CHAPTER 86

  ARTEMIS' POV:-

I was looking around, sensing different sets of scents all over the apartment. I was trying to separate all the scents I had known from the strange sets of scents I cou catch all over the place. I was not sure if Ryan could sense them as well. But I had to make sure I would be able to remember all those scents when time comes.

I was sure that it had been a long time since the abductors took Uncle Grey away. Their scents were barely around. And I could hardly catch them. Thankfully, Werecoyotes were born with this unique ability that no one shifters had in them. Looks like the Moon Goddess was very pleased while creating the Werecoyotes. She gifted us with the ability to remember any kind of senses that we wanted to keep in our memories. Every sense was like a memory to us. And that's how we functioned.

Maybe that's the reason why the supernatural world was terrified of the Werecoyotes. They were exceptionally strong and sharp. Even werewolves couldn't hunt them that easily. "I know you two have been dating each other discreetly. You don't have to be worried about that piece of information." I replied to the question Ryan might have in his mind.

A sudden surprised gasp made me turn my gaze in Ryan's direction. I guess it was surprising for him that I knew about him and Uncle Grey. Or maybe Tracy was right. There was nothing going on between them. I was just over exaggerating things. "Wait! How? When? I mean.. we never told anyone. We were careful." Ryan asked me in a surprised tone. He was practically stuttering while he tried to ask me how I knew.

Practically, it was really very obvious. They both blushed whenever they looked at each other. Especially Ryan's face would turn into an actual tomato whenever he was around Uncle Grey. They would usually crack dirty jokes around each other. Another obvious fact that they might have been dating. "Oh please! The way you both looked at each other, I figured it all out a long time ago. I just never said anything because I didn't want to prey on your secrets." I bragged a little too much. I had my doubts until Ryan tried to ask me how I knew. Then he confirmed that they were dating secretly.

They were cautious and it was understandable. They had a huge age gap between them. And Uncle Grey might have wanted to make sure that Ryan was comfortable with this relationship. That's why they were secretive about their relationship. "I didn't know it was that obvious." Ryan mumbled softly while staring at the ground.

By then, I was done analysing all the scents in the apartment. I was able to memorise all the strange scents. It was going to help us when we would go out, looking for Uncle Grey. "Anyways! Forget about that for now. I am calling Eli here. He is the alpha of the pack and also Uncle Grey's family. He needs to know." I changed the subject as I pulled my phone out and unlocked the screen.

I sensed panic around me. Ryan hand started panicking the moment I mentioned calling Elijah. It was my duty to inform Elijah and Daniel as well. They were the Alpha and the Beta of the pack. "I can't be here. They can't know why I was here." Ryan growled as he walked towards the door. He was practically running away.

I followed him behind. I grabbed his hand and pulled him back inside the apartment. Ryan looked at me with tears welling up at the corner of his eyes. It was painful for him but there was something forcing him to go. "Why? Are you ashamed of your relationship with Uncle Grey?" I asked Ryan in a low tone. I knew he couldn't be ashamed of their relationship. He was afraid of something. Or maybe he was protecting someone.

I knew that papa and mom knew everything about Ryan. And they had no problems with his personality. In fact, they were pretty supportive towards him. That's why it was shocking for me to see him run away at the very moment when Uncle Grey needed him. "No! Not at all. It's not me. It's because of that stupid promise I made to Grey before we started dating." Ryan replied to me angrily. He was not happy about that promise. Of course, Uncle Grey wouldn't have thought about the scenario of getting into trouble like that.

No one would have thought about Uncle Grey getting abducted while he was inside his apartment. Either it was someone he knew or there was something he had been keeping from the rest of us. Either way, he was the only one who could have told us anything. But he was not around to tell us what happened in his apartment. Unfortunately for us, the cameras on his floor were not working as well. He kept them off for a curtain reason.

The security of his building were humans. He couldn't risk being discovered just because he owned that building. That's why he kept all the cameras off. The floor he was on belonged to him only. The pack members were the only people who could get to his floor. Not even security was allowed to get to his floor. It just didn't make sense how he was abducted. Ryan narrowed his head. There was a sad look on his face. "He didn't want me to tell anyone about it until he would be sure. I can't break that promise." He whispered sadly while weeping quietly.

I almost felt sorry for Ryan. He was hanging between his responsibility as a member of the pack and the responsibility of the promise he was supposed to keep in Uncle Grey's absence. He looked torn. And I knew he needed my help. "Then don't tell them everything. Tell them that you and Grey were going somewhere. They don't have to know all the details." Tracy spoke to Ryan for the first time. She decided to jump in and help Ryan.

When I was assaulted by the wild pack alpha, Ryan was the very person who helped me. The others left me on my own. Amira and Amy tried to talk to me but I was just too ashamed to tell them anything. Papa and mom, I didn't want them to worry about me. Ryan and I had worked together. We trusted each other. Ryan helped me get my confidence back. He helped me get my life back. Maybe that's why Tracy decided to help Ryan as well. "Will that be alright?" Ryan asked Tracy in a concerned tone.

I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him tightly. "Yeah! You sure have secrets. If you don't want to tell them everything, they can't ask you. They can't interfere in your personal affairs." Tracy replied to Ryan in a calmed tone. I was rubbing my hand gently on his back to help him calm down.

I knew he was dying to know what happened to Uncle Grey. And he didn't want to leave. He wanted to help us find Uncle Grey. The truth was, I knew we would need him as well. As his sense of smell was pretty amazing, he could track scents. "Okay! I think I can do this." Ryan whispered softly while nodding his head. I pulled away from him. He quickly wipes his tears off of his face.

Ryan was trying to stay strong. That's what he needed to do when someone he cared about was in trouble. "Thank you so much, Artemis. You are amazing." Ryan thanked me with a huge smile on his face.

I unlocked the screen of my phone again and quickly dialled Elijah's number. As Ryan was also listening, I turned on the speaker. Elijah answered my call on the second bell. "Hello!" I spoke in a low tone.

"Hey, baby girl! Did you miss me?" Elijah replied to me in a seductive tone. My cheeks suddenly burned as I heard him. I was definitely not expecting that.

"Ehem! You really had to do that!" I yelled at him angrily. I was suddenly embarrassed. I was not very good at discussing my personal life in front of people as well. Even though everyone on the pack knew that Elijah was my boyfriend, I still was not open about it around others.

I heard Elijah chuckling softly as he heard me yelling at him. I cleared my throat twice and turned off the speaker. I didn't want Ryan to hear Elijah being all lovey dovey with me in front of Ryan. "I umm.. you need to get to Uncle Grey's apartment. He is missing." I finally informed Elijah about the matter.

I heard him growl as he heard me."What do you mean by missing?" Elijah asked me in a serious tone as he heard me. I sighed as there was practically no easy way to deal with that situation. I needed Elijah to begin the search.

"Just come to his place. You will know everything." I growled at Elijah angrily. He was expecting me to explain everything to him on the phone. It was already difficult for me to talk about it in front of Ryan. He was literally biting his nails.

I heard some rustling from the other side of the line. I guess he was hurrying out of his office. "I am on my way. Stay there. Don't go anywhere." Elijah ordered me in a firm tone.

"I won't! I am waiting for you." I calmly replied to him. He hung up and I put my phone back into my pocket.
