CHAPTER 85

  RYAN'S POV:-

It was Friday, the last day of the boring week. I had plans with Grey. He had called me to his place. We were supposed to be going somewhere very special to him. It had been a few months since we started dating. But we were discreet about our relationship. At first, I believed it was because Grey was ashamed of me. But it took me a while to realise that he actually did it for me.

The final bell rang and I released a sigh of relief. I didn't even want to attend the classes when Grey informed me that he was taking me somewhere. But he asked me not to overreact and attend my classes. Surely, I was going to take something more than just extra from him for making me attend my classes for the day.

I quickly grabbed all my books and my bag. I got up from my seat and went towards the lockers. I quickly stuffed my books inside the locker and locked it back. I stepped out of the college, typing a text message for all three of my sisters. I just informed them that I was going on three days training with Grey. I couldn't say anything else as I was not allowed to disclose my relationship with Grey just yet.

Hopefully, I would be able to tell the world that I was with Grey. I hopped into my bike and wore my helmet. I started the engine and zoomed away. It took me about thirty minutes to get to Grey's place. I parked my bike and went in.

I smiled widely as the door was already open. He might have left it open for me. I opened the door and the very next moment, the smile vanished from my face. I saw Grey's place all trashed as I stepped in. His furniture was turned upside down. Some of the furniture was even broken. Shattered glass was everywhere on the floor. I sensed some unknown sets of scents in the apartment. Along with a familiar but metallic scent in the air. My eyes went wide as the realisation hit me like a brick in my head. I followed the scent around the apartment building but I couldn't find anyone.

Looking around the place, I was able to find droplets of blood all over the place. That's why I caught the scent of blood everywhere. It felt like someone spattered it around the apartment for a motive. Like they didn't want us to find out what actually happened to Grey.

By the time I looked around the place, I was panicking like a child who got lost in a crowded place and got separated from his parents. For a few minutes, I was debating with myself and my wolf. We were arguing about what we were supposed to do next. My wolf, Jo, wanted me to inform Alpha Elijah or maybe Daniel because it all definitely smelled fishy. My conscience agreed with my wolf.

But at the same time, I didn't want to disclose the hidden relationship Grey and I had. I didn't want to ruin what we had between us. It was all so frustrating. I was never the person who could make a decision. I was scratching my head like a madman while trying to figure out what I should do next.

"Son of a bitch! Just call Artemis. She will be able to come up with some ideas to help Grey. We don't know what happened to him." Jo cursed at me then gave me an option to call my stepsister. I liked that idea very much. I knew I could tell Artemis everything. She would be able to figure a way out to help everyone and my secret would be safe with her.

On top of all that, Artemis was the Luna of the pack. That made her one of the main three people of the pack. It meant I was not going to be breaking any of the rules of the pack. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and dialled Artemis' number.

I might have waited for three seconds maybe. Artemis picked up the call on the first bell. "Hello!" I heard her from the other side of the line.

"Oh! Hey! Artemis! I need your help. But I want you to come alone. I didn't know what else to do." I hurriedly blabbered everything without breathing. I was panicking because I was not sure if Grey was actually fine or someone happened to him.

"Slow down, Ray! Tell me where are you? I am coming to you, right now." Artemis tried to calm me down. I was practically yelling at my phone. She might have heard me biting my nails as I was talking to her. Then she asked me where I was.

As I had expected, she was there to help me out. Without asking anything. Without even considering the fact that it could be dangerous for her to go somewhere without knowing the danger around. "I am at Grey's place. Please, don't tell anyone else for now. Not even Amy and Amira." I informed Artemis where I was and forbade her from telling anyone about it. Even my own two sisters.

Artemis and I got along as if I was her twin. My own sisters were not in sync with me the way Artemis and I got attached. She practically became my best friend. And I tried to be there for her as well. "Okay! Just calm down! I am on my way." Artemis replied in a calmed tone. I knew she was trying to calm me down by just using her voice.

To be honest, it was working. She and I learned tricks to help each other in times like this. I released a sigh of relief because I knew Artemis would help me out. "Okay! I am waiting for you." I replied in a low tone. Artemis hung up almost quickly. I heard her starting the engine of her Scooty as she hung up. I knew she would be at Grey's place in no time. Until then, I had to stay sane.

It took her hardly fifteen minutes to get to Grey's apartment. Artemis pushed open the main door and walked straight towards me. I was sitting on the stairs, in front of Grey's bedroom. As soon as I saw Artemis, I stood up and ran towards her. Artemis quickly engulfed me in her arms, patting my back gently to help me stay strong. "I didn't know what to do. I was not sure whom to inform." I whispered in her ear while I was weeping quietly on her shoulder. Artemis was patting my back but I could feel her head moving.

Artemis was probably looking around the place, searching for answers to what actually happened to Grey. "It's alright! Tell me everything you saw. But first tell me if you are alright? You are not hurt, are you?" Artemis asked me in a concerned tone as she pulled away from me. I couldn't say if I was actually alright or if there was something wrong with me.

I was just too panicked to answer that question. "Define being fine! I am not hurt physically." I replied to Artemis in a low tone, staring at her face while trying to wipe my tears. They were nowhere to be stopped.

"I mean all this around. I smell blood in here. Are you hurt? I know you are emotionally devastated. I can see that." Artemis explained her question a little further for me. She pulled a tissue out of her pocket and wiped my tears. She was actually the greatest friend anyone could ever ask for.

"I was not attacked. I just found this place all trashed. Grey was taking me somewhere. He asked me to be at his place. When I came here, I found this place like this." I replied to Artemis in a low tone. I couldn't even thank her for being there to support me. I was too worried about Grey, I even forgot to praise Artemis' kindness.

"Did you tell anyone? Anyone besides me? That Uncle Grey is missing?" Artemis asked me in a low tone. I could understand why she would ask me that. Because I was supposed to inform Grey's family.

Because of the promise I made to Grey, I couldn't tell the truth to anyone. They would ask me why I was there. And I couldn't break my promise. "No! I couldn't. I didn't know what to do. Grey and I, well, we … we are…" I tried to explain to Artemis why I couldn't call the others.

Well, practically, I failed to tell her anything. I was not ashamed of our relationship. But because of that damn promise, I felt like I was betraying Grey. "I know you two have been dating each other discreetly. You don't have to be worried about that piece of information." My eyes widened in shock as Artemis spoke in a low tone. I had no idea that she knew.
