"ALEX!" Daniel screamed again as she fell knelt before Alex's still body on the ground. He wasn't breathing and his body seemed to be turning white. "Alex" she whimpered as tears violently spilled down her cheeks. She shook his body hard, hoping that he would wake up and talk to her. "Alex please wake up, please talk to me." She cried and buried her face in his neck when she realized that he was dead for real.
Achilles who was still watching in horror, came to meet her and stooped down beside Alex's body.
"Brother." He called softly. "That's… that's enough now, you can wake up." He held Alex's hand up and let it go. The hand weakly slumped to the floor and when he repeated the same act two times, that's when it occurred to him that Alex was dead. "No!" He cried as he dropped his butt on the floor and the tears in his eyes broke loose. "Alex, No." He cried hard.
"Please don't tell me he's dead." Bella asked from the bed, she was already crying with the baby still in her arms, wrapped up in a sheet.
"He's dead." Achilles responded, violently sobbing and stroking his brother's hair. Bella's hand flied to her mouth as she struggled to suppress the scream that was about to escape from it. She looked at Alex's pale face and her soul left her body. He was indeed dead.
They had lost Alex!
"No!" She whimpered in tears as she struggled to seat up, but she could because she was still in pain.
"I… I.." Diana stuttered as she took off a pendant from her neck and rose on her feet. "We can't lose him like this." She said looking around as if trying to figure out something. She muttered a few incoherent words and both Bella and Achilles watched in horror as she dropped on the floor, unconscious.
"Diana!" Bella screamed in fear.
"She will be fine. She knows what she's doing." Achilles assured Belle who kept looking from Alex's body to Diana's, still not understanding what was going on.
A long moment of silence fled by and suddenly, Diana woke up from her slumber. The pendant in her hand was glowing and she rose on her feet, smiling in tears as she held the pendant in her palms and pressed it against her chest.
"I got it."
"Got what?" Bella asked, confused .
"His soul. I didn't want it to cross over so I got it from the death keeper. There's a chance we can bring him back to life sometime in the future, all we need to do is keep his body safe." She explained and Bella calmly nodded her head even though she was completely lost.
"We need to get out of here." Diana told them. "The guards of this pack have no idea we are in here, if we walk out through the door, they'll attack us and that will not be good. Also, we have to take Alex's body with us, I need to perform a spell that's going to help us dissapear, a very powerful spell." She further explained and both Bella and Achilles looked at eachother, confused.
"I will help you." Their grandmother's voice sounded in the room , terrifying the doctors and even Bella.
In less than no time, the spell was created and they all appeared in Achilles' living room in his Chambers. Diana immediately ordered for guards to take Alex's body to her private room, while Achilles called the pack doctor to check on Bella.
The pack was still in total commotion as they waited for Achilles to announce what had gone wrong.
*********************************************
"Are you done?" Achilles asked from the door and when Diana nodded her head, he calmly sauntered into the room with his eyes not leaving Alex's body. Diana was still sobbing over their brother's body that she had dressed up fully and put in a casket.
"I can't believe this is happening." She said, almost breathlessly. Achilles knelt down by the casket and stared at his brother for a long moment as tears came spilling down his cheeks. His lungs felt like they had twisted and he could not breath properly. He clutched his chest with his left hand and bowed down his head in pain. A loud sob escaped his lips as he squeezed his eyes to let the tears in them flow down freely.
He was sad.
He was mad at the fact that his brother was dead.
"He didn't deserve to die like this! He was a good man."
"I know right." Replied Diana as she struggled to wipe her tears away. "None of this would've happened if we weren't betrayed." She added and Achilles abruptly lifted up his head to look at her.
"What are you talking about?" He asked, shocked.
"Carter. He betrayed us."
"Carter the Gamma? My gamma?"
"Yes. When I got busted by the wizard and another member of the Crescent Moon Pack, I saw him with them, in his wolf form." She explained and that's when Achilles recalled something.
"That son of a bitch!" He cursed in anger. "We were outnumbered so I had to stay and fight with the soldiers. I sent him to take charge of guarding the castle because he's the gamma and he is strong, but he led the enemy in and now, we've lost Alex. Sweet Moon Goddess I'm going to kill him! I swear I will." He jumped up on his feet to exit the bedroom but Diana's call made him freeze on his tracks.
"What?" He answered as he turned to face her.
Diana looked up at her brother and the anger burning in his eyes scared her. She knew how irrational he could be when he was angry, and she did not want him to make any rash decisions. She felt the same anger he was feeling and she wanted Carter dead too, but that couldn't happen.
Carter held a high rank in the pack and if any punishment had to be given to him, it had to in public.
"I know you are angry, but you cannot afford to make any rash decisions. Carter is a high ranking official and you can't just punish him, the subjects will rebel. You have to gather the people together and report his treason. Only then will you be able to punish him." She explained, hoping that he would hear her out.
Achilles walked back into the room, over to the casket Alex was lying and knelt before it once more.
He looked down at his brother's face and smiled painfully. They looked so alike that it felt like he was looking at himself in the casket.
"I'm going to avenge your dead Alex and I promise you that we will meet again. I promise you, brother, this is not the end for you." He leaned forward and placed a calm kiss on Alex's forehead before walking out of the bedroom once and for all.
As he walked down the hallway that led to the staircase, he could feel Tony's mindlink pushing through in his mind, he was trying to report something to him.
"Yes Tony." He called out.
"I heard what happened. I don't know if I should be happy or sad." He explained and Achilles could feel the distress in his voice. He knew that if Tony had gone with them, Alex would still be alive.
"It is what it is Tony. Anything up?"
"Yeah, a whole lot, but there is no time to explain in detail."
"Give me just the headlines then." He said running down the staircase.
"Well, it seems some of your subjects are not happy with your reign as their Alpha."
"What do you mean by that?" Achilles asked as he paused on his tracks to understand what was going on.
"Carter, the gamma and nearly half of the subjects orchestrated all what happened behind our backs. This was a planned attack and…"
"Organize a pack meeting in the meeting hall immediately!" He ordered through the mindlink and Tony could feel the anger burning in his heart from his words.
"I will do just that." Achilles immediately blocked the mindlink and let out a heavy, angry sigh.
He had busted his mind every day to think of strategies to protect his subjects. Diana did not sleep every night because she was creating new spells to use to strengthen the boundary spell when it was still up. Alex and Tony were on patrol every night to make sure rogues didn't invade the pack and cause trouble for the subjects.
They had done all they could to protect the subjects of the wall street pack, but it seemed the people still did not trust their leadership.
"This is just the height of it!" He whispered to himself as he walked on.
The subjects of the wall street pack had no idea what was coming their way.
