CHAPTER 93

THIRD PERSON'S POV:-

A surprised look appeared on Elijah's face as he heard his sister's response. It was not supposed to be a surprise for anyone. Yet, Elijah was surprised. Maybe because Emma had started to change since that one last incident. Something that shook her to her core and woke her up. Artemis had to poke Elijah in his rib with her elbow to pull him back into reality. Elijah looked at Artemis while blinking his eyes. He cleared his throat after a few seconds as he realised why Artemis was poking him. "Then we better focus on what we have in our hands. We need to find him soon. I have this feeling that he is not alright." Artemis replied to Emma and for the rest of the pack as well.

Elijah was not surprised to hear Artemis. She was practically in charge of all that work since she was the only one who had the ability to catch the scents even Elijah was unable to catch. Artemis' senses were sharper than the senses of the Alpha. "I have this same feeling. What did you find out, Artemis? You were the only one who followed a scent. Did it lead you anywhere else except for the meeting hall?" Elijah asked Artemis in a low tone.

Although Elijah had asked Artemis to go back to their apartment. By the time he got to his apartment, Artemis was nowhere to be found. At first, Elijah got really concerned because they were not even sure if the people who had abducted Grey were sticking around or if they had left already. Then Elijah found a sticky note next to his liquor shelf. Artemis left it in a place where she knew Elijah would find the note. She left him a message that she was going after the scents again. That she couldn't just sit back when Grey was missing. "The trail ended the moment we entered the meeting hall. I am sorry. I couldn't find anything else. I even tried the basement again." Artemis added in a low tone while she was staring at her hands on her lap.

Elijah growled in annoyance as he heard Artemis' response. "Fuck! I actually thought we had something in our hands. You don't need to apologise. I know how much pressure you have on you." Elijah cursed loudly right after he heard Artemis. He lightly ruffled her hair as he told her not to apologise. He knew well that she was trying her best to figure out who abducted Grey.

"It's not the end, though. I found another thing. Something I was not sure about back then." Artemis replied to Elijah in a low tone. She hadn't told that very thing that made her act in front of Elijah.

A confused frown appeared on Elijah's face as he heard her. Artemis made sure that even Elijah would be unaware of Artemis' act. "What was that? You didn't tell me anything about it." Elijah asked me in a low tone.

At that moment, all eyes turned in Artemis' direction. "I didn't want to say anything in front of your mother. I don't trust her. And Tracy has a beef with her as well." Artemis replied to Elijah almost instantly. She was no longer that shy teen she used to be. It took time but Elijah was able to turn her into a confident woman.

A smirk appeared on Elijah's face as he heard her. He had a hunch that she was up to something. He still had no idea how she was able to get something he couldn't even see. But he knew he had to keep her special powers a secret from the pack as well. Artemis turned her face away. As his intense gaze was enough to make her blush. "Anyways, when I attacked her, I was simply checking all the possibilities. She did a good job hiding it, but I was able to catch the scent again." Artemis cleared her throat and spoke in a low tone.

A frown appeared on Emma's face as she heard Artemis. "What are you talking about?" Emma asked Artemis in a confused tone.

Artemis turned her gaze towards Elijah's face, knowing well that she was not allowed to disclose her powers in front of anyone. That's how Elijah was protecting her from the pack as well. Elijah blinked his eyes once, signalling her to speak up. "The trail practically didn't end the way you think it ended. Your mother had that scent on her." Artemis replied to Emma in a low tone. Her eyes stayed on Elijah, so no one would be able to see her eyes.

It was the easiest job for anyone to read her eyes. Artemis was like an open book. To keep a secret, she had to make sure she was not looking in their eyes. "You are saying she was in Uncle Grey's apartment. That she was part of his abduction?" Amy asked Artemis in a low tone.

"No! I am saying that she is somehow involved. A single touch might have left the traces of that scent on Elijah's mother." Artemis answered Amy calmly.

