ARTEMIS' POV:-
A few days had passed after that incident. Gregory was not saying anything. But I heard Lauren talking to Elijah. According to her, I was poisoned. It was wolf's bane. Since I was a coyote, it was not as deadly for me as it was for the others. Elijah wanted to tell my mom everything but I told him not to. I didn't want any problems with anything. And if my mother knew that I was in danger, she would ask me to live with her. Finding her was one thing. But I had my own different lifestyle. Plus, I didn't want to disturb their family. I knew that Victor was very welcoming and he even offered me my own personal bedroom at his place.
I just didn't want to be a burden on them. Plus Elijah was getting very demanding. I knew he wouldn't let me stay anywhere else but at his apartment. I could hardly remember what actually happened. It was all dark. And every time I tried to remember what happened to me, my head hurt like bitch. Tracy decided to leave it be because it was too much for us to handle.
I was standing in the middle of the cemetery. Ryan and I had been investigating wild pack entries all along. Ryan was with me but in his wild wolf form. Elijah had given us that task a month ago. And we were asked to keep it quiet. Until Emma fucked it all up and we had to bark it out in front of everyone.
Thankfully, Ryan and I were able to control the situation. We always searched the area with the same plan. One remains in their human form, the other one shifts. So we could cover up in case of being discovered by the humans. Living among humans was a difficult task. Humans were nosey. And didn't let us keep our peace. We all had to be so cautious while dealing with those nosey creatures running around us.
I heard Ryan's wolf howling. That alerted Tracy as well. I stripped my clothes off of my body as fast as I could, shifted into my wolf's form and followed Ryan's howl. I was running in the direction of where Ryan's wolf had howled for me.
I was following that howl when I suddenly heard rustling sounds. Tracy stopped in the middle and looked around. She sniffed the air. We picked up that same kind of pungent scent from around that I mostly sensed whenever Alisa was around. Tracy quietly ran behind the gravestones and hid behind the graves. She was watching her surroundings. Tracy heard a set of paws walking towards our direction. Tracy kept changing her place to make sure the wild wolf wouldn't catch up on us. Tracy was smelling the air to find Ryan as well. But he was nowhere near us. It was possible that Tracy was surrounded because we couldn't hear some more wild wolves coming in our way.
In case of an emergency, Ryan and I were told to call for help. He was able to howler but I couldn't risk it. Firstly, I was in my coyote form. Secondly, I didn't know how many wolves had surrounded me. Thirdly, I couldn't shift back either to protect Tracy because my clothes were nowhere around and I was told that the Wild wolves take their chances as soon as they see a naked woman, especially a naked she wolf. There was a possibility that if I tried to step out, they could get me and rape me. That was another thing I couldn't let those bastards do to me. Thankfully, Tracy had much more experience to deal with that kind of emergency situation.
That's why she didn't stay in one place. "Why are we tiptoeing? Is that even a thing for us wolves?" I asked Tracy as she changed her location. She was hiding behind the headstones, keeping her head lower so no one would get us. I was surprised to see that it was actually working. Since none of that fully grown ass wolves were able to detect us anywhere near them.
They could sense our eyes on them. They could sense us around. But they couldn't get to us for some reason. "It's something the coyotes can do. If they want to hide, no wolf can get to them. So yeah, it's a thing for the coyotes." Tracy replied to me in a low tone as she walked behind one of the wild wolves.
That one was going its separate way. Tracy was still tiptoeing but she increased her speed. She jumped on the wild wolf from behind. Luckily, it was not able to detect us by the very last moment. Tracy's front paws hit his back, breaking its backbone. He was about to open his mouth to howl and alert his pack. Tracy grabbed its throat between her jaws tightly for a few moments. Then she ripped its throat out of its neck. Blood pooled all over Tracy's fur coat, turning her White and Grey coat into red. Tracy washed the blood off of her fur along with the scent of the wild wolf by rubbing her body on the ground.
Tracy ran away from that wolf. She ran towards the trees. She climbed up on one of the trees and waited. "Where the fuck Ryan ran off to? If he is now around, how are we supposed to deal with these mother fuckers. These bastards have us surrounded. Ryan is nowhere to be found. The others are not aware of the fact that we are running after a wild pack. This actually sucks." Tracy growled angrily as we were watching the wild wolves running around, trying to find us. Tracy was worried if we got caught, there was no way we could live until help would arrive. We were far away from the building where Elijah lived. Plus no one knew what we were doing.
