THIRD PERSON'S POV:-
Two weeks passed. Elijah and Grace started bonding. The search for Grey started to get lazy. As if something or a certain someone was starting to become a wall. The pack hardly had anything to do. Elijah hardly briefed them about their tasks. It started to feel like the paco was shattering without Grey. Artemis left Elijah's apartment a week later Grace arrived. Elijah hardly paid any attention towards Artemis. But that was not the reason why Artemis left Elijah's apartment.
She didn't trust Grace. Even after that story Elijah had told to Artemis about his mother. The Story sure sounded pretty legit. But Tracy and Artemis were sure that Grace was involved in Grey's abduction. Artemis was asked to leave the task she was given within two days.
Artemis' suspicion turned into reality that day. Grace saw Artemis following Grace. Artemis was able to get away pretty easily. But of course, Artemis knew Grace would do something. The moment she stepped in, Elijah ordered her not to follow his mother anymore. Maybe, he just believed his mother. And Artemis couldn't hold it against him.
Elijah was busy talking to his mother. The elevator door opened and Emma stepped out of the elevator. She looked at her brother laughing and talking to their mother as if nothing had happened. "What is going on here? Elijah! I thought we were supposed to be doing something?" Emma asked Elijah angrily. She could hardly control her wolf from leashing out at her mother.
Grace turned her gaze towards Emma. She smiled widely as if Emma suddenly made her so happy. "Oh, Emma! My beautiful daughter. Come here. Sit with your mother." Grace spoke in a low tone while she was patting the couch placed next to her.
Emma could hardly believe what was happening. She looked at Elijah. There was an encouraging smile on his face as he nodded his head for Emma to sit down beside their mother. "No, thank you! I am not interested in sitting with you." Emma replied to her mother in an arrogant tone as she wrapped her arms above her chest.
Emma was not in the mood to play games when she knew Grey must have been waiting for his pack to come and rescue him. Emma couldn't eat or sleep, thinking about her uncle's condition between his abductors. "Oh my! I can understand your frustration. I can understand your anger, my dear. But please, don't push me away like this. I am your mother." Grace pleaded with Emma as she stood up from the couch she was on.
Elijah gritted his teen angrily as he heard his mother pleading with his sister. Grace wanted to be accepted by Emma. And she wanted to make it up to all those years Emma had lost. "You are the woman who almost killed me. My mother died the very same day. The only parent I have is Uncle Grey." Gritting her teeth in anger, Emma yelled at her mother.
Emma couldn't control her anger as she heard her mother trying to create a relationship with Emma. While she was actually the one who had left Emma to die. "I can understand your feelings towards Grey. But he is fine. Ask your brother." Grace added in a low tone. She informed Emma of something Elijah hadn't told anyone.
A confused frown appeared on Emma's face as she heard her mother. She turned her gaze towards her brother. Elijah smiled and nodded his head. "What the fuck! What is she talking about?" Emma asked even though she had seen Elijah nodding his head, backing the news that Grace had given Emma.
Emma was angry. She couldn't believe that her brother was practically doing everything their mother wanted him to do. "She is right. I received a letter from Uncle Grey. He went away for vacations." Elijah replied to the question Emma had asked. The calmed look in Elijah's eyes made Emma worry about Grey a little more.
"What about the blood we found in his apartment? And the way his apartment was trashed." Emma asked Elijah in a concerned tone. There were lots of questions in her head. There were lots of things that were not clear about Grey's disappearance.
Emma had also started to feel the changes Artemis was talking about more often. She left the apartment and went to live with the Rodriguez family. She wanted some privacy in her life. And ever since Grace stepped into their lives, Artemis hardly had any secrets she could keep from Grace. Grace was spying on Artemis.
Artemis knew that Elijah was completely wrapped around his mother's fingers. That's why, it was useless to tell him about his mother. She had no other way to deal with that situation. So she left. "He said he had his reasons. And he will explain everything to both you and I when he comes back." Elijah replied to Emma's question calmly.
"And you believed that letter because?" Emma asked Elijah in a curious tone. She couldn't believe her ears. Elijah was trusting a piece of paper against a mountain of evidence they had found.
Elijah gritted his teeth angrily. Emma had started to ask so many questions as she and Artemis had started to get along. "Because it was Uncle Grey's writing. It's not a lie. I will be informing the pack in today's meeting. I have a bunch of announcements. You better be there." Elijah replied to Emma in an annoyed tone.
Emma was yet again surprised by Elijah's words. She was not looking forward to hearing Elijah say that they would stop the search just because Elijah found a worthless piece of paper with Grey's handwriting on it. "That's not how we work, Elijah. He never did that. Uncle Grey never left us." Emma almost yelled at Elijah angrily.
Elijah growled angrily as Emma yelled at her older brother. "Grow up, Emma. He lived all his life taking care of us both. Both of us were spoiled brats. If he wants to take some time for himself, why are you getting so worked up for?" Elijah yelled back at Emma angrily.
