CHAPTER 31: Tensions and rivalries

  ~Aurora~

The 2nd trial of intellect is just in a few hours from this moment. I was a nervous wreck. Last night, the wolf I've met was nameless and alluring to me. He managed to calm me down for the moments we have spent in each other's company, but things weren't quite well after that, until now even.

I looked around and tried to remember all the pointers I've made in my notebook. I looked at the door sadly, the books and bags were restricted from entering with us and we contestants had a strict checking at the doors. Now, we patiently wait until announcements and commencement have been made.

From the corner of my eye, I noticed someone moving directly towards me.

"No...way..." I straightened up my posture.

The woman who walked towards me, her hips swaying expressive as she made a statement with her signature smirk. The woman was none other than...

"A-Alexia..." I stared at her from head to toe. I'm not imagining things, right?

"What a good day it, right?" The corner of my lip couldn't help but rise up in disgust.

"Can you please walk away from me? We still have time for the next Trial. Why don't you go suck someone's dick and pass your time?" My remark would enrage any species, but not her. She chuckled, putting her elbow on my shoulder as if we were so close!

"What the fuck? Get away from me before I inform the guards, Alexia. What an annoying bitch."

"But you're the one who is openly showing your disgust with me. If anything, I have witnesses and you don't. I could put it against you, and inform about your ill language with me to the guards. Shall I do that, Lady Aurora?"

Calm down, Aurora. Calm the hell down. She's only trying to mess with your head.

"Look, I'll make things simple for your peanut-sized brain. You need to understand that I have the entire commitment and strength to prove myself to be the winner of these trials. And I will not back down. Even if it means I'll have to drag you down to get myself up in the rank. Aurora, I'm warning you...do not interfere in my victory." The last set of words were whispered with cruelty and cunningness.

I scoffed, what a hostile person she is! If there is any chance of us pairing up together in any trials in the future, I might have to cut my head off! She's so annoying and displaying hostility openly. When she does that, the stares don't fall on her. But when I try to defend myself, using a few curse words, the candidates around me glared at me like I owed them my life! Tch!

What an unfair world.

After having enough of her yapping, I held my hand up in her face and spoke,

"Yeah, yeah. If you didn't know anything about the second trial, it's about discovering ancient runes in a sealed, spell bound space. I hope you fail, sincerely. You don't deserve a brain, Alexia." Scoffing at her, I jolt her elbow off my shoulder. Given her a warning, hoping she will not disturb me again, I walked away towards the entrance.

I could still feel Alexia's gaze on me, even across the hall! It took everything in my power to not walk to her and show her how much of a savage I've become as days passed. But at the same time, I am aware she is doing this to me for a reason. That boggling with my head, bugging me would reduce my chances of winning. She wants to give me a reason to distract myself while I'm at the task of my second trial!

Her intentions were as clear as the sky to me.

Ugh! The wait is killing me! Well, I see Alexia trying to continue the argument with me. However, our heads turned towards the spot.

There is a little commotion that erupted around the entrance of our waiting hall. I, like any normal person along with others, grew curious. I looked at the entrance, and saw tuft of hair bouncing on top of the man's head. The white...it reminded me of someone. But then, there are many people from various packs who have white hair. It was almost like ivory than gray, the color of his hair.

"Sir, please allow me! And, believe me! I'm not making this up for myself! I reported late because I helped an elderly lady with carrying her trolley down the hallway! Please let me in, sir!" The guy with white hair spoke. I couldn't see his whole face nor his body yet. There are too many people in front of me, blocking my view.

"Besides, sir, I have a lot to offer to the world if I become the leader of Darkforest pack!" He added, which made me chuckle accidentally.

"Punctuality is a trait of any leader, contestant. Please step aside and wait until further instructions on your disqualification." My eyes budged out of my sockets. That strict, huh?

Well, I do understand to an extent that an alpha must always be punctual.

The way he is arguing with the guards tells me a lot about him. He's slightly manipulative, using the 'my father serves allegiance to this Kingdom!' and other things amongst the same spectrum.

I for one, couldn't help but roll my eyes at him. He is an unreliable person. If we were paired in a trial after this, he would be a nuisance.

This person...does not also fit into the category of being intellectual. If someone used the 'my dad is powerful' card on a guard, masking their insensitivity, they are automatically a failure. In my eyes at least.

Discipline is important. Having priorities is even more important.

Rolling my eyes once again, I resorted to minding my own business. However, the person named 'Odin Blackwood' was still arguing with the guards heavily. Three guards against one stubborn man. The scene was slightly intriguing to me, so I couldn't help but spectate further.

Well, the second trial is almost to begin within few minutes. And the contestant named Odin Blackwood was luckily allowed inside the hall. Why am I even thinking about someone like him?
