After the conversation Mr. Donovan had with his daughter, he began thinking critically and strategizing on how to go about doing things. They were about to do was considered treason, a crime punishable by death by hanging. It was such a risky thing to do, so had been monitoring the subjects in the pack, especially the people who had easy access to the castle. He began monitoring them to see who he could actually convince to b'get on his side.
He needed someone with relations in the castle so it would be easy to get Alpha D'argan into the heavily guarded castle once he was ready to attack.
At first, he thought of talking with the Beta, Tony, but he knew that would be the worst thing to do. Tony was not just Achilles' Beta, the boys had grown up together in the castle abd were the best of friends. One could never betray the other. He cancelled Toby from his mind and monitored the Gamma of the pack instead.
His name was Carter and he was a guy who never spoke to anyone. Mr. Donovan had no idea the kind of person he was, but he decided to try his lunch with him.
Carter was the Gamma and he had access to the castle. If he could manage to get him on his side, then it'll be easy to execute his plans.
"My husband said to show you to his study. Please come with me." The young girl standing before him announced abd he quickly rose from his seat and followed her up the stairs.
As they walked, he admitted the beautiful house and a wave of anger hit him when he remembered how Alpha Achilles had seated his house and made him stay in a much smaller house.
His hatred for Achilles grew as the days went by a d he could not wait for the day Alpha D'argan will kill him. When they got upstairs, they stopped infront if a door which the young girl opened abd urged him to get it.
"You can go in, he's waiting for you." She announced.
"Thank you very much." He thanked her with a nod and she just smiled as she walked away. He peep in through the slightly opened door abd his heart missed a beat when he spotted the Gamma seated before him table q d typing away on his laptop.
"I don't have all to attend to you,Mr. Donovan." Carter deciphered, causing the old man to hastliy step into the office. As he held the door knob to close the door, he noticed his hands were shaking abd his heart was threatening to hop out of his chest.
What he was about to was either going to get him an ally or send him to his grave. He was so frightened that he just wanted to turn around and leave without saying a word, but he chose not to.
He bexhzled heavily as he closed the door behind him abd when he turned around, he was startled to see Catheter looking right at him, with a blank expression.
"What can I do for you?" Carter asked between his teeth abd Mr. Donovan walked over to the table, trying to looking as bold and confident as he could.
"Gamma Carter…"
"Carter will do." Carter rudely interrupted. Mr. Donovan bit his lips and rubbed his sweaty palms on his side of his shirts before looking up at him again.
He felt like he would die of nervousness.
"Carter, there's something I would like to discuss with you." He blurted out abd a heavy sigh followed.
Carter, who sensed his seriousness that was mixed with fear abd nervousness, put closed his laptop and took off his glasses so he could focus on the man standing before him.
He I terxinded his fingers on the table a d looked up at Mr. Donovan.
"You can have a seat." He offered and Mr. Donovan hesitated.
He looked from the chair to the door abd back to the chair.
Once he was dobe with what he was about to say, he wanted to be in a position where h'it would be easy for him to run away if Carter got upset instead. If he sat on the chair, it would take him some time to wake up from the chair abd run a d Carter would have caught him by them, but if was standing, it would be easy for him to take on his heels, so standing was the better option.
However,he pulled the chair abd sat down.
He was still going to die wether he succeed in running or not.
"So, what is it that you will like to discuss with me?"
"Well…" He rubbed his sweaty palms together. "It's about this redemption."
"What about it?"
"Well… I was wondering, do you think we deserve it?" He asked quietly and Carter creased his brows at him.
He(Carter) leaned backwards on his chare abd gave him a queer look.
"Fifteen years ago, we were ripped of everything we had. Lost our loved once, including our Alpha and Luna, got cursed and left miserable. Right now, the moon goddess has decided to redeem us, don't you want that?" He reflected the question back to Mr. Donovan and he cleared his throat and shifted nervously on his seat.
Maybe coming there was a bad idea, he thought.
"Well… I… I want it. But do you think we have a chance against…"
"Mr. Donovan, now is the moment I ask you go staright to the point. Like I said, I don't have all day to attend to you."
"I would like you to join me in beatrying the Alpha to Alpha D'argan." Mr. Donovan blurted out as he looked at Carter with fear in his eyes.
The moment his words reached Carter's ears, he sat uprught on the cashier and gave the old man a critical look.
"I know I'm going to get killed after saying this, but I don't care. It'll be better that staying under the leadership of that spoiled brat call Alpha Achilles. I'd rather betray him and get killed that stay under his reign!" He added and Carter juts kept looking at him in silence.
Seconds turned into minutes and they entire office was dead silent. Mr. Donovan was hardly breath properly as Careter kept boring holes in his forehead with his percing gaze.
After a long moment of silence, Carter cleared his throat an dlooked away from him.
"And I thought I was the only one who figured that Achilles was a spoked brat!" He mumbled under his breath as he scoffed.
He looked at Mr. Donovan and with a tiny smile on his lips.
"How did you meet with Alpha D'argan?" He asked audibly and Mr. Donovan got confused.
"Huh?...uh… ummm…" he stuttered nervously. "My daughter did."
"I see…" he said shaking his head.
"Yeah."
"So… how may I be of help to you in this quest if yours?" He asked quietly and Mr.Donovan picked his head forward with his eyes wide open, unsure of what to make out of that question.
"Does that mean you want to work with me?"
"Mr. Donovan, if I was applied by your request, you would be dead by now. My stillness about the issue should make you understand that I am ready to work with you. Must I spell everything out?"
"No…no…" he denied, trying hard to hide his smile. "Please pardon my foolishness."
"Back to my question."
"Well… all Alpha D'argan will need is easy access to the castle, if you can give him that, then I guess he will take it from there."
"Done! Is that all?"
"Yes, Gamma… I mean, Carter."
"Then leave." He ordered and Mr. Donovan immediately rose from the chair and scampered out of the office mile a scared rodent.
What terrufeid him the more was how easy it was to get the Gamma ok his side.
"That was fast." He whispered to himself as he descended the stairs. "I guess I'm not the only who hates Achilles in this pack."
And he was right. He was not the only one in the pack who hated Achilles.
