ELIJAH'S POV:-
Artemis and I were in the underground tunnels. I was following her lead since she was the only one who caught a scent in that apartment. My eyes widened in horror as I was questioning her again. "That's impossible! She is following that same path. I forgot about this a long time ago." I thought while following her. I zipped my mouth because I didn't want to question her again. Every time I didn't listen to her, she was the only one who ended up hurt.
Dean suddenly growled angrily as he heard me. "That's because we have never been here ever again. Except for that one time. When you accidentally followed your father to the tunnels." Dean reminded me of that time. It was true. It happened once. And I promised my father to never mention it in front of anyone at all. Not even my mother.
I secretly followed my father in the tunnels. I didn't go too far away. My father caught me. He took me back home and asked me to never talk about it again or go into the tunnels. "That's the thing! No one has any idea about the existence of this place in the pack, not even Grey." I replied to Dean while following Artemis. My father never told anyone. Neither did I. And I forgot about the tunnels because I never heard about it again.
I almost felt Dean rolling his eyes at me in annoyance. "Let me remind you one thing, my friend. She just told you. She is following a scent she caught in Grey's apartment." Dean growled at me angrily as I kept questioning Artemis' abilities. He didn't want to hear anyone doubting Artemis. Dean almost choked the life out of Emma when she accused Artemis of having an affair with Ryan.
Yeah! Emma was that stupid. The whole pack knew that Ryan was interested in men. And only I knew back then that Artemis and Ryan were step siblings. "That means, she is unaware of these tunnels as well." I added in a low tone. I was not sure why I was questioning Artemis. Maybe because of those tunnels.
"Exactly! That's what I am trying to tell you. So just calm down and follow her. That's the best we can do for now."Dean replied to me in an annoyed tone. I growled as I heard him. Dean could be very annoying most of the time. The only time he was not annoyed if anything, not even me, was whenever we were with Artemis. He called her his peace. She brought peace to him.
"I am thinking a little bit further. You know, only dad knew about these tunnels. And the day he died, the secrets of these tunnels also died with him." I added in a low tone after a few minutes.
Hearing me, Dean suddenly started wiggling his tail fiercely. As if he was thinking about the same thing that I was thinking about. "Are you saying there is a possibility that your father didn't die?" Dean asked me the question I had in my head.
"I am saying that there can be a possibility. After all, we never found his body. And Grey and I are the only two people in this world who know that truth." I replied to his question. There was a confused frown on my face. I couldn't help but think that there could be a possibility.
"You are wrong. Grey's wolf and I also know that your father's casket was buried empty in the ground." Dean added in a low tone. He was telling the truth. Grey and I were never able to find my father's remains. But we told the pack that he was not in good shape. That's why we locked his body in the casket.
After running for five minutes, we finally reached the point where my father caught me. That was the point where I was stopped by my father and he took me back. At that time, my apartment building was not done. We lived in the old building my father owned. It was the neighbouring building of Grey's. The same building that Emma owned after my father. "That's it! That's all I had seen when I was little. That memory is blurry but I knew I was stopped right here." I thought while looking around. It was the same. Nothing had changed in those tunnels.
I was not sure when, but I had stopped following Artemis. I stopped in the middle of the tunnels. I was looking around. "Eli! What's wrong? Why did you stop?" Artemis asked me in a concerned tone as she stopped to look at me.
I was staring at her face. I was lost in my own thoughts. "I.. i ah… baby girl, are you sure you are following the right path?" I tried to reply to her but I couldn't form a complete sentence. So I asked her a question that I could come up with.
Artemis smiled widely as she heard me. Then she nodded her head. "Yes! I know I am after a scent I memorised in Uncle Grey's apartment." Artemis replied to my question and my eyes widened in shock.
"Memorised scent? That's new!" I was about to say it out loud. But I was able to keep that voice in my head.
"Don't question her, you dumb ass. She is a Werecoyote. Their memories are way too strong for even the sorcerers to understand. That's why their kind was considered a threat." Dean howled at me loudly. He was angry because I was questioning Artemis' abilities yet again.
I was surprised to hear the abilities she possessed. "So she can actually memorise a scent? Is that what you are trying to tell me?" I asked Dean while staring at Artemis' smiling face.
She was the cutest thing in the world for me. "No! I am telling you that she can memorise all kinds of senses if she wants to. Now quit whining and follow her." Dean growled at me angrily again.
Artemis snapped her fingers in front of my eyes twice. "Sorry for being a total jerk. I haven't seen this part of my pack before. That's why I was surprised." I replied to her in a low tone while smiling.
The smile on her face vanished. "Oh! Well, I am just following a scent, I told you already." She added in a low tone. She was starting to question herself because I was questioning her.
I narrowed my head because I knew Dean was right. I was not supposed to question her abilities. "Yeah! Yeah, I know. I will shut up now and follow you without interrupting you." I replied to her in a low tone.
Artemis stretched her neck and pecked my lips. "Eli! You don't have to be so hard on yourself about it. It's alright. You are just worried. I know." She whispered softly in my ear as she wrapped her arms around my torso.
I chuckled softly as I heard her. I also engulfed her in a tight hug. "Baby girl, you are just too good for me." I whispered softly in her ear then I placed a soft kiss on her head.
She pulled away from me. Giggling shyly as she heard me. "We can talk about it later. We need to follow the scent right now before it fades away." She whispered softly in my ear then winked at me.
I frowned in confusion as I heard her. "You said, you memorised it." I asked her in a confused tone.
Artemis sighed as she heard my question. "Yeah! But if the trail is gone, I can't follow it anymore." She replied in a low tone. I guess she was annoyed with all of my questions. But she didn't want me to know that.
"Oh! Yeah! I forgot about it. Let's go." I whispered softly while brushing her hair with my fingers.
She nodded her head then sniffed the air. She started running towards the north. She was faster than me. I shifted into my half wolf form to keep up with her. She amazed me every time. "Artemis! Hold on! You are going too fast." I tried to call her as she was running way too far away from me.
"How can she go this fast?" I asked Dean as I couldn't keep up with her even in my half wolf form.
"She is a Werecoyote, you idiot. She can run faster. That's how she survived the wild pack attack all on her own." Dean growled at me in an annoyed tone as we followed her.
"Yeah! I forgot about it." I spoke proudly while following her. She was way too fast for me to keep up with her.
I stopped in the middle and looked around. She was gone. "Where did she go? She just vanished." I asked Dean while looking around.
"Her scent is here. We can still follow her." Dean replied to me as we sniffled the air. We caught her scent and followed it where it led us.
I stepped out of the tunnels and entered the basement of my own apartment building. "That's my apartment building. I never knew those tunnels are connected with our buildings." I thought while looking around. I thought I knew my apartment building. I didn't know anything at all. There was a passage that connected my apartment building with the tunnels as well.
I followed her scent to the meeting hall. I heard Tracy growling as I entered the meeting hall. She was in her half shifted form while growling at a woman standing in the middle of the hall. She looked familiar. But I didn't care about that woman. I didn't want Artemis to be discovered. "Uh oh! That's bad! She is going to kill her." Dean growled loudly as he saw the look in Tracy's eyes. She had this killing look in her eyes.
