CHAPTER 21. Mutual Benefits

There was a prolonged moment of silence after I announced that. They just stared at me, probably waiting for me to laugh and tell them that I was playing the fool with them. But I remained silent, allowing them to comprehend my words.

“Princess…” Gideon was the one who finally broke the silence. I looked over my shoulder only to find his face in complete shock. I almost wanted to laugh at the thought that today was the day I made Gideon both speechless and shocked. However, to see the wise and brilliant royal advisor react this way could only mean one thing. He most definitely does not agree with my plan. “This is-”

“This is ridiculous!” Isaiah’s booming voice interjected. I twirled back around to face him, he was clearly annoyed, hands clenched into tight fists that were in full display as he placed them on the table. “You can’t expect us to happily agree to this shitty plan of yours!”

“Oh? Polyamorous relationships are common among royalty, especially those in high positions. Having more than one spouse has never been frowned upon. My father had two wives at the same time, your father, the Eastern Emperor before your late brother had several concubines of various genders, first and second might I add.” I reminded Isaiah, who clearly did not appreciate me bringing that up.

“The difference between those you have mentioned and yourself is that you are an omega.” Cassian chimed in. Before he could continue, I quickly cut him off.

“It was said that an omega to be seated on the throne was impossible and yet here I am, one step closer to making that into reality.” I countered.

Gideon rushed over to stand next to me. “Princess, please reconsider. There is no way you will be able to-” Gideon’s words trailed off as he scanned the three alphas.

“It’s fairly simple the way I see it. I have something the three of you want and I could benefit from what the three of you are offering me. The union among us will not only secure security and resources but the gradual increase of power will be prominent in the long run. Isn’t that what all of you want so badly? Power?”

“You think you can sweet talk your way through this? You are asking us to initially be your concubines! That is an insult to alphas like us.” Cassian claimed.

“I never said I was taking the three of you as my concubines. My intention to marry is still my priority here since that is the terms I had agreed upon before I can even claim the throne. Hence, marriage is still the final goal.”

“You plan on making the three of us your husbands then?” Augustus finally spoke up after so long.

“Yes. Even if none of you will bear the title of emperor, you will still have the power and authority of an emperor.”

“Just like how Lady Isabella and Lady Marie were never officially dubbed as empress after marrying Emperor Bryon and yet they still did the duties of one and had the authority of one.” Gideon muttered to himself.

I nodded. “Exactly. The way I see it, this kingdom will flourish with the four of us ruling over it.” I said, ending my sentence with a sweet smile.

“You sure know how to sell an idea with sweet and fancy words being sprinkled around, Princess.” Cassian said, leaning against the backrest of the chair as he watched me. “But surely, you of all people should know that it is unheard of for an omega to have multiple pairs. Only because it is near impossible after all.”

What Cassian had mentioned is true. Unlike alphas and betas, it is not necessary for them to mark their partners due lack of intense heat cycles. But it’s different with an omega since they can only be marked by an alpha once and they will be forever paired throughout their life. There are no known tales about omegas having multiple partners. I could not rebuttal this fact of his, but naturally, I had already decided how to respond if this was brought up.

“There’s an easy solution for that. If the three of you agree to this plan then I will not be marked by any of you. There is no law that states that a married couple ‘must’ mark each other and with the help of suppressants and timing my cycles, I will not need to be marked to deal with my monthly heat.” I confidently said to them.

“Hah, you really thought about all this in such a short period of time? I’m rather impressed.” Cassian called out.

I decided against telling him the fact that I am gambling with my life here to convince them to agree with me. “I will not force any of you to agree to this since the initial letter I sent to the three of you can be considered null at this point.”

“You are more power-hungry than I initially thought you were, Princess.”

“Don’t misunderstand, Duke of Ashborne. I merely want to fulfil my father’s final wishes as well as provide the best for my kingdom. The opportunity to achieve both is right in front of me and I would consider myself to be foolish to not reach out for it,” I clenched my hands to my side, the result of my nerves building up ever since I took a step into this room was alarming.

“Haha! This is truly amusing!” Cassian laughed.

“Is this just entertainment for you, promiscuous Duke?” Isaiah snapped.

“Well, it is now that I think about it. If the three of us agree to this, I cannot imagine how we’ll all be one happy family.” He chuckled.

“You can play house together with the Ghost Prince over there. I’m out. I’m not agreeing to these terms.” Isaiah said as he stood up from his seat.

“So this is the extent of your resolve?” I asked, cursing myself mentally for even opening my mouth.?

Isaiah’s eyes snapped back at me, the rage behind those gorgeous eyes were incredibly intense that I had to remind myself to breathe.

“What did you say?” he growled.

I swallowed down a thick lump in my throat, knowing that whatever I decide to say next would either successfully gain me three future husbands or would start a war if Isaiah decided to use that sword of his that hung around his waist.

“I learnt a lot about the three of you during our marriage interview. Like it or not, I believe all of us have similar end goals and the only way for us to achieve that is to work together.” I started. “I am not here to ask for your eternal devotion nor any ounce of love. This was and will always be strictly business after all.”

“Is this the part where you try to convince us?” Cassian raised an eyebrow at me. I ignored him and turned to Augustus first, meeting his almost translucent orbs staring directly at me, watching and waiting.

“Prince Augustus, you wish to prove your parents wrong, to break the stigma that was forcefully placed upon you due to the circumstances of your birth. What better way to do that than to gain power?”

Augustus did not get the chance to answer as I quickly moved on to the next person, to Cassian who had an irritable smirk plastered on his face.

“You wish to use me as an excuse to run away from the expectations placed upon you, do you not, Duke of Ashborne? I am here to offer you just that as well as to provide the necessary wealth and authority to expand that…business of yours.” I said, regarding both his reasons for accepting this proposal letter in the first place.

I finally turned to Isaiah, surprised that he did not just storm off after disagreeing a moment ago but I think I know that he was waiting for me to convince him to start because in the end, looking past their egos, they seemed like the type of men who would do anything to get what they want.

“And you, Lord Regent Isaiah, you are more power-hungry than any of us in this room and yet due to your loyalty and love for your family, you would not dare cross that line. I admire that, truly, hence why I am offering you all the power you can fathom. The Southern Kingdom is the second most powerful kingdom after all and we are able to rise to the top in due time.”

The room was silent to the point where all I could hear was my erratic heartbeat. I was starting to get nervous that the other would be able to hear it as well. But their silence was worrisome. Here I thought I was able to convince them by feeding them what they wanted but in their hesitation, I can see otherwise. I needed to do or say something to give them a push. I was already too far in to back down now. I took in a deep breath, one hand casually moving to my back, knowing that what I was going to say next would agitate them.