Emma looked at Grace. For a moment, she could swear she saw a flash of grin on her mother's face. As if she was enjoying the fight between her children. It was more of a flash. Emma was not sure if she actually saw that grin or if she was imagining things. "I am not getting worked up. I just can't understand why you are suddenly so busy building a rotten relationship you buried deep into the ground years ago?" Emma growled back at Elijah. She wanted to know what suddenly changed.
Emma grew up hearing Elijah talking nothing but ill about their mother. And up till the day Grey disappeared, Elijah used to claim that he was going to kill his mother for making his father suffer so much. "Because I want a family. She made a mistake. We all make mistakes. Everyone deserves a second chance." Elijah replied to Emma, defending every single sin her mother had committed.
It felt like she was looking at a different Elijah. It was not her brother. He was not the same Elijah. He used to hate his mother so much. "Would you be saying that if Uncle Grey was here with us? Does he know she is back in our lives?" Emma questioned Elijah in a low tone. She wanted to know if Elijah told Grey about their mother.
Emma had a hunch that Elijah was doing everything on his own. That he might haven't told anything to Grey. Since Grey was the only one who knew Grace, Emma knew there was something fishy going on. "He doesn't know anything and I didn't tell him either. He deserves to have a life. Let him be, Emma. Grow up." Elijah growled at Emma angrily. He was frustrated with all those questions Emma was asking him.
Emma gritted her teeth as she turned her head towards her mother. "Whatever game you are playing, I will find out. And yes! I don't fucking trust you. And I will never trust a selfish bitch like you." Emma growled at Grace. She was straightforward about how she actually felt about her mother.
Yes! All her life, she wanted to have a relationship with her mother. Yes, she wanted to know her mother. But after meeting her and seeing the circumstances, Emma just couldn't bring herself to trust that woman. "Watch your language, Emma. She is our mother." Elijah warned Emma angrily.
"It doesn't matter. You can't change my thoughts about her." Shrugging her shoulders, Emma replied to Elijah. Then without waiting for his response, she walked back towards the elevator.
"Emma! Come back here." Elijah yelled at Emma from behind. But before he could have gotten any closer to the elevator, the elevator door closed.
"Let her go, son. She will come back." Grace spoke in a low tone, thinking about plans in her mind that she was going to use to get Emma back as well.
Elijah turned his head towards his mother. He sighed as he walked back towards his mother. "I am so sorry. I have spoiled her so much. Now she hardly listens to me." Elijah apologised to his mother for Emma's behaviour.
Grace grabbed Elijah's hands and pulled him back towards the couches. "She can't respect me after what I did to her. But believe me. If it was not for your father's behaviour with me, I would never have left you both." Grace replied to Elijah in a low tone. She had tears in her eyes as she tried to explain to Elijah why she had to leave.
"I know, mom. You told me everything. I can't believe dad could be that cruel to you. I can't believe he abused you for all those years." Elijah added in a low tone. He was told the whole story a day after Grace had arrived.
"All I ever wanted was to have a family. I loved that man. I trusted him. But he just ruined me." Grace placed her head on Elijah's shoulder and spoke in a sad tone.
Tears started flowing freely from her eyes as she told Elijah everything. "When I saw the opportunity in my hands, I just ran as fast as I could." Grace added in a low tone while she was crying.
Elijah cupped her face and wiped her tears. "I know, mom. You told me everything. I know everything. Please, don't repeat all those painful memories. Don't remember them." Elijah whispered in her ear as he pulled her in a tight hug.
"Oh, Elijah! I am so happy to be with you. You have been my baby boy. Thank you. You understood me from the beginning. I knew you would believe me." Grace added in a low tone, thanking Elijah for understanding her.
"Of course, I would believe you. Tears never lie. I know you were not lying to me." Elijah smiled widely as he replied to his mother politely.
"Thank you, Elijah. And please, don't be mad at Emma. She is just a child. She grew up without me. You can't know her pain." Grace thanked Elijah again. Then she asked him not to be mad at Emma anymore.
Elijah chuckled as he heard his mother. "Fine, I wouldn't say anything to her. I just want you to be happy." Elijah whispered softly while patting his mother's back gently.
"I am happy. I am back home. It's all I have ever wanted. This pack needed a Luna. I will help you to make this pack stronger." Grace promised Elijah to help make his pack stronger. Although Elijah knew well that his pack was strong, he didn't want to break his mother's heart.
"Of course, it is your pack. I am sorry for whatever I said to you before. I just didn't trust you back then." Elijah apologised to his mother for everything he did or said to his mother the moment he saw her face again.
Elijah even asked Artemis to apologise to his mother. But Artemis just didn't budge. She told him that she didn't make a mistake to apologise in the first place. "You no longer have to apologise for that. I know you didn't trust me back then. So just relax." Grace replied to her son in a sweet tone while rubbing his bicep.
Elijah chuckled as he pulled away from his mother. "Okay, whatever you say. By the way, you will be attending today's meeting. It is time I introduced you to the pack as Luna." Elijah informed Grace about this meeting he had called after two weeks. He invited his mother to be at the meeting. Grinning mischievously, Grace just nodded her head. What looked like a smile to Elijah, it was actually a winning grin.
