THIRD PERSON'S POV:-
Artemis was lying flat on the ground. Emma was on top of her. Emma was squeezing her neck with all her strength. While Artemis was trying to free herself from Emma's hold. Suddenly, a hard punch collided with Emma's face. She went flying away from Artemis. Artemis gasped for air as she sat up and started coughing hard. "What the fuck are you doing, Emma? Did you intend to kill her?" It was Grey who made it in time. He wrapped his arms around Artemis as he helped her up on her feet. Artemis was shaking with fear.
Emma looked up and her eyes widened in horror. She was sure she didn't hear or feel anyone inside the apartment except for Artemis and herself. And she didn't either hear anyone coming. "What are you doing here? When did you come here, Uncle Grey?" Emma asked Grey with a horrified look on her face.
"Seriously? You are asking me. Well, I am glad I was not too late. Or you would have killed the Lun… I mean, you might have killed this innocent girl." Grey yelled at Emma angrily. He then pulled Artemis towards the kitchen to help her calm down.
Grey helped Artemis on a chair. Then he ran towards the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water. He poured cold water in a glass then gave it to Artemis. "T..th..thank you." Artemis stuttered as she thanked Grey. Grey was patting Artemis' head as she drank the water.
"Uncle Grey, it's not what it looks like. She attacked me first. You know I would never have tried anything stupid." Emma was not certainly lying. But she was not telling the whole truth either. Grey turned to glare at Emma as he heard her. Emma narrowed her head and walked away.
Emma walked out of the kitchen, scratching her head nervously. She was sure she was attacked first. But there were no wounds on her body to prove her point. There was no blood either. "That's confusing. How can it be possible? I felt pain. I was hardly breathing. I felt her claws deep inside my back. I smelled my own blood. But I see nothing on me." Emma asked herself as she proceeded towards the elevator. She felt it would be for good if she just left for the moment. She didn't want to get into more trouble than she already was.
On the other side, Artemis was crying while she sipped the water. Grey's eyes widened in horror as he saw bruises forming around her neck. He was surprised how fast the dark bruises appeared on her neck. But he was also shocked because Artemis was not healing. Her voice became heavy. "Why are you not healing? These bruises should have been healed up by now. Is there something wrong with your wolf?" Grey asked Artemis I'm a concerned tone. Although he smelled something fishy around, he decided to ask Artemis before jumping into conclusions.
Hearing his question, Artemis forced a small smile on her face. "When I was locked up in the dungeon, I almost died because of a food allergy I had. My wolf saved my life that night using all the strength she had. Alpha Elijah said that she was resting because it was not her time to shift. That's why she is taking longer to appear. That's why I can't heal like you all yet." Artemis honestly replied to Grey without hesitating. She had talked about it with Elijah many times. That's why, she was no longer hesitant talking about it anymore.
Grey ran his fingers through his hair as he thought about the storm that was about to come. He knew as soon as Elijah would see those bruises on Artemis' neck, he would be furious. "Oh, don't worry about it. I know she didn't mean to hurt me. I will wear turtleneck tops for a while. The weather is getting chilly anyway. You know, it's the rainy season." Artemis spoke in a low tone as she saw Grey staring at her neck and stressing. Artemis didn't need to be told what Elijah would do to Emma if he saw bruises on Artemis' neck.
Artemis knew that was the reason why Grey was suddenly very worried. Of course he was worried about Artemis as well. After all, Emma tried to kill Artemis. "You are a smart girl with a kind heart. Thank you. You are the only one who can handle Elijah. As for Emma, I promise you, she will be punished for what she did. And she will apologise to you for everything she just did to you." Grey patted Artemis' head as he promised her. Artemis smiled widely and nodded her head. Grey sighed and left Artemis alone.
Artemis finished the water in the glass. Then she hopped off of the chair and walked back towards her bedroom. She grabbed her clothes for the day from her closet and left them on her bed. She then stepped into the bathroom, peeled her clothes off of her body and hopped into the shower after doing her morning business. "I told you not to lose control. I just wanted you to teach her a lesson for good this time. Look what a mess you Jane created instead, Tracy?" Artemis scolded Tracy as she washed her body. Tracy just rolled her eyes in annoyance as always.
According to Tracy, whatever she did to Emma was necessary. "Are you kidding me? She was about to kill us both for good. I just gave her a taste of her own medicine. Now she will keep on thinking about what actually happened to her. It will keep on messing up her mind for a while about what actually happened here and what she actually went through." Tracy replied to Artemis in an annoyed tone. But by the end, both Tracy and Artemis were laughing hysterically. Artemis could almost imagine Emma's confused face in the back of her mind.
Even Artemis had no idea what Tracy did and how she was able to pull such a trick when she was still whining about resting and healing from the very first shift. That's why, Artemis didn't shift in front of the pack once. "I must admit. It was way funnier than I had imagined it to be. But I am more curious about what just happened. How were you able to pull off a trick like that and you still cry in front of me that you are healing?" Artemis asked Tracy in a low tone.
Artemis wanted to know what Tracy was hiding. She could feel there were so many things Tracy hadn't told Artemis. "I have my reasons, Artemis. You have to trust me. I am doing it for your own good. We can't trust anyone. Trust is the very reason why criminals were born in this world. You and I can trust each other. But we can't just trust anyone else. At least, not until we are sure who is our friend and who is our enemy." Tracy was more serious than usual when she replied to Artemis. Artemis felt it too. That there was something wrong and Tracy was trying to protect Artemis.
