Bella woke up with a fever that morning and the entire castle was in chaos. Achilles was almost losing his mind as he instructed chefs to prepare the best meals on their menus.
The pack Doctor had been sent for just a few minutes ago, but to Achilles, it felt like it had been years and the doctor was delaying. Diana was with Bella in the bedroom, while he waited impatiently for the doctor to arrive.
He had no idea why she had suddenly gotten sick. The previous night, they discussed on many random issues and fell asleep in each other's arms. She showed no sign of ill health, but that morning, she was burning up.
"Alpha Achilles" The doctor called from the door and Achilles let out a heavy sigh of relief as he walked towards him and pointed up the staircase.
"Please go upstairs and tell me what's wrong with her before I lose my sanity" He instructed. The doctor nodded his head and proceeded to ascend the staircase at the speed of light with Achilles tailing him.
"The East Wing" He instructed when he saw the doctor about to take the West Wing where Bella's own bedroom was located. She had officially moved in with him in his bedroom.
"Achilles!" Alex called from the staircase and Achilles stopped to talk with him while the doctor walked on.
"What do you want Alex?"
"What is wrong with Bella?" Alex asked concerned.
"She woke up with a fever. Doctor Karl is going in to have her checked up to see what's wrong" Achilles explained as walked on. Both brothers walked side by side at the speed of light to the room door where they met Diana walking out as the doctor went in.
"I'll take it from here." Achilles told Alex who wanted to follow him into the bedroom.
"I want to be there for her too, let me come in" He insisted.
"And I say you won't! I will keep you guys updated on her health. For now, I need to go" He said and slammed the door hard in Alex's face.
Alex gritted his teeth in anger as he took a step backwards. He looked at the door long and hard, wishing with all his heart that he could break it down with just his stare and walk into that bedroom. Achilles was doing all he could to push him away from Bella and he did not like it.
He wanted to go into that bedroom and be there for her. He wanted to be the first to know what's going on with her. He wanted to be the one to comfort her, but Achilles had robbed him of that opportunity, just like he always did.
Achilles always stole his spotlight.
"Alex…" Diana called as she tried to hold his arm but he angrily jerked it away.
"Leave me alone" He warned in an angry tone, but Diana was not frightened. She let out a sigh and took another bold step close to him, but he got away from her closeness and leaned his back against the wall.
Diana watched in pain as he began hitting his head on the hard wall and muttering incoherent words to himself.
"Alex, you look pathetic right now. You need to stop all this madness!" Diana cautioned and that got him enraged. He stopped what he was doing and looked down at her with anger blazing in his eyes.
"Pathetic? I look pathetic right now. So me caring for Bella is pathetic?" He asked and Diana quickly shook her head in denial.
"I didn't mean it that way. I'm just trying to say that you don't need to put yourself through all this stress. It's eating you up!" She lamented and Alex shook his head and looked away.
"Diana, you are wrong if you think this is what I want for myself. I have tried alright? I have tried to forget about her. I have tried to stop loving her, but everytime I do that, I feel like I'm killing myself. I feel like I'm truly going to die if I don't have her"
"Can you even hear yourself talk? All what you just said right now doesn't even make any sense. Alex…" She called and walked over to him. "Please brother, let this issue go. Achilles and Bella are in love with each other. They want to be together. Back out from this fruitless mission of yours and let them enjoy their love in peace. Please" She begged and held his big hands in hers, but he immediately withdrew and shook his head.
"Never!" He flatly denied it. "He didn't like her in the first place. He hated her and did not want to be with her. He can't just come back and act like he didn't do horrible things to her. I will not accept that!"
"For the millionth time Alex, Achilles never hated Bella. Come on, brother. Why is it so hard for you to understand that fact? Forget about Bella. Once all of this is over and the curse is broken, you will find your mate. Leave them be"
"Talking about the curse to be broken, what if that happens and it turns out that Bella is not Achilles' mate. What then will happen to them?" He asked out of nowhere and the question made Diana pause on the spot.
She had never thought of that possibility.
What if indeed the curse gets broken and it happens that Bella and Achilles are not mates?
"Cat's got your tongue?" Alex asked in mockery and Diana violently shook her head.
"The Moon goddess will never do a thing like that. If she let Achilles and Bella mate, it means they are destined for each other. That is a fact you will never be able to change, so I advise you to leave them the hell alone!" She scolded at the top of her voice, caring less about the fact that she could be heard by other people.
Alex's persistence was beginning to very much irritate her. That was the first time she saw him behave so stubbornly and immaturely. On a normal basis, he would quickly let go of what he and Achilles were fighting over for peace to reign, but at that moment, he was acting the direct opposite and it frustrated her.
From the way the two brothers argue everyday, she could tell that they were both losing patience with each other and she was very scared of what they would do to each other once they got fed up.
The last thing she wanted was for them to kill each other.
"Alex…" She called yet again, but this time around, Alex did not stay and listen to what she had to say, he majestically walked over to the staircase, leaving her in tears.
Everything was falling apart!
