~Aurora~
The whole day of my warm welcoming back to my family has been nothing but blissful! Beta Torin had made arrangements and small twitches in my room. It was much bigger with all the things arranged properly to the corners.
"And this, is your personal study. I'll have to get back to my role as your beta, so only you and I know the password for this study, Aurora." Holding me by my shoulder, Beta Torin was showing me around the palace of our pack. Many, many things have been altered to the taste of royalty and sophistication in this palace. It almost reminds me of the Whispering Pines Lycan Kingdom's palace. The best architectured palace in the entire continent!
"Thank you for everything that you've been doing, Torin. I can't thank you enough for immediately stepping into the role of interim alpha. It must've been hard for you, handling all these tasks, I bet. Given your age too." I teased him a bit in the end as he pulled my cheeks!
It was around evening, and the festivities have calmed down around the pack house significantly. Taking the time to reconnect with Emeric, I just so happened to realize how much I've begun to miss him already. He's so addictive, and I just realized that…
<Hey Emeric~ how is everything going?>
<Oh you tell me about yourself first!>
The reply from him came so swiftly that I couldn't believe my eyes! Chuckling, I sighed and told him everything about the celebration that my pack held for me.
Easy to say, Emeric was way too excited and happy for me! He was being a sweetheart and said how I deserved everything, and my hardwork and resilience had got me where I am at the moment. I don't deny his words! He was right in every sense of his words!
<Oh, and I've got my personal study! And it is bigger than yours!>
<Hey, don't rub it on me that you've been treated nicely in your pack! But my love, always remember that betrayal comes from people who you trust the most>
Suddenly, our conversation took a big turn into darkness. I looked up at the sky for a moment.
He wasn't wrong. Emeric is never wrong.
It dawned on me at that moment that leadership, especially the position that I've aspired to become - and have become - takes a lot of guts and emotions. With involvement of emotions, there can be many right and wrong decisions taken. Ultimately, it will affect my pack. Hence, I'll be walking on eggshells everyday, with every decision. This is what it means to be a ruler. A leader.
<I'll have to resume my duties now, Aurora. We will talk at night. Pick up my call, alright? Don't make me want to come there to you so soon.>
Oh lord, can he be any more cuter!?
Switching the phone off, I realized I might need a new phone right now. Might as well put a word to Torin and he will get me a brand new, highly functional phone in a few hours.
"Hey, Torin." Peeping into his little personal cabin, I smiled at him goofily.
"You may come in, Alpha." He smirked softly, and went back to checking a few official documents.
"Torin, could you get me a new phone by nightfall? I might need it urgently. This phone was given by Leif and I'm afraid it is outdated—" before I could finish my words, Torin whips out a brand new phone from his drawer. Without even looking at me, he says,
"I knew you'd need one after seeing how thin and frail that phone looks. Here, this one is way better…and durable."
"I hope you know you're the best beta out there, Torin. The best." Hyping him up, he chuckled as I turned around and left to attend a few preliminary level tasks of my own.
Following my study, I found a few paperwork laid there on the desk. The chair looked as comfortable as it felt. The moment I sat on it, the cushiony softness made me feel like I'm sitting on a cloud. After being used to the wooden chairs of the library and a coil filled mattress of the bed, this felt wonderful!
I tended to the paperwork, somehow, it was easy to make decisions based on my tactical skills that I've learned throughout my stay at the Lycan Kingdom. Oh! How far have I progressed!?
Usually, it is often difficult to do these tasks involving critical thinking and more so often, other leadership skills. But this felt like chugging on water to me! This felt as though I was meant for all these tasks!
Overjoyed, I completed the tasks within one hour instead of many extended hours. I ran back to Torin's study, almost scaring the crap out of the omegas who were walking around the corridors!
"Torin! May I come in!?" I excitedly knocked on his door. From the murmurs coming from within, I took it that Torin was busy on a call with someone. It must be important.
However, Torin unlocked the door and invited me in. He hung up on the call.
"Here! All done." Placing the papers on the desk, I smiled up at Torin. He lifted his eyebrows, picking up a random file to check for my signature and remarks on it.
"Well?" I asked like an excited little kid!
"Hmm…these are good. Very good." He commented.
"You've finished all of these…?"
"Yes!" I could see the look of hysterical surprise cross his face before he complimented me,
"That Kingdom's training made a monster out of you. Keep it up, Aurora. I think you're done for the day." I widened my eyes.
"Really!?"
"Yes. And don't be so joyful so soon. These were simply the preliminary tasks I've gathered for you. You'll be receiving even harder tasks and decisions to make than these. It requires experience, you know?"
"Oh, I know~
Trust me, Torin. I've got all the experience I need for this role."
