ARTEMIS' POV:-
I was standing under the shower. The warm water was flowing freely on my body. The shift was way harder than I had expected. My body ached all over right after I shifted back. But Tracy healed me quickly. After that, I dressed up again and Alpha Elijah brought me back home. He didn't say much since he saw Tracy. He asked me her name and whatever I knew about her. I hardly knew anything at all. So I was completely honest with him. Tracy asked me to keep the mate part to myself. She wanted to know his thoughts before we would disclose the truth about me being his mate. As she listened to what I asked, I was supposed to listen to her wishes as well.
Tracy was nervous. I understood her nervousness. I was nervous too. Because Elijah didn't say a word since he saw Tracy. Nothing more than just questions he asked about Tracy and I.
I turned the shower off and stepped out. I wrapped a towel around my body and stepped out of the bathroom. My heart fluttered as I saw Elijah on my bed, waiting for me. "Oh! You are already here. I will be back in five minutes. I just need to change." I spoke to get his attention. He turned to look at me then nodded his head. I stepped into the closet, applied lotion on my body then changed into a silky black nightie. I towel dried my hair then stepped out of the closet.
I laid down on my side of the bed. I was not sure if he actually wanted to cuddle with me. My question was answered a moment later. He turned around and wrapped both of his arms around me. I sighed in relief as I placed my head on his chest and wrapped my arms around him. "You sighed like a heavy weight was lifted off of your chest. What's going on, baby girl?" He whispered softly while rubbing his hang on my back gently.
"Nothing. I was just thinking if you were regretting everything that has happened between us in the past five months. I thought you wouldn't want to be with me after knowing the truth." I replied to Elijah honestly.
Actually, Tracy was also relieved the very moment he wrapped his arms around me and pylyne to his chest. She was also worried if Elijah's Wolf, Dean, would accept Tracy. Dean was an Alpha wolf, backed up with the amazing powers left behind for him from his ancestors. She was worried if Dean would accept a coyote as his mate. "Are you kidding me? You have no idea how lucky I am to have you as my ma… I mean, how happy I am to have a coyote in my pack. You have no idea what kind of powers you possess." Elijah spoke to me in a nervous tone. He actually sounded more nervous than happy or excited about it. While his words were as if he was excited.
I pulled my head out to look into his eyes. It felt like he was hiding something from me. But surely, it felt a little personal. I didn't want to pry on his secrets. So instead of asking him about it, I decided to leave it be. I knew he would talk to me whenever he was ready. "You did the right thing to show that to me only. Tracy was right. You can't show your shifted firm in front of anyone around her. At least, not until you are trained enough to take down wolves." Elijah added in a serious tone while staring into my eyes. Tracy was very suspicious about the whole thing herself. That's why she decided to tell Elijah the truth.
"The Werecoyotes don't exist anymore. They went extinct about a century ago. Now tell me, no one saw you in your true form?" Elijah explained the reason why Tracy and I didn't meet any Werecoyotes around. It was because they no longer existed.
"The Luna of the pack I was imprisoned in, saw Tracy. To avenge me, Tracy ate her hand. And Kevin and Nichole also saw me. Is it going to be bad?" I replied to Elijah in a low tone. I was worried if I had created a problem for Elijah to deal with. He chuckled as he heard me and shook his head.
"No, baby girl! You don't have to be so nervous about it. Only some Alpha wolves with an ancient history of alphas in their families know about this. There is no way any of them could have recognized what you really are." Alpha Elijah replied to the question I had asked him.
As I heard his response, a confused look appeared on my face. "What do you mean? You said Werecoyotes were real about a hundred years ago. Now you are saying that no one knows about them at all?" I asked him in a confused tone. I wanted to know about the powers I had.
"Yes! That's exactly what I am saying. Werecoyotes were creatures of night like werewolves. But they were smarter, faster and more powerful than the werewolves. Werewolves started to feel threatened by the actual power the Werecoyotes possessed." Elijah replied to my questions in an excited tone.
While I was worried about the kind I really was, he was excited to tell me the story. "Werewolves soon started to feel threatened by the powers they possessed. It is said that all werewolves joined their armies to get rid of the Werecoyotes. A hundred years ago, the last one disappeared. That's what I heard from my grandfather when he was alive." Alpha Elijah added further in that same excited tone.
It made sense how easily he accepted the fact that I was a Werecoyote, not a werewolf like him. "Don't show Tracy to anyone until I will be sure that you are safe in this pack. My own sister is your enemy and I know her well. I don't want you to get hurt." Alpha Elijah whispered softly. I saw concern in his eyes for me.
It made my heart flutter to see concern in his eyes for myself. He never said it out loud. But I knew he cared about me. "I know that too. Don't worry. I have been cautious. And I will remain cautious. I promise I will not be careless about this." I replied to him in a low tone, promising him what he actually wanted to hear from me.
A wide and beautiful smile appeared on his face. He leaned his head towards me and pressed his lips on my forehead. "Don't get nervous about anything as trashy as this. There is no way I will leave you on your own. You are my responsibility. And I will protect you." Alpha Elijah whispered softly while his lips were on my forehead.
"I know! I believe you more than I believe myself. I trust you more than I have ever trusted my own angels." I whispered back as I snuggled up with him again. He chuckled softly as he heard me. He covered our bodies with the comforter. My head was back on his chest. I closed my eyes as I was relieved. There was nothing I needed to worry about anymore.
