Hours turned to days and days turned to weeks in a blink of an eye after the sentencing. I was left to fix plenty of problems that were left behind from Lady Marie but thankfully for me, I had my three alphas there to lend me their hands.
Paperwork after paperwork and still the mountain of documents was not getting any smaller. My time in the palace had only gotten more tedious and my coronation had not happened yet, but I could not really complain.
Since work has only increased for all of us, I found it hard to even see my husbands around anymore. Our schedules did not align, we barely had time to meet for breakfast and dinner because some worked through the night like Cassian and Isaiah while others started their day extremely early. Some days, I don’t even see them at all.
“Is everything alright, princess?” Rodrick asked as he was giving me his daily report. I blinked only to find myself staring at a blank piece of paper. I turned to look at Rodrick, a concerned expression on his face. He and the others would oftentimes get too worried over me after all this time.
I had already recovered from my mistreatment when I was kidnapped and I feel as though I became stronger whenever Rodrick and I were to train together but even then, he could not hide his concern from me.
“Yes, I’m just a little bit tired.”
“You should try to get enough rest, princess, the full moon is upon us,” he noted.
“Ah.” I muttered in realisation, remembering how my heat cycle was also approaching. I started to ponder if I should tell my husbands about this or if I should even ask one of them to help me. I cleared my throat and shook my head, ridding me of such thoughts when someone else was in the room. “I will, Rodrick. Thank you for worrying about me.”
“It is my duty to do so.”
I made a face. “It is not.”
Rodrick laughed. “I meant no harm by that, princess, I merely jest.”
I sighed, leaning back onto my chair. “I know.”
“Now that I have given you my report, I shall take my leave.” He bowed.
“Wait, Rodrick. Can I ask you a question?”
“Yes?” he stood in attention.
“If I recall correctly, you have siblings who are omegas, correct?”
Rodrick nodded. “I have an older sister who is an omega and a younger brother who is also an omega.”
“Are they…married?”
“My older sister is, yes.”
“Then…I’m sorry if this is a strange question but was she marked by her partner?”
“Yes. Although it has been a secret in the family due to certain circumstances, my sister got married to a village boy who is an alpha. Their story is rather complicated, but they seem happy even though they have to both hide their second genders most of the time.”
I stayed silent, understanding why they hide that fact since there was a lot of burdens that would follow by just announcing your second gender to the wrong people.
“I see…”
“Could I ask why the sudden curiosity?”
“When I first decided to marry three alphas, we all had a mutual understanding that I would not be marked by any of them since I was afraid of the complication that might follow.” I told him, remembering how once an omega is marked, their heat will only affect the person who marked them. This would be inconvenient for me since I had three alphas after all.
Rodrick nodded in understanding. “But getting marked by an alpha could ease the burden of your heat on your body.” He explained.
“I know but…is it fair for me to be marked by just one of them when I am legally bound to three? I know I sound rather…promiscuous or even greedy but now that I’m finally starting to care about them, I would rather not do anything that would risk ruining our relationship.”
Rodrick smiled. “You have grown affectionate for the three alphas, princess?”
“…I suppose so.” Rodrick laughed, a small happy sound leaving his lips. I frowned. “What’s so funny?”
“Forgive me, princess, but I am just overjoyed to see you like this. I often thought that you would not be happy in the circumstance you were in due to the hostility among the four of you. But many things happened, and I can see that your relationship with the alphas have truly changed and even their attitudes with each other has gotten better.”
I unconsciously nodded. “You are right…ah,” a thought then appeared to me as I stood up suddenly. He looked at me, confused. “Thank you for your time, Rodrick but I have to go now.” I said, circling around the desk and heading to the door.
“Where are you going in such a hurry?”
“I need to make preparations!” I huffed as I rushed away, leaving him behind without any further explanation. I had to gather the alphas tomorrow night to test out this idea of mine. I was sure that they would not be too pleased by this idea, but I made my decision, I wanted to be marked.

It was slightly hard to breathe even with the suppressant in my system. I stared at myself in the reflection of my bathroom mirror, looking at how my cheeks were tainted red, and pupils dilated. The familiar scents of my alphas caused me to turn to the door. My scent should be mild to them due to the suppressants but for me, I was starting to go mad by their alpha scent alone.
“I don’t understand why the both of you are here too.” I could hear Cassian’s voice.
“Cordelia clearly gathered us here for a reason.” Augustus said.
“In her bedroom? In the middle of the night? Should we at least switch on the light?” Isaiah blurted all these questions.
“It is off for a reason.” Augustus noted.
“Maybe she’s holding us a surprise party.” Cassian commented.
“You are delusional.”
“It was just a guess!” Cassian huffed.
“Hm, something doesn’t feel right. Where is she anyway?” Isaiah asked, while clearly ignoring the other two.
I took a deep breath and headed towards the door, trying my hardest to walk straight and not allow the tremble of my legs to seem too noticeable. I started to overthink even before I reached the door, wondering if they were going to refuse my request. It was a strange one after all, but somehow, I had a feeling that it might just work.
Augustus sighed. “You two complain a lot.”
“Huh? Why the hell are you so calm anyway?”
“I am not? I’m rather concerned as to why she even gathered us like this.”
“What if she wants a divorce?” Cassian blurted.
“Huh?” Isaiah snapped. “Why would she want that? Things are hectic as it is with us trying to get everything back to normal. A divorce would only mess things up even more.”
I let out a sigh just by listening to them try to figure out why I asked them to come to my room tonight. I then pushed the door open, feeling my heart threaten to stop the very moment I felt their eyes on me. I donned a simple white nightgown with a matching robe and strangely, watching them in their night attire was too much for me to handle. They wore similar outfits, plain shirts and dark trousers. The sheer simplicity of it only made them more desirable.
I was quick to avert my gaze when these thoughts started to come to me. I slowly made my way closer to them as their scents melded into one intoxicating smell. By the silence that filled the atmosphere, I knew that they could sense that something was not right. I knew they could tell that I was not my normal self.
“Are you alright?” Augustus broke the silence.
I nodded quickly. “Y-Yes, I apologise for calling the three of you here all of a sudden but there is a proposition that I would like to offer to all of you,” I said.
“Proposition?” Cassian asked, clearly intrigued. “Oh, pray tell, my love.”
I cleared my throat, finding it growing strangely dry. I then forced myself to look up at them as my nerves were growing by the second. My attention then went to the window, where I left it open early and hence the gentle evening breeze entered, and the room was illuminated by the silver hue of the full moon outside.?
“I know that this might be a shock to the three of you and I understand if you want to refuse. But—” my words trailed off as though I could not make myself say it. I then turned back to look at them.
“What’s wrong, speak freely, Cordelia.” Augustus said.
“I-I want to be marked.” I glanced over at the three of them to watch as their expressions turn to one of confusion. “I want to be marked by all three of you.”
