Grandma Diana's words calmed Diana's raging nerves and made her feel a lot more hopeful about her relationship with Tony. She never discussed it with anyone, because she was scared that the news would one day reach her brother's ears. She didn't even want to think of what Achilles would do to her Tony if he found out that they liked each other..
Yes, she was a big girl and she sometimes scolded her brother when he did something repulsive, but that did not change the fact that she feared him, most especially his temper. She knew he was very protective of her and would not hesitate to sabotage her relationship with Tony in the name of keeping her safe. That was the last thing she wanted.
However, after what grandma had just told her, she was more optimistic about the entire issue and she wanted to share it with her only friend in the entire world. She knew Bella was not a flippant girl and that she would keep her secret safe.
"Diana." Bella called with a wide smile as she opened her room door.
"Hello Bella, can I come in?" Diana greeted and asked politely.
"Of course you can. Come inside" Bella agreed cheerfully as she made way for Diana to step into the bedroom. When she was in, Bella closed the door behind her and joined her in the sitting area.
"It's a good thing you're using that smile as a facade to hide the pain in your eyes." Diana said and gestured Bella to sit down by tapping the empty spot by her side. "We'll both be telling each other our worries today, so sit down and go first" She urged and Bella smiled sadly as she sat beside Diana.
Once she was settled, she closed her eyes and took in a deep breath. She was actually inhaling Diana's perfume. It pleased her very much all of a sudden.
"You smell so nice, I feel like I want to chew you up. '' She finally confessed when Diana gave her a weird look.
"It's the pregnancy hormones. How are you two doing anyway?" Diana asked looked down at Bella's tummy.
"We are both okay. Apart from the fact that Achilles won't let me do anything for myself, I think we are good"
"You do know that he is only looking out for you, right?" Diana asked and Bella eagerly nodded her head.
"Good." She confirmed as she turned to face Bella on the couch and wrapped her legs beneath her butt as she took a yoga posture. "Tell me all about it." She suddenly demanded and Bella looked at her, confused.
"All about what?"
"Come on Bella. I see dried tears lines on your cheeks which means you have been crying. I know the fact that Alpha D'argan is your father devastates you, that's why I'm here to talk about it."
"Even if we talk about it, it won't change the fact that that brute is my father. Just the thought I'd it makes me want to seize to exist. I feel so guilty living here with you all." She lamented as he head dropped down, but Diana quickly raised it up with her index finger and looked at her straight in the eye.
"I want you to listen to me and listen carefully. What did I just say?" She asked.
"To listen to you and listen carefully " Bella repeated and pursed her lips together.
"Good. Yes, it's true that your parents are members of the Wall street pack. It's true that you are the daughter of the tyrant who brought about our downfall, but all of that means nothing, do you know why?" She asked and Bella calmly shook her head. "Because you are not a member of that pack. You have nothing to do with that pack or their Alpha. Your mother did not want you to have anything to do with them, that's why she escaped. The moon goddess bless her sweet soul. She made sure you had no ties with that pack. Bella, you were born in the Wall Street Pack, you were raised here and here you are, pregnant with the future heir of the pack. That is enough for you to know that you belong here, not there. You are a child of the Wall Street Pack and no one can ever change that. I mean no one. You have just as many rights as I do in this pack, because we are both its children. Never forget that, okay?" She cajoled and Bella nodded her head as a huge tear rolled down her left cheek.
She had spent the last few days sulking and thinking that people around would start growing resentment towards her because of her relationship with Alpha D'argan, but after hearing all that Diana had just said, she was convinced that everything was just as it used to be.
"Thank you very much, Diana. I really appreciate you telling me all this"
"Nah, it's nothing. Look, forget about that mad man and his threats, he's never going to lay his eyes on you. My brothers and I will make sure of that. I promise!"
"I trust you all to do just that" She said, chuckling because she knew that was not an empty promise.
Diana and her brothers deserved the trophy for the world's best protectors.
"Enough about me Diana. Let's talk about you, what is that you want to rant about?" Bella asked and Diana's shoulders sagged. She leaned her head against the couch and sighed heavily. She used her fingers to push the chunk of hair covering her face behind her ears and gave Bella a sideways look.
She was skeptical about telling her about Tony. If that story slipped and got into Achilles' ears, there would be a big problem.
"Bella" She called in a frustrated tone as she sat upright. "This is something I haven't told anyone before because it's going to cause a lot of unpleasant drama if it reaches Achilles' ears. Right now I'm very skeptical to tell you. I mean, you are his girlfriend, you might tell him and I don't want that, but I feel like I will explode if I don't let it out" She cried and Bella could see the frustration in her eyes. She quietly took Diana's hands in hers and kissed them.
"The only thing I can give you as assurance right now is my word. I will not tell Achilles, I promise" She asserted with all seriousness.
Diana looked at her for a long moment and finally decided to spill the beans.
"It's about Tony and I."
"What about you and To…" Bella started to ask but stopped when it came clear to her. She quickly pressed her plans over her mouth to suppress the scream that was about to escape her throat.
"Yeah" Diana agreed with a nod.
Bella was still in shock because all that time she had been in that castle, she had never suspected a thing between Diana and Tony.
"Wow!" She finally exclaimed. "Wow! And to think I have never suspected a thing between the two of you. Just…wow!" She exclaimed once more, just this time around, it was not in shock, but in admiration. Now that she thought of it, they were a perfect pair!
"We aren't actually together, it's kind of a "wait-for-the-right-time" situation. It's been four years now, but we are both still scared of Achilles to let him know how we feel about each other. I mean… Tony is Achilles' Beta and the only friend he has, I don't know how he's going to take it. I'm so scared!" She agitated on her spot and Bella just looked at her blankly.
She could understand where she was coming from.
Achilles was a complicated man and one could never predict his next move. He was very protective of the women in his life and he could get very wounded when it came to matters that concerned them.
"But… Tony said he would tell him everything once this whole charade is over. I'm excited, yet nervous"
"Diana. It's okay for you to feel that way. I mean, I know how protective your brother can be, but the truth is that he's not going to be able to keep you under his wings for ever. He knows that, he's just having a hard time accepting it. And for Tony, he's a great guy and I can bet my life that Achilles will never say no to your relationship with him. Just stay low-key as you are doing and when the time comes, the men will sort things out. They are both Alpha and Beta. No two people understand eachother in this pack as much as they do themselves. Everything is going to be al…" Before she could finish her sentence, Diana crashed into her arms and sobbed hard. Bella, who had never been faced with a situation where she had to console someone stiffened with her eyes roaming around the bedroom. She had no idea what to do to make Diana feel better.
"Just return the hug, that will make me feel better" Diana told her after reading her mind.
Bella smiled softly as she wrapped her arms around Diana and began rubbing her back.
