CHAPTER 120: The deadly herb

  ~Aurora~

Post our revelation about the Deadly Herb that Leif used to process and had used on himself to strengthen his capabilities, I was more than determined to do something about it. As the morning came around, I and Emeric had gotten up early and made our way to the library.

In an instant, we reached the section where there was a huge pile of books that I would be reading from to find anything about the herb that we saw in the picture. From the picture that Alexia has sent, I could say that it would be a huge task to find any information about this rare herb.

"Let me assist you as well." Emeric had come to the library as well and he wanted to assist me the best way he could. I knew I could rely on Emeric. We reached deeper into the section of rare magical herbs in the library. We picked all the books that we could at once and sat on the tables individually. Emeric had already started reading as I admired the scene. I prayed that we find the information about the herb as soon as possible.

Hours and hours went by, yet neither Emeric nor I could find anything about this. This was becoming frustrating for the both of us. Leaning back towards the seat, I sighed heavily. Noticing that I was almost ready to give up, Emeric quickly intervened and pressed a gentle kiss on my forehead. I was blushing at the same and told him that I needed it.

"I knew you needed that Aurora." Giving me a gentle smile he went back to work on his own. We both did not even find time to eat as we were too busy to refer to bundles and bundles of information that was available to us in the library.

Suddenly, it occurred to me that the internet might have more information than just the books that we had. But…there also was a huge possibility that misinformation would affect.

"Could you please pass me that book?" I was feeling a headache running up my temple.

'Maia, can you please help me with the headache that is irritating me?

'Of course I would have helped you before you could even ask me…but this is beyond me.' I couldn't help but resort to the last option that was left to me. I had to upload the elders and take their opinion on this herb.

The elders are all knowledgeable people of any pack. As much as I resented having to talk to them, I had no choice left.

"Emeric, you please continue to investigate." I got up from the chair as he lifted his eyebrow at me.

"...And where the hell do you think you are going? " he asked with an expression. I replied that I would be going to the elders and seeking their opinion on this tough situation. He seemed fine with the thought that I had and let me approach the elders of my pack.

It was not a big task to find where the elders were hiding in the Pack house. I was slightly disappointed that they did not try to talk to me after I came back. I only thought they were two hesitant to talk to me because the prince of the Fallen Kingdom was right beside me all the time.

I never thought they would think of him this way. The elders of my pack are way too cunning and I have no reason to be bad towards people who need their help or assistant. The elders have always been like this since the beginning of time. As I approached their private chamber, where they would live there own life as diligent people, I was almost sent back by my own guards…

"What nonsense—? Allow me inside, I am the Alpha of this pack." The guards were almost shaking in their knees when I used that tone on them. I know that my pheromones were working on them. Just when I was about to raise my tone a little to higher, the second elder had opened the big door. The door was barely opened as I made a frowning face at him.

"Elder, I have to talk to you."

"There is nothing that we can talk about Aurora. Please go back to your chamber and do your own things."

As a woman I was disheartened because of their loss of faith in me. They were viewing me as I was some kind of failure. It really hurts everyone that this is how we would be treated.

"Elder, please listen to me, this is important."

"I cannot give you more opinions than this…"

"Elder I have not come here to beg for you to talk to me."

"Then do not come here and lose your respect even more." I was appalled by the behavior.

"...You cannot treat me like this. If we ever let Leif reign and take over more kingdoms as time passes you can almost believe that he would come for our pack as well. It is my duty as Alpha of this fact to protect whoever is left for me to protect." Tears of anger and frustration were almost swimming in my eyes. If I blinked, a fat drop of tear would roll off my cheek.

Suddenly we all felt a presence walking down the corridor. The elder was trying to push me out and lock the door on my face. But almost instantly, Emeric had put his leg between the door and glared down at the second elder. I could sense the fear that was looming around the elder. No matter how wise and aged the elder might be, they would always have someone to fear. And at this moment all they had to fear was emeric who would never back down from fighting the one who was this respectful towards me….
