Achilles had transfered one of the couches from the sitting area and put before Bella so he could sit on it and watch her sleep.
After eating three bowls of cornflakes that morning, she went back to bed, but he on the other hand could not sleep, so he decided to watch her sleep.
What amused him was how fast she fell asleep the moment she got on the bed. She must have really been tired.
It had been more that five hours since he sat on that couch, reading a newspaper and eyeing her at intervals. He knew he had to go his office to work and later on go out to inspect the pack, but he chose to sit in that bedroom and look at Bella as she slept.
He loved her.
He loved her so much that everytime he thought of the fact she could possible not be his mate, his heart shattered into a million pieces. The redemption was something he had always wanted, not just for himself, but for his people as well, but at that moment, he had no idea whether he wanted it because the likelihood of him loosing her to another man plagued him like an illness.
"Alpha Achilles" He heard Bella call and he rapidly put the newspaper down and peeked at her. She was lying on the bed with her eyes wide open and Achilles had never seen such morning beauty in his life before. He placed the news paper aside on the couch and leaned forward to get close to her with a smile on his face.
"What do I have to do to get you to stop calling me Alpha Achilles? The name Achilles itself is quite long and then you conveniently add Alpha to it. How does your mouth not hurt?" He inquired in wonder and Bella chuckled as she sat upright on the bed.
"Can you really blame me? I mean, I've spent my entire life calling you Alpha Achilles, it's gonna take me some time to get used to calling you just Achilles." She explained sincerely.
"Is that so?"
"Yeah"
"No matter what, you have to get used to it, okay?"
"Got it" She replied, nodding your head. "Did you sit here the entire time, watching me sleep?" Bella asked confused.
"No! Of course not. I grew tired of my room, so I decided to come in here and read my newspaper, that's all" He denied flatly and lied.
"By my bed?" Bella asked, giving him a quizzicalal look.
"Yes, by your bed"
"What happened to the sitting area over there? You should've saved yourself the trouble of having to the bring the chair all the way here and just sat there" Bella elucidated and he clawed his hair as he looked from her to the sitting area and then back to her. He was trying to come up with another lie to say to her.
"Well, the lighting over there isn't as good as it is here. You see, I need sufficient light when reading and it seemed to be here, by your bedside. Haven't you ever noticed?" He asked and Bella chuckled in amusement.
"How is that even possible when there are more lights in the sitting area than here? Achiiilllleeesss!" She called and Achilles covered his face with his palm and shook his head. "Stop lying, you might contaminat the unborn child" She cautioned and Achilles gasped dramatically as he looked her tummy.
"Oh my baby" he cooed and stretched his forward to touch her tummy. "I totally forgot about that. I'm so sorry" He apologizeed as he placed his head on her stomach. Bella smiled and leaned against the bedrest to give Achilles more room on her tummy to place his head.
He had been very mushy for the past days and she had already gotten used to him always wanted to touch her tummy or cuddle her and everytime he did that, her heart fluttered and butterflies rose in her stomach.
Achilles was making her feel things she had never felt before!
"So, why don't you just say the truth so he or she can hear it?" Bella asked and Achilles kissed her tummy before looking up at her again.
"When you left for your bedroom, I went back to bed too, but I could not bring myself to fall asleep because I kept thinking about you and all the funny things you said and made me do in the kitchen. I kept trashing around and finally made up my mind to come and see you. I wasn't sleepy, so I decided to watch you sleep and the four hours I spent watching you sleep, will be the best four hours of this entire day." He explained calmly, sincerely and Bella blushed so hard that her cheeks hurt. Her entire face turned tomato red and she was so shy that she couldn't even look Achilles in the face.
She quickly bowed down her head and fiddled with her fingers.
"Bella" Achilles called calmly as he placed his index finger on her chin and gently lifted up her head up so she can meet his soft gaze. "Did I say something wrong?" He asked concerned and the softness of his made Bella want to melt on the spot. His voice was so charming and his words comforted her and gave her some assurance that could never be broken.
"No, you did not. I… I'm just really shocked you know, I … wasn't expecting you to say that"
"But you wanted the truth, so you got it or, don't you like the truth?" Her asked.
"Of course I do. I like the truth"
A long moment of silence followed that statement. Both of them sat on their spots, looking at each other and smiling like idiots.
Achilles kept looking at her lips and his heart kept tempting him to do something he knew he should not do.
Kiss her.
He wanted to kiss her so badly, but he was scared of how she was going to react. Things were begining to be good between them. She was getting more comfortable around him and he did not want to ruin that, but he felt like he would die if he did not kiss her.
