Achilles felt guilty for wanting to leave his people and sister behind, but he didn't plan to change his mind. He was terribly mad at his subjects for choosing to betray him and he knew no amount of punishment would hurt them, so he decided to leave them.
He loved his people, but he could not let go of such betrayal without teaching them a lesson.
He walked into his bedroom and his heart made a joyful leap when he saw Bella sitting on his bed with their baby in her arms and his cot by the side of the bed. They decided to transfer the baby's cot in their bedroom because none of them could bear to have him sleeping in another bedroom.
He was their bundle of joy and they loved him to bits. He did not want his son to grow in the land where he would not be loved and respected by the same people who were obligated to love and respect him. That was the main reason why he wanted to take his family and go away.
They were the main reason why he wanted to leave.
"Hey baby." He greeted as he leaned close to Bella and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, before placing and even more gentle tiny kiss on the baby's forehead. "How are you two doing?"
"Perfect." Replied Bella, with a sweet smile.
Achilles took from the sitting area and brought close to her to sit by her side. She had no idea about his plans and he was nervous to tell her. He knew she would not like the idea of them leaving the pack and the werewolf world as a whole, but they had to leave.
"Baby." He called as calmly as he could when he was finally seated before her. "There is something you need to know.
"What's that?" Bella asked curiously as she calmly rocked the sleeping baby in her arms.
"Things got so back yesterday because we were betrayed by Carter and other pack members." He explained and Bella got confused. She creased her brows and gave him a confused look because she did not understand what she was talking about.
"I… I don't understand."
"What I'm trying to say is that Carter and some members of the pack worked hand in hand with Alpha D'argan and orchestrated this attack. Carter especially was the reason why the wizard had access to the castle, he is the reason why you had such a difficult childbirth and also the reason why Alex is dead. He planned this all." He explained and Bella was not only confused at that moment, but she was terrified as well.
She didn't know Carter personally, but she never expected him or anyone from the pack to side with the enemy.
"What the hell!" She exclaimed in Total dismay. "Terrible. Why would anyone do that? Why would anyone betray you? You've worked so hard to redeem us all,why would your people choose to do a thing like that to you?" She cried and Achilles just shook his head in disappointment.
He had asked himself the same question over a million times, but no valid reason Came to his mind.
He had led his people the best way he could. He spent his childhood and teenage years cracking his brain together with Tony to bring up strategies on how to make them successful. He had picked up the Pack from it's crumbled state and brought it back to life. He made sure everyone in the pack was comfortable, but that was still not enough to gain their loyalty and that broke his heart.
"That's the same question I've been asking myself ever since I was told, but I haven't gotten any valid answers. That is why I have decided that we will be leaving pack for good."
"Huh?" Bella asked, confused yet again. "Leaving the pack for good? What do you mean by that?"
"These people don't love me despite the fact that I've done a lot of good to them. I don't want our son to grow up in this kind of environment. I don't want him to grow up and become Alpha to people who will turn their backs on him when he needs them the most, that's why I've decided to take you both far away from here so he won't have to grow up and experience any of the bad things I've been through."
"But Achilles, if we leave this pack,we will automatically become rogues and we will be hunted!" Bella cried as she held the baby closer to her body. "That's not the kind of life I want for our son."
"We are not going to live in the werewolf world my love, we are going to the human world to leave as humans."
"What! That's dangerous!*
"No it's not. Humans don't hunt strangers in their countries, even though they have laws against illegal immigrants, but we have a witch who's going to fix that. She will give us IDs and everything we will need to live there as normal people."
"But Achilles, you are the Alpha of the pack, you can't just leave the people." Bella lamented.
"This is the punishment they get for betraying an Alpha who fought for their redemption but received nothing but betrayal from them. Tony will be in charge of ruling them as their Beta, but they will be Alphaless." He spoke and Bella could feel that he meant every word that came out from his mouth. She let out a heavy sigh and looked straight into his eyes.
"Are you sure this is what is good for us?" She asked quietly and Achilles nodded his head as he placed his hand on hers.
"I will never think of doing something that will bring any harm to any of you. I can assure you that this is what is best for us. I promise this is what is best for us."
"I'm scared. Neither of us have ever been to the werewolf world, how are we going to survive there?"
"I don't know about you and our son, but… I've been there, a few times." He confessed as pouted his lips and Bella laughed as she looked at him in total disbelief.
"No you haven't!"
"Yes I have! A few times with Alex. I was curious to know what the place looked like, so… I followed him a few times, but returned before anyone could notice my absence."
"You are the most recalcitrant person I know, Achilles. So… when do we leave?"
"By midnight."
"Midnight?" She yelled at the top of her voice, causing the baby to stir in his sleep. They both sat still for a long moment, not saying a word to each other as they waited for the baby to go back to sleep. When that happened, Bella gave Achilles a fierce look.
"What do you mean by midnight?" She whispered harshly.
"Bella, the last thing I want is to spend another night in this Pack with all those traitors. I feel like they'll kill us all in or sleep if we spend one more night, that's why I want us to leave today."
"Isn't it a bit too sudden? I haven't even packed anything for myself or the baby and you know we will be needing a lot."
"Don't worry about all that. It is being taken care of." He assured her and she closed her eyes and exhaled heavily.
She could feel her heart beating at an increasingly fast pace.
She had never been out of the pack, now she was about to leave not just the pack, but the entire werewolf world. She was extremely nervous.
"Hey…" Achilles called as he gently caressed her arm. "I know you are nervous about this, but I can assure you that this is what's best for all of right now."
"Achilles, by midnight, we will be able to detect our mates. What if we aren't mates?"
"Then I will take you far away from here and never return. I don't care how the moon goddess will react. You are the only one I want to be with, Bella and no one is going to stop me. I promise."
"That's…"
"Stop thinking negatively. I'm sure we are mates. I can feel it." He assured her and she just quietly nodded her head, hoping that his hunch was right.
She loved Achilles with all her heart and she doubted if she could live with any other person even if he was her mate. She sincerely hoped that it would turn out that they were mates.
"What about his name?" Bella asked and Achilles just smiled as he gently took the baby from her arms and placed him in his crib to sleep. He then took off his shoes and got on the bed where he scooped her into his arms and kissed her hair.
"Diana has been brainstorming all day. She will do the big reveal when she goes to see us off at the boundary."
"I can't wait to hear what she will name him."
"She's going to do a great job. She always does." She said confidently and silence crept into the entire room and they both street blankly at the ceiling above with a million thoughts running on their minds.
Things had gone the direct opposite of how they were supposed to go, but they weren't that bad. At least they were still together.
That was one thing that mattered.
"Diana must be heartbroken. She just lost Alex and now you are about to leave as well. Don't you think that's a bit too much for her to handle?" Bella asked, concerned.
"It hurts me to leave her behind. I would have loved to bring her along, but I know Diana, she will never leave this pack no matter what. She's going to be alright, she has Tony with her. They have each other. I only hope come midnight, it happens that they are mates. That is my ultimate wish right now."
