"Achilles!" Diana called in fury as she barged into her brother's bedroom. What she saw at the Donovan residence left her speechless and at that moment, she was so angry that she could not keep it to herself.
When she saw Bella in her dilapidated state, she ordered for her to be cleaned up properly and given food to eat. She even sounded a severe warning to both Mr. Donovan and his daughter Louisa not to lay a single finger on Bella ever again.
She wanted to bring Bella to the castle, but she knew she couldn't do that without her brother's permission. He was the Alpha of the pack and he controlled who got into, stayed in and left the castle. Diana could not go against his word!
"Diana, I want to be left alone!" Achilles admonished but that didn't scare Diana at all. She was here to report to him the crime that was being committed in the pack and she wasn't going to leave until she had told him all that he needed to know.
"Achilles, there is an atrocity going on in this pack which you cannot turn a blind eye or deaf ear to!" Diana explained as she took a stylish pose before him.
Achilles heaved out a heavy sigh of exasperation as he looked up at his very stubborn sister. He very well knew she wouldn't leave until he paid attention to her, so he decided to listen to her so she would get done with what she wanted to say and get going already so he can have his peace and quiet.
"What now, Diana?"
"Bella, it's Bella!" At the mention of the name Bella, Achilles snapped his head up to look at Diana with his blazing red with anger. He clenched his jaws and fists and gave her a deadly look.
Ever since that incident, Bella's name was the last thing he wanted to hear of. He was still convinced that Bella had seduced him. He hated her and he wanted nothing to do with her!
"Diana, how many times have I asked you not to mention that name before me?"
"This isn't about what you feel about that girl or what happened between the two of you."
"Whatever it is, I do not want to hear it!" He warned , almost roaring but that still did not scre Diana. She stood straight up tall before her brother who was seated on her bed.
"Yes, you will. I went to pay her a visit at her master's house…"
"And why would you do such a thing?"
"Achilles! You seem to be forgetting that you took that girl's innocence!"
"No I did not!" Achilles scolded in anger as he aggressively rose up from the bed and stood tall before Diana, overpowering her with his height, but Diana didn't bulge.
His angry state made him look scary and menacing, but Diana wasn't squeamish. She had a lot of things to tell him and he was going to listen to her whether he liked it or not.
"Diana get out of here before I lose my temper and do something I will regret!"
"I dare you! All this fester about not caring about the poor girl is inhumane. I understand that you are confused and angry, but so is the innocent girl"
"She is not innocent, she seduced me"
"No she did not!"
"And how are you so sure about that?"
"Because I read her mind and I saw it. She is innocent!"
"Then what exactly happened that night? Why was she in my bedroom? How did she even get there?"
"The Moon goddess hasn't said anything about that, but with time she will!" Diana defended and that only enraged Achilles.
He could not understand why his sister kept defending that girl.
He also lost his innocence that same day, but she didn't care about that fact. She was only bothered about Bella and that made him furious.
"Diana, you know… I'm beginning to think that you did this!" Achilles accused as he took a few steps away from Diana. "I'm beginning to think you planned this all. You didn't want me to marry Louisa, so you did this so I won't be able to marry her. You did this, didn't you?" He accused firmly and that enraged Diana.
Diana, in anger, took two steps closer to Achilles and when she was close enough, she gave him a solid slap across his cheek, with tears shimmering in her eyes. Achilles looked at her, totally dumbfounded and she locked their gazes.
They had never had a sibling fight this intense before, but this one had gone too far.
"I will never play with your future like this. Yes, I did not like Lousia for you, but that doesn't mean I will stoop so low to do a thing like this. For the umpteenth time, this is the Moon goddess' doing. I don't care what you think, but that is the truth!" She spat out firmly and Achilles stood glued to the spot, confused on what to say next.
A big wave of guilt washed through him and as he swallowed dryly. That was when he realized that he had gone too far with his words, but he had no intention of apologizing to Diana. At least not yet.
Diana swallowed the painful lump that had formed in her throat and quickly brushed off the tear that had escaped her left eye.
When her breath was steady again, she looked up at her brother to ride on.
"As I was saying…"
"Diana, this conversation…"
"Just listen!" Diana cut him off firmly. "I went to pay Bella a visit, but I couldn't find her at her master's house. He told me he had sent on an errand and that he wouldn't be back anytime soon, but when I read his mind, I saw that he was lying. He had Bella locked up in a dark basement for two days, she had had nothing to eat or drink. She was pale at the verge of death when he brought her out. Treating a fellow werewolf as such is punishable by the pack rules and I think you should ensure that happens. Bella is suffering out there and she needs you to come to her rescue, not as the man with whom she had a one night stand, but as her Alpha. It is your duty to her as her Alpha!" Diana explained and Achilles' knees grew weak.
A sharp pain coursed through his heart and he took a step backwards and turned around so Diana would not see from his eyes that he was hurt.
Bella's beautiful image resurfaced in his mind. He could only imagine how bad she looked after such horrible treatment. He quickly wiped off the tear that had escaped his cheek and masked his face with an eternal frown before turning to face Diana again.
"I'm sure you already handled the issue over there. They will obey your command and Bella will not. be treated badly anymore. So there is no need for me to intervene"
"What?" Diana asked in fury. "Is that all you have to say?"
"I'm afraid, yes. Organize another ball and send invitations to all the unmarried maidens in the pack. I will be choosing a different bride for myself"
Then he walked out of his bedroom, leaving Diana petrified.
She had no idea her brother was so heartless!
However, her brother was not heartless. What he just did hurt him more than anyone else.
He knew Bella did not seduce him, he knew she was innocent of the crime he accused her of and everyday, he looked at the bloodstains on the sheet they had mated on and cried because of the guilt he felt in his heart.
However, he did not want to accept and marry Bella because of some reasons.
Reasons he was not ready to share at the moment.