"Bella" He called as he rose from the couch and sat beside Bella on the bed. They were facing each other, but Bella's gaze was plastered on the bed.
"Achilles"
"Please look at me" He urged and Bella looked up at him and the only thing Achilles could see in her eyes was love.
He saw that Bella loved him so much and it hurt him to know that there was a chance that they would not end up together.
In the most gentle way, he held Bella's side neck and leaned closer to her, aiming for lips. He wanted to kiss her and he knew there would be repercussions, but he cared less.
He was going to deal with them later on, after the kiss.
He stared down at her pink, plumb lips and anticipated how they would taste like. The last time he kissed her was about two months ago and he still vividly recalled how much he enjoyed the kiss.
He was about to join their lips together when a loud voice came through.
"Alpha Achilles, we are under a rogue attack!" His Beta, Tony's voice came through in his mind and he immediately let go of Bella and rose from the bed.
"What's wrong?" Bella asked, frightened.
"We are under a rogue attack. You stay here, I'll send Diana to…"
"I'm here!" Diana indicated as she rushed into the bedroom and over to Bella who was already stepping down from the bed.
"Is it that serious?"
"Soldiers from the Blackwood pack and rigues too." Diana explained breathlessly as she wrapped Bella's arms in hers. "You go join Tony and Alex, I'll keep Bella safe " She instructed Achilles nodded and rushed to the door, but when he got hot there, he stopped on his tracks and turned to look at the two girls once more. "Stay safe, both of you"
"We will!" Diana assured him and he rushed out of the bedroom.
Bella, who was panicking at that moment, turned to look at Diana with panic in her eyes.
"What's going to happen to us?" She asked frightened.
"Nothing honey, nothing at all. Come this way" She instructed as she led Bella out of the bedroom and into another bedroom still in Achilles' chambers.
When Achilles stepped out of the Castle gate in his wolf form, he was beyong relieved to see that his men were winning the fight. There were wolves all over the place, fighting and just by looking, he could tell which were his subjects and which were not.
As he galloped towards the scenario on his limbs, he noticed two rogue wolves following him and quickly stopped on his routes and turned to face them. The wolves were way smaller than him in terms of size and he calmly shook his head as he began walking towards them.
The first wolf flew in the air to fall on his mane, but he jumped as well and caught him mid-air and plastering him to the ground with his forelimbs, without wasting a single moment, he targeted the wolves neck and tore out it's jugular vein with his fangs. The wolf let out a loud howl as blood came oozing from the ruptured vein. He picked up the wolf with his mouth and threw him hard in the direction of the other work that was about to attack him and they both fell to the ground. One of Achilles' men finished off the fallen rogue.
In less than no time, the entire field was filled with dead wolf bodies and when the attackers found out that they were losing, they all retreated and ran away for their lives.
Achilles ordered some of his men to chase them away from the pack while he went into the castle to shapeshift into his human form once more.
Once he was done shapshifting and dressing up, he went outonce more and saw Alexander and Tony and Tony was holding something like a scroll in his hand and trying to read it.
"What's that?" He asked as he approached them. Tony quickly handed over the scroll to him and he rolled in down to read what had been written in it.
"Like, who sends a message in a scroll these days?" Alex asked in a bored tine and Achilles gave him a stern looked before riding on with reading.
As he read the scroll quietly, both Alex and Tony could see his face darken and they immediately understood that what was written in was a threat. A threat that was not to be taken lightly.
When Achilles finished reading the scroll, he threw it away and exhaled hard. It was a message from Alpha D'argan.
"Come on man, I would have loved to read it too"
"If you want to read it, then go get it yourself and read!" Achilles talked back bitterly.
"Alpha Achilles, what did the scroll read" Tony asked concerned.
"It's Alpha D'argan. He sent those rogues and some soldiers from the blackwood pack because neither he nor his soldiers can penetrate the boundary spell. He however said that he's working on a way to break the spell and once that happens, he coming to another massacre." He explained.
"But we all know that's not going to happen. He only succeeded the last time because we had no idea what he was planning. Now, we do and we will fight back"
"Of course we will. I'm personally going to chop off his head and hang on a spike if he ever shows up here, but for now, I need to check on the girls." He dissapeared into the castle and both Tony and Alex exchanged confused glances.
"Alpha D'argan stroke the wrong nerve" Alex said shaking his head.
"Indeed, he has" Tony confirmed with a nod. "I'm gonna go to the residential area and check on the subjects"
"Let's go together" Alex offered and
the two men walked out of the castle, towards the residential area as they kept talking about the recent event.
