ARTEMIS' POV:-
The meeting hall echoed with gasps as I told them about what Alisa had been doing. I never got the chance to go inside her apartment but I had a hunch that she had been hiding more things from us. "I also found Alisa snooping on your mail. She was literally taking the mail from your box and checking it." I added in a low tone. I never found out what Alisa was looking for. But I figured that she was trying to hide something from Elijah.
Elijah growled angrily as he heard me. "Wait! I saw that too. And when I asked her, she said that Artemis opened the envelopes and left it in the box." Ryan spoke in a low tone. All heads turned in Ryan's direction. He shrugged his shoulders as he saw us all staring at him.
I turned my head towards Elijah. My heart skipped a beat as our faces were inches apart. I cleared my throat and I looked away. "See! We all have seen something. We just didn't know what to do." I added in a low tone. I was trying to distract myself from all those thoughts in my head.
Elijah gently squeezed my hand. I leaned in and laid my head on his shoulder. Elijah cupped my face with one of his hands and started caressing my cheek with the pad of his thumb. "Why would she want to kill you, Artemis? And why frame Emma?" Uncle Grey asked me in a low tone.
I shrugged my shoulders as I heard his question. I had been thinking about it a lot. But I hardly got anything more. "I was the only wall between her evil plans. She wanted me out of her way. Since she had decided to eliminate me, she wanted a sheep to take the fall." I replied in a low tone. That was the only reason I could think of why Emma was Alisa's target.
Elijah growled again. He was controlling his anger because he didn't want to scare me. "Alisa needed a figure to blame for my death. Emma was the perfect person since we never actually got along." I added further. There was nothing else that would make Alisa go against Emma.
Emma looked up at me with tears in her eyes. She broke down into tears. Amy wrapped one of her arms around Emma to calm her down. "This is sick. She has been playing with us since she arrived. And some of us played right into her sick games." Daniel growled angrily at Emma as he heard Emma sobbing.
Amy looked up at Daniel and glared at him. Daniel shrugged his shoulders and narrowed his head. I guess Amy was not bragging that she could dominate Daniel sometimes. "But Alisa was not playing Emma. Emma was doing whatever Alisa asked her to do." Amira asked in a confused tone. I thought about that fact too.
Emma just wanted me out of the picture. She didn't care about anything at all. That's what Alisa saw and she decided to use it in her favour. Emma was a brainless bitch who played right into Alisa's hands. "It doesn't matter. Alisa was trying to kill two birds with one stone. She just used Emma." I replied to Amira in a low tone. The actual answer to that question could ruin the relationship between Elijah and Emma. And I didn't want it.
If I wanted to destroy their relationship, I would have done it when Emma tried to kill me. I kept my mouth zipped because I didn't want any fuss over Emma's bitchy actions. "And Emma let herself be a bitch for a wild wolf. She didn't question herself once that she has the blood of an alpha on her veins and she shouldn't do something like that." Elijah growled angrily at Emma. I knew he was angry. But I couldn't do much in that case.
My job was done when I left the decision in Elijah's hands. I couldn't come between the siblings. "Emma and I never got along. Alisa saw that and she used it against us. It was just one of her tricks." I tried to calm him a little. Because Elijah was already angry at Alisa. I knew him well. And I knew he could take it out on Emma.
Elijah sighed and nodded his head slowly. "That still doesn't explain what Emma did to you." Uncle Grey growled at Emma. Now I had no idea how I could calm Uncle Grey.
Uncle Grey turned his head towards Ryan. Ryan's cheeks turned slightly pink as Uncle Grey looked at him. For some reason, it felt like there was something between them. "Alisa might have planned all that. But Ryan almost died because of Emma's selfishness and jealousy towards you." Uncle Grey added as he placed a hand on Ryan's shoulder.
"Not to mention, Artemis almost died as well because of Emma, twice actually. And she was assaulted because Emma jeopardised the plan to kill the wild pack." Daniel spoke in a low tine as he walked towards Amy. He grabbed her hand and pulled her up on her feet.
By that time, Emma was the only one on her knees. The others were sitting on the couches. "I can understand that. We can handle that later. But we definitely can't let Alisa run away." I replied to them in a low tone. I knew they were all angry at Emma. But they were not supposed to forget that Emma was not the actual enemy. It was Alisa.
Elijah stood up from his couch and walked towards Daniel. "Daniel, Uncle Grey, you go and get that bitch locked up in a dog cage. Lauren and Noah will be looking for the father of her children. I need to make a few calls." Elijah ordered everyone with a few tasks. They all nodded their heads and walked away.
Elijah walked towards me and he sat down on the couch again. "But she is pregnant. We can't lock her down. It's against the laws of our pack. You told me that." I asked Elijah in a low tone. Alisa was a bitch but her babies were innocent. I didn't want anyone to hurt her babies.
Elijah shook his head as he heard me. He wrapped one of his arms around my shoulders and pulled me to his chest. "Think again. She was knocked up by a wild wolf. I will be calling Alpha Lars to ask him. If it's true, he must have broken the engagement." Elijah whispered softly in my ear.
"Still! It is not the sin of those innocent babies inside her. She is a whore. She shouldn't have gotten them in the first place." I growled in annoyance because I was angry. I wanted to kill her. But those innocent souls saved her ass.
Elijah stood up and scooped me up in his arms. I gasped loudly as he carried me bridal style in his arms. "Elijah! What are you doing?" I asked him in a shy tone. Elijah carried me out of the pack's meeting place.
Elijah walked towards the elevator. I wrapped my arms around his neck and buried my face in his chest. "I am doing what is best for you." Elijah whispered softly in my ear then placed a soft kiss on my cheek.
"You are going to carry me all the way to your apartment and to my bedroom?" I asked Elijah, pouting at him. He chuckled as he heard me.
"Nope! I am going to carry you to my apartment and all the way to MY bedroom." Elijah growled at me and I gasped loudly. He was teasing me. And he knew well how much his teasing words had effects on me.
"I am supposed to be sleeping in your bed again?" I asked him in a low tone and crossed my fingers. To be honest, I didn't want to sleep in my bed for now. I didn't know if it was because of the trauma I went through or because of the nightmares. Or maybe I just wanted everything to be over and his arms felt like heaven.
Either way, I just wanted to be in his bed. "Yes! For a while. Until you start to feel better. Or until you want to be in my bed." Elijah replied to me in a low tone, knowing well what I wanted from him. A wide smile appeared on my face as I heard him there was nothing else that I had wanted.
Elijah punched the button for the penthouse. As the elevator door closed, Elijah's lips were on mine. He kissed me so passionately. The whole world around me started to melt. It felt like I was dreaming. If it was a dream, I didn't want to open my eyes again. Because that dream was beautiful. And it was everything I had always wanted. Being away from Elijah made me realise something that was most important. I didn't care about anything else. I just wanted to be with him.
