"Crescent Moon Pack!" Bella called the name of the pack like she was cursing it. That was not what she expected to hear.
She was hoping they would find out that her family was somewhere in the pack, missing her and hoping that she would one day show up, but the complete opposite happened. It turned out that her mother was nothing but a dejected slave from the Crescent Moon Pack.
If her mother was a slave it means she probably had no family who cared enough for her over their either and that her father did not like her as well, else he would not have let her work as a slave in the castle when she was pregnant.
She had such high hopes about who her family would be and how they would welcome her and shower her with all the love she had ever wished for, but the complete opposite had happened and she was devastated.
She was born of a slave, to be a slave.
She had no family.
She was a stranger in the Wall Street pack.
The only thing she could do at the was bawl her eyes out despite the fact that the servants passing around looked at her like she had lost her mind. Everything was too much for her to take and she wished she wasn't born at all.
She could live with the fact she had worked as a slave all her life, but she could not live with the truth that her mother was a miserable slave who escaped from her p ackjujusto come and be a slave again in this pack. It was really painful and she felt sorry for her late mother and for herself too.
"Bella" She heard a gentle, masculine voice call from behind, but it wasn't Achilles' voice.
She turned to look and immediately began wiping her tears away when she saw Alex. She walked over to the built chair in the garden and sat on it and in less than no time, Alex joined her.
They both sat on the chair, staring blankly and the blooming flowers before them and saying nothing to each other.
After the meeting, Diana and Achilles left to take care of some pack business and he took that opportunity to come and talk with her because he knew the moment Achilles returned from wherever it is he went, he would get all possessive and no one will be able to spend time with Bella except him.
"After the meeting was over, I looked for you in your bedroom and in Achilles' library, but you were nowhere to be found, so I figured you'd be out here. I hope you don't mind that I'm here" Alex finally broke the silence.
Bella sniffled tears as she looked up at him.
"No, I don't. I'm glad you are here." She told him and he let out a silent breath of relief.
"Thank goodness"
"I want to rant about a few irrelevant things to you,can I?"
"Of course, go ahead. Although I hardly think they are irrelevant" He said with a smile which Bella returned.
"I started serving Louisa when I was five years old…" She began to explain. "At that time, her father wanted to hire a little girl to grow up as her servant, but her mother objected because she knew they would be punished if news like that reached the Alpha, so she decided to make me Louisa's servant since my mother was already their slave. My mother didn't like the idea, but there was nothing she could do. You know, at that time, Mr Donovan had made my mother understand that your father, who was Alpha at that time had no idea we were living in his household. He would always tell my mum that if she did anything bad, he would expose her to the Alpha and she would be taken back to her pack. My mother did not want that, so she obeyed their every command" She explained and Alex looked at her completely enraged by all what she had just said.
Mr. Donovan had lied to and blackmailed her mother all those times.
"Mr. Donovan is a very bad man. My father would never have punished your mother. He would've welcome her to the pack and given her a better life! What nonsense!" Alex cursed in fury and Bella just smiled as she stayed still.
"I grew with that thought in mind, that's why I always obeyed everything they said. My childhood was a nightmare, same as my teenage years. Louisa never missed the chance to lay her hand on me and so did her father. I worked day and night like the slave I was and had almost little or nothing to eat most days. Sometimes, before going to bed, I would beg the Moon goddess to kill me in my sleep, but she never did. Everyday, I still woke up strong and healthy to commence with my daily routine." She further narrated and Alex went speechless. He opened his mouth to talk, but words failed him.
He could not even put himself in her shoes because he had never been maltreated in his life before.
Bella indeed had a horrible time living with the Donovans.
"I mean, we did nothing wrong to them…" Bella continued and this time around, her voice was shaky. She was trying hard to be strong and not cry, but she was failing. She was very hurt and she needed to let it all out. "My mother and I did nothing wrong to deserve all that treatment. The Donovan's had no right to treat us like that" She bursts into tears.
Alex calmly took her into his big arms and began stroking her silky jet black hair.
"I know I cannot change the past, I cannot undo all the pain and damage they've caused you, but I can assure you one thing, they will be punished for everything they did to you and your mother. They will be punished severely. That, I swear" He promised her and she calmly nodded her head in his arms.
She honestly wanted both Louisa and her father to taste what it felt like to be maltreated like and considered an outcast.
