CHAPTER 19

  ELIJAH'S POV:-

Artemis was sitting on a chair next to the kitchen counter. She looked adorable in that dress code. The chair was way taller for her. I had to help her get on that chair. She paired her clothes with pink kitten heels. She looked like an adorable baby. I had to put up my tough face so she would stay away from me. If she came near me, I knew I would end up doing something to her that I would regret later. I needed her to feel the same way I was feeling. I didn't want to jump on her like a horny bastard. Although ever since she came back to me, I felt an urge to pin her with bed and fuck her senselessly.

Maybe her adorable face made me control myself. Or maybe the way she blindly trusted me, that was the reason I was keeping myself away from her. I didn't want to be rude to her. I didn't want to be mean to her. But I didn't have a choice. That smile she gave me in the morning, gave me a hard-on yet again. Due to the anger and concerns about her, I totally forgot about it. It didn't become a problem for me. I couldn't afford to walk around with my crotch bulging on my pants. Once her breakfast was read, I placed everything in front of her. With an excited look on her face, she grabbed the fork and took a huge bite, despite the rolls being burning hot.

She closed her eyes and moaned while enjoying that one bite. I had to take a few deep breaths to calm myself down again. Her moans had awakened the monster inside me again. The horny monster to be specific. I have hardly cooked since I became the Alpha. But after seeing the excited smile on her face, my hard work felt like it's all worth it. "How is it?" I asked her in a low tone as she chewed the first bite slowly as if she was savouring the taste.

"It's good. I don't remember eating anything that good in a long time." Artemis replied to me in an excited tone. Her mouth was still filled with the huge bite she took.

I chuckled as I heard her excited tone. I grabbed my plate and the mug of coffee and walked towards her. I sat beside her and patted her head. "I can't imagine how anyone could even think about hurting someone so innocent. I feel burning you up until there is nothing left of you but ashes whenever you talk to her rudely." Dean exclaimed as I took the first bite. I almost choked on my food as I heard Dean. I knew he was angry with me because I was being rude to Artemis. But it was not my fault. There was nothing I could do. I had to control myself around her. Or I was worried that I would scare her away.

It was something I never wanted to happen. I could understand Dean's frustrations. And I knew that he also understood my reasons. "Dean! You know why I do it. We don't want to scare her away, now do we? It's for the best if we stay away from her for a while. At least, until she starts to feel comfortable around us." I replied to Dean while eating. Artemis was staring at me with a concerned look on her face. I didn't even notice when she left and came back with a glass of water for me while I was choking. I couldn't help but frown in confusion. It was as if she could move with the speed of a vampire or a dragon.

Vampires and dragons. The bastards were way faster than werewolves. We wolves could only match their strength whenever we are in the medium mode. It was like a half shifter mode. When a host combines his body with the strength and powers of his wolf, a medium mode takes place. But in her case, she was walking that fast while she was in her human form. And not to mention, her wolf was still too exhausted from everything they went through, she was practically sleeping. Dean and I could hardly feel her presence. We haven't met or heard of her in the first place. It was just her words and the faint scent her wolf left on her when I saw her in my bedroom again. That's how I knew she had already shifted.

Well, of course, the other case was the worst. If she wouldn't have shifted into a werewolf, she would have died. Which was the last thing I wanted. I admit that I had lost my mind that night, that very moment, when I bit her. Even when I knew the risks very well, I took them without hesitation. With a confused look on my face, I took the glass from her and gulped half of the cold content in one big gulp. "How did you do that? I didn't even notice you moving from your chair. How can you move so fast? And if it's possible, how did Kevin and Nichole catch you in the first place? They are the slowest wolves of our pack." I asked Artemis in a low tone.

I was shocked with just one stunt she showed me. I started to question myself if I would be able to control her. The full moon was about to rise in thirty four hours. To let her wolf heal, I was planning on taking her to the forest to let the light of the moon heal her fully. But as I saw her very first stunt she pulled in front of me, that too without knowing, unconsciously. I was doubting myself if I would ever be able to take my place in her life as an alpha. Dean was quiet but I could feel the similar disbeliefs in his mind as well.

Dean and I were both shocked at her little stunt. Hearing my question, she blinked a few times. As if she was thinking about something. Then she shrugged her shoulders carelessly. "I don't know what you are talking about. I didn't move faster. I moved at my normal speed. I just saw you choking. And my legs carried me towards the dispenser on their own. As if I was under some possession. But I know I just moved at my normal speed. I did, right?" She replied to me in a confused tone. As I had expected, she moved unconsciously. Her abilities were mirrored in that one single move. And I cursed myself for taking the risk of turning her into a wolf.

The confusion on her face was evident. No! It was more than just a confusion. She was suddenly terrified. And that was the last thing I wanted her to feel. "I might have zoned out for a minute then. You don't have to be worried about it. It's my mistake. You finish your breakfast before it gets cold." I masked my face with a fake smile and lied to her. She sighed in relief and nodded her head
