ARTEMIS' POV:-
I stepped into the elevator to get to the meeting hall. Elijah had called for an emergency meeting. A lot had happened. And things started to change so suddenly. It felt like Grace was changing everything around the pack. I had to go live with my mother. Grace was practically snatching mer personal space from me. And I couldn't take it anymore.
Elijah also started to change. He hardly paid any attention towards me. He never had any time for me. For the first time, Elijah asked me to sleep in my room two days after his mother had arrived. It sure pissed me off. And I didn't trust that woman one bit. She was lying through her teeth and she had no shame.
I decided to keep away from Elijah so I could focus on the task in my hands. Tracy had been looking for Uncle Grey all this long. We went to check his apartment again. To my surprise, the whole apartment was cleaned up and anyone hardly knew anything about it. As if someone purposely cleaned it all up. As if, someone wanted us from finding the truth.
Sje didn't know what I was and she didn't know that I had all the scents memorised. Tracy was a little concerned if Elijah would tell her my secret. It couldn't be good. Because according to Elijah himself, if anyone else learned about my secret, I would surely be in danger. Werecoyotes were feared by all the creatures because of their sharpness and their abilities for hunting.
The elevator door opened and I stepped out. I found Emma pacing back and forth in the corridor. As she saw me walking towards her, she ran towards me. She looked panicked for some reason. She was about to open her mouth. At that very moment, Elijah stepped out of the door. "All of you, inside the meeting hall." He rudely barked the order at all the pack members standing in the corridor.
Without waiting for our response, Elijah went back inside. Rolling my eyes at him, I walked towards the meeting place. I couldn't believe Elijah could behave like a total jerk towards us. It all began the day Grace stepped in our lives. Tracy hated her more than I ever hated my stepmother.
I locked the door as everyone was inside. We went to take our seats. Grace was sitting in the chair I used to sit in. I was a little surprised but then again, that woman was changing everything in the pack. She was practically changing the laws Elijah's father placed upon the pack. And they were to be strictly followed.
Without making a fuss over that one chair, I went towards Ryan. I took my place between Ryan and Noah. Tracy was growling angrily. All eyes were on me and I could almost hear the thoughts in each of their heads. The pity in their eyes was somewhat a little too annoying. I took a deep breath to calm myself down. I couldn't let her win.
Elijah looked at me. I felt his eyes on me but I kept my eyes everywhere but at Elijah. I wanted to keep my distance from him as well. "Let's begin. First of all, I want you all to stop looking for Uncle Grey. He is fine and he is safe. I just received his letter." Elijah spoke in an excited tone. As if he had actually seen Uncle Grey safe and fine with his own two eyes.
The hall echoed with a bunch of gasps. I might have been the only one who was not surprised because of that announcement. It was not so sudden. I was expecting that. Since I was getting so close to figuring out what those assholes were hiding inside that building. "Wait! What? Alpha, we need to find him. He must be in danger." Ryan was the one who almost yelled out loud in surprise.
That poor thing! He was too innocent to understand the dirty game Grace was playing. I had no idea how I was going to calm him down after all that. "He is not in danger. He left for vacation. He wants to get a life. It's what he told me in the letter I received." Elijah replied in a low tone. No one had ever been rude to Ryan. He was the sweetest person in the pack. And everyone loved him.
Ryan's eyes started to water up. I saw tears forming in the corner of his eyes. He was hurt. And the worst part was that he couldn't tell anyone. "But that's not possible. He would never have left… I mean, why would he leave without letting us know. And his apartment. It doesn't make any sense." Ryan tried to question Elijah again, trying to keep his promise to Uncle Grey while trying to convince everyone to keep on looking for Uncle Grey.
Tracy growled angrily as she saw Ryan weeping so quietly. As for that fucking bitch, she was practically enjoying everything. "I know! We all had been worried since he disappeared. And he shouldn't have done that. But I just received his letter. He wanted to get his own life. That's why he left." Elijah replied to Ryan in a low tone.
Elijah didn't want to talk about it much. This letter sounded fishy as well. But I doubted Elijah would lie about something connected to Uncle Grey. My differences aside, I knew Elijah cared about Uncle Grey. "Then what about his trashed apartment?" Ryan asked again in a crying tone. I grabbed his hand and gave it a little squeeze for him to calm down.
Elijah gritted his teeth as he heard yet another question Ryan asked him. "He didn't say anything about that trashed apartment. But he reassured me that he was fine and he would come back whenever he feels like coming back." Elijah replied to Ryan in an annoyed tone. Maybe that was the very reason why Emma looked so pale the moment I saw her in the corridor.