Emma had a surprised look on her face as she heard Artemis. Except for Elijah and Ryan, everyone else was surprised hearing Artemis. Elijah was not surprised because he had known the truth and Ryan was not surprised because he had worked with Artemis. The others were shocked because Artemis possessed some unbelievable abilities. "In that case, we need someone on her tail." Noah was able to pull himself out of that shock. He spoke in a low tone.

Elijah and Artemis looked at each other's faces. They all nodded their heads together. "Alright then, I have tasks for all of you. Now listen closely. I have different tasks for each of you." Elijah announced as they all were ready to go and find Grey. Everyone sat down on the couches to listen to Elijah's plan.

---------------------------------------------------------

Artemis was standing on the roof of a mall. She was staring at an incomplete mall building that surely looked abandoned. "Grace is going inside that mall. It looks abandoned from outside. But I doubt that she is going into an abandoned building to talk to ghosts or spiders." Tracy informs Dean. Elijah was inside the mall, pretending to be reading a newspaper. While Artemis was on top of the roof, keeping her eyes on Grace.

"Is there any way to get inside that abandoned mall? We need to find out what she is up to?" Dean conveyed the message from Elijah to Tracy and Artemis.

Hearing Elijah's message, Artemis tried to look for a way to get into that abandoned mall. But it was definitely impossible. "I doubt that. There is no way. We can't get into the building. There are two guards at the entrance. The guards look pretty strict." Tracy informed Dean. The response made Elijah and Dean growl in annoyance.

"That bitch is up to something. I have a feeling that something big is on its way to us." Tracy said in an angry tone. She made sure to shut Dean before she talked to Artemis. Mate or not, Tracy and Artemis were always careful not to let Elijah know about their personal thoughts.

Artemis rolled her eyes in annoyance as she heard Tracy. "Just calm down, Tracy. We have to be sharp to deal with this. Eli is not a baby. He can take care of himself." Artemis replied to Tracy in an annoyed tone. Tracy sometimes treated Elijah as if he was a child.

So many times, Artemis also started behaving like Elijah's mother. It took her a while to control that emotion that made Tracy behave like a mother for Elijah. Tracy could still give Artemis a hard time sometimes. But Artemis learned to shut Tracy up whenever she needed to.

Tracy's ears picked up someone's heartbeat. "Wait up! Someone's coming in our way!" Tracy warned Artemis as they hid behind the wall. As Artemis had her nose and eyes focused on Elijah's mother, she couldn't use it to sense the smell to know who it was.

As the person got closer, Artemis grabbed them with their throat and slammed them with the ground. Artemis was about to rip their throat out with her claws when she saw the face of her stalker."Shit! What the fuck, Emma? What are you doing here?" Artemis asked in a low growl as she stood back up on her feet again. She gave Emma a hand so Emma could get back up on her feet again.

The moment Artemis slammed Emma with the ground, Emma screamed so loudly, making Artemis go deaf for a minute. "You scared me to death! What were you planning on doing? Were you going to kill me?" Emma almost yelled at Artemis. She didn't want to yell at Artemis since it was Emma's fault to begin with.

Emma was not supposed to be anywhere near the place where Emma's mother was. Elijah gave her a task to keep her away from her mother. "You shouldn't have snuck up on me. You should have known better. I am on duty for now." Artemis growled at Emma as she went back to her place.

"Yeah! I know that already!" Emma growled in annoyance. It was not that simple for Emma to admit why she was there.

"Why are you here in the first place? What are you doing here? Are you not supposed to be doing your own task that you were given?" Artemis asked Emma in an annoyed tone. She knew it would be useless because Emma would never answer Artemis.

"Yeah! About that!" Scratching the back of her head, Emma nervously tried to answer Artemis.

Emma was not sure how to explain to Artemis why she was actually following Artemis. "Emma! Why are you here?" Artemis got angrier and asked Emma firmly.