I had asked Elijah to inform the others as well. But Elijah asked me to investigate it discreetly. It was all because of Emma. Elijah thought someone was provoking her. That's why Ryan and I were the only two wolves who were looking for the wild pack. Tracy and I heard Ryan howling again. He was howling for help. I guess I was not the only one who was surrounded. Ryan's wolf was also surrounded. "It's a suicidal move to call for help when you are surrounded. Did he not know this?" Tracy spoke angrily as we saw all the Wild wolves running in the direction where Ryan might have been stuck. Tracy was angry because we were supposed to break the silence as well.
"We need to help him. If these bastards got to him as well, he is done for. Do something." I yelled at Tracy as she didn't move at all. She growled angrily as she heard me. She raised her head and howled loudly to let Elijah know where we were. Her howl was loud and it was longer so the pack cou get to us as soon as possible. Tracy jumped off of the tree and ran in the other direction.
"Why are we running away from them? Are we not supposed to run in the direction where Ryan might be?" I asked Tracy as she ran as fast as she could. She jumped into a newly drugged up grave to hide from the wild wolves.
She covered her fur coat with the dust so our scent couldn't be followed. Tracy then jumped out of the grave and ran behind the treeline. "If we follow them, they will see us. If they see us, we are dead meat. There is a reason why Elijah asked us to keep our true form a secret even from all the pack members. Werecoyotes don't exist anymore. That makes us a rare species. Do you know what happens to anything that's rare? They get framed on someone's wall." Tracy replied to me in an angry tone. She was watching the wild wolf that was walking towards us. Tracy was practically scaring me. And since no one was coming to help us, I understood the fact that we were on our own.
Tracy was trying to stay alive. That's why she was hiding and attacking from behind. Coyotes were not as huge as wolves were. They were half of the wolf's size. Jumping in front of one wolf meant we were dead. That's why we couldn't follow Ryan. "That idiot. I told him to stay close. I told him to stay right by my side. The sound of his howler, I think he is about thirty miles away from us." I growled angrily as I heard Tracy. If only Ryan would have stayed closer, we would have found a way out of this mess. I couldn't leave him on his own. No one was coming to help us. And we were surely screwed.
The wild wolf jumped on us as Tracy let him see her head. Before he would have gotten to us, Tracy kicked his face. He was about to open his mouth to howl but Tracy bit his tongue and ripped his tongue out. He growled in pain and fell on the ground. Tracy jumped on him, breaking its ribs. The wild wolf tried to breathe but his wounds didn't let him. Tracy slit his throat with her claws and ran away again. She bathed in the sand again to cover her scent. She jumped into that same grave and hit inside this time. It was not a very good place to hide. Because we were exposed for their attacks.
"I think we should be on a higher ground. In a grave, we are vulnerable. We can be attacked from anywhere. What are you going to do then?" I asked Tracy in a low tone as Tracy was trying to look around. She jumped out of the grave after hearing me. But as soon as we jumped out, we came face to face with a wild wolf. Tracy jumped on him and clawed his eyes out first. So he wouldn't be able to confirm what we were. The pain made him step away from us. Tracy kicked him from her back paws. The wild wolf fell into the grave. Tracy filled the grave with the soil and ran away. It was a close call but we were safe.
Tracy got up on the trees again to keep her eyes on the ground from the higher place. It was easy to watch around. "That was close. He almost had us. Thanks for making me get out of that grave. He might have buried us in the ground back there." Tracy spoke as she darted another wild wolf that was following the scent of his dead friend.
It was not impossible for them to get to us since we were practically exposed. The only reason they didn't get to us by then was because Tracy was a coyote and the wild wolves were looking for a wolf. Tracy's claws were bigger. So it was almost impossible for anyone to figure that out.
"Just try to stay alive until someone hears our calls and gets to us. I hardly think there is anyone who might have heard either my call or Ryan's." I replied to Tracy in a low tone as Tracy was looking down. I sensed something. That pungent scent around me. Tracy turned her head and growled under her chest. A wild Wolf jafd spotted us. He fell down on the ground along with me under his front paws. I howled loudly as he clawed Tracy's back.
I laid on my back and with the help of my back paws, I kicked him off of my body.. luckily, he went flying towards the Crane. The digging nails in the crane went through his head. Limping in pain, Tracy changed her location again. Tracy was hurt. And the scent of her blood was going to lead those bastards straight towards us.
