right here wouldn't affect him even a bit. I'm all on my own in Leif's scripted shit.
Someone claps in appreciation to Leif's words. Our heads turn to Beta Torin. Forgive me, he's an alpha now.
Interim Alpha Torin.
"Look at him," Leif comes back to his normal stance. However, his grip on my hand tightens even more. A soft moan of agony slips out of my mouth. For that, Leif squeezed my hand even tighter!
"This is what I call by maturity. This is a man, who wishes to take responsibility. Last night, whatever had happened with Lady Aurora can be forgiven. Forgiven, upon the acceptance from her side that she will continue being Leif Lupus's decorated fiancée."
There's no way I hear those words from him. I've never felt the amount of disorientation in me as of right now. I scoffed, and finally had enough of this nonsense.
In front of a powerful person, that too!?
How low can Leif actually stoop?
"Princess...do not." Leif's eyes threatened me. But I didn't care anymore.
"All of you await for my decision, right? Here it is then!
I will...NOT marry Leif Lupus. Never!" Anger got the best of me. I pushed him by his chest, it was my hardest push but the strong alpha Leif doesn't even budge to my nudging!
"I don't care what anyone says or even thinks of me! Have you ever wondered WHY i would want to break our engagement in the first place!? Huh!? Ever thought about me!?" Enraged, the words flew out of my mouth.
"...Not everything is about you, Lady Aurora..." A deep male voice spoke from the crowd. Upon seeing who it was, I took a deep breath in. It's the third elder, who seemed to hate me the mist out of this bloody crowd!
"You think it's only about me, all the time!? Did you ever think of what I've gone through last night!? No one, absolutely no one genuinely paid condolences to my parents! No one was ready to find out who made the bloody accident! What...is happening to my pack...?"
"...This calls for a decision by force. Leif Lupus, Alpha of Frostmoon pack..." the elder spoke again as I held my tears back.
"Yes, elder." Leif stepped to the front,
"Do you take Aurora Fangborn as your wife, in all care and respect?"
"In the present, and in the future, Elder." Leif replied. It took me a second to realize what was happening exactly.
It's a fucking patriarchal society, even in werewolves.
"W-Wait. Wait, please...no!" I protested,
"The mood Goddess observes your marriage for the rest of your—"
Out of nowhere, a hand pulls me back as I was being dragged towards the elder by Leif.
I slowly turned around...Emeric was holding my hand!
Even the elder had stopped in his tracks. Leif simply stared at my wrist covered with Emeric's large palm. And then, what he's uttered from his mouth, changed my life forever,
"She is not going to marry you, Alpha Leif Lupus."