"But how could he…" Ryan tried to ask Elijah again. Maybe he wanted to see that letter. Or maybe he was just too heartbroken after hearing Elijah. Only I was aware of his feelings for Uncle Grey.
Elijah didn't let him finish his sentence, though. Elijah slammed his hands on the table as he stood up from his chair, fuming in anger. "Why are you so fixated on finding him? He wants to have a life. He has all the rights. Why are you getting so worked up over this matter, Ryan?" Elijah growled at Ryan angrily.
Ryan narrowed his head as he had nothing to tell Elijah. "Pardon me please! I am not feeling well. I shall take my leave." Lowering his head so no one would be able to see his tears, Ryan pardoned himself from the meeting. Without another word, he walked away.
I felt sorry for him. He couldn't even tell anyone how he was feeling. He couldn't tell anyone what actually happened. That one promise he made to Uncle Grey, bound him so unfairly. Once Ryan left, Daniel cleared his throat to get everyone's attention. "So, will we stop looking for him? We don't need to waste our time anymore?" Kevin asked Elijah in an annoyed tone.
Tracy almost growled out loud at Kevin. But I was able to control her right on time. "Yes! That's what I am saying. Everyone, stop looking for Uncle Grey. We can go back to our usual tasks." Elijah replied to Kevin. He didn't even ask Kevin to be a little respectful while talking about Uncle Grey.
"What's the other thing you want to talk about, Alpha?"Daniel asked Elijah in a low tone. I guess he was one person who was no longer in any kind of shock.
"Oh! Yeah! As you all have met my mother. I don't need to introduce her to you. Now that she is back, I would like to tell you all that she is the Luna of this pack as she deserves." Elijah replied to Daniel then announced Grace as the Luna of the pack.
Tracy was absolutely right about that bitch. She was practically getting everything she wanted. And there was no one to stop her anymore. "That's not right! Artemis is Luna of this pack. You can't take it away from her." Emma stood up and yelled at her brother.
As always, Emma was being disrespectful towards Elijah. As always, she was not ready to submit. And for the first time, I was grateful for that big mouth of hers. "Shut up, Emma. You are not Alpha of this pack. I am the alpha and I make decisions here." Elijah yelled at her angrily as she had questioned the Alpha yet again.
Emma growled angrily at Elijah as she heard his response. "You can't give that seat to this strange woman. You are making a big mistake." Emma yelled at Elijah again.
I didn't care how good it started to sound but I couldn't let Emma get into trouble again. Grace was not me and I didn't want Emma to get into a new sort of trouble. "Sit back down, Emma! We were not playing a suggestion game." I growled at Emma knowing well that she would listen to me. She was still feeling guilty for everything that happened to me because of her foolishness.
Foolishness! That's all I called it. Because I couldn't hold it against her for the rest of our lives. It was not how I was taught by my mother. "But Artemis!" Emma tried to argue but I was not going to listen to anything.
"I said, sit down, Emma. Right now!" I growled at her again angrily.
Huffing in anger, Emma sat back down on her seat. Seeing my influence on the pack members, Grace suddenly gritted her teeth in anger. I smelled her jealousy. It actually filled the hall. "How dare you talk to my daughter that way? Apologise to her right now." Grace stood up from her seat and howled at me angrily.
I raised a brow at her with an annoyed look on my face. I turned my gaze towards Elijah's face, hoping for him to say something to his precious mother. I had no problem putting her in her real place. I was just too occupied with Grey's disappearance, I didn't want to get into any more trouble. "Do as mom is asking you, Artemis. She is Luna. You are not allowed to defy her in any way." Elijah replied to me while staring into my eyes.
That was the last straw. I knew he was practically in absolute control of his mother. Since I had no idea how she was controlling him, I couldn't help him either. "Last I checked, the rules of this pack don't apply to me. If you are done ordering nonsense, I have work to do." I replied to Elijah in an arrogant tine as I stood up on my feet again.
Elijah growled angrily as he heard me. But before he could have said anything, Grace suddenly stepped forward. "What does that supposed to mean? She can't talk to you this way, Elijah." Grace asked Elijah in an exciting tone.
There was a confused look on her face. Bit I figured that it was a fake look. I heard the excitement in her voice when she asked Elijah that question. I also smelled her excitement in her sweat. "I can and you can't fucking tell me what I am allowed to do and what I am not. Your orders don't apply to me, you old hag." Instead of letting Elijah reply to his mother, I replied to her.
I was worried if Elijah would tell her my secret powers. "Watch your tone, Artemis!" Elijah growled at me angrily.
Elijah no longer scared me. I was no longer scared of him. I just gave an annoyed look in response. "How can she talk to you this way? She is part of the pack. Every wolf must follow the rules." Grace asked Elijah, pouring oils on the dying flames.
