CHAPTER NINETY-THREE.

"Mummy, my head hurts." Little Bella cried as her mother damped her forehead with a wet face towel.

Diana, who was trying very hard to keep her tears from spilling down leaned closer and planted a soft kiss on her forehead. little Bella's health was deteriorating as the days went by and she was very scared of what could happen to her at any time.

"I'm sorry baby. I'm so sorry about that."

"Mummy, am I going to die like the other children?" Bella asked in pain.

"No baby, of course not! You are not going to die!" Diana cried as she kissed Bella's forehead yet again.

"But I feel like I will. The medicines aren't working mum and my head hurts really bad. I can take it anymore" the child cried and her tears triggered Diana's tears to come spilling down as well. She turned her face away and sobbed hard.

  She was almost losing it.

Just then, the room door creaked open and immediately she saw Tony standing by the door, she rushed to him and crashed into his arms as a violent sob escaped her lips.

"She's in pain Tony. She asked if she was going to die." She whispered in tears.

Tony heaved out a heavy sigh as he gently stroked her hair.

"She's not going to die." He assured her, but she quietly shook her head in denial.

"Take a look at her." She said pointing to Bella who was then asleep. "She's dying! I went over to beg Achilles to come help us, but he refused!" She lamented.

"What would you have him do? Come back here and help the same people who betrayed him in the first place?"

"What about us? We are his family, we didn't betray him."

"Don't make Achilles look like a bad person Diana, because we both know he isn't. To be honest, if I were in his shoes, I wouldn't come back either."

"So we are all just going to perish?" She asked annoyed and Tony innocently shrugged his shoulders.

"Tony I know you are his Beta and that you have to take his side always, but not when it concerns matters like this. Achilles is being a selfish spoiled brat by refusing to come and help us and here you are, defending him even when your daughter is dying. This is absurd!" She lamented as she withdrew herself from his hold and went to sit by her daughter's side.

"Don't be mad. I'm just trying to be reasonable. We shouldn't call someone selfish because we are the ones in the tight spot. If they come to help us, good and fine, if they don't, it's still okay. They owe us nothing."

"But they are Alpha and Luna, we need them." Diana cried.

"Baby…" He called and was about to sit by her side when a mind link pushed through and it seemed to be from the Gamma, Carter.

Yes, the same Gamma who betrayed them during the great battle.

When Achilles left, Tony was left in charge. He had two options, to either banish Carter or have him publicly executed by hanging, but he chose not to do either. Instead, he invited Tony into his office and had a heart to heart talk with him which caused him to cry like a baby and apologize. Since then, Carter had been a devoted Gamma.

  "Yes Carter, I'm listening."

"Some pack members are gathered in the meeting hall. Two more children died. They want you to address the situation."

"I will be right there." He responded and blocked the mindlink.

"Rogue attack?" Diana asked curiously and Tony shook his head.

"No. Two children just died. A few pack members are gathered at the meeting hall, requesting that I address the situation. I have to go…"

"I'm coming with you." Diana said as she rose to her feet and led the way.

"Why's that?" He asked once they got to the door. Diana turned to face him with an eternal frown masked on her face.

"T'was about time someone reminded them of their betrayal five years ago!" She spoke out bitterly and exited the room.

Once they got to the meeting hall, it was half full and the subjects were murmuring to one another. Carter immediately hushed the crowd and Diana took the podium.

"I was told you wanted to see me."

"Princess Diana. Two more children have died and we are scared that more may die because the rest of the kids are bed ridden. something has to be done else we are going to lose them all.`` One woman cried from the crowd and her words touched Diana deeply because she knew her daughter was in that lot as well, but she knew that wasn't the time for her to get emotional. She steadied her breath and looked down at the expectant crowd as she prepared herself to tell them all what she had in mind.

"Five years ago, we had a chance of redemption. All we needed to do was trust our Alpha and fight along with him, but some of you chose to betray him at the most crucial time of the battle and as a consequence, the redemption was not completed. Now, it's backfiring against us all. Some of us stayed loyal till the end, while some of us chose to betray the pack, but right now, we are all suffering together. I paid my brother a visit yesterday, I tried to talk him into coming to redeem us, but it seems his mind is made up, he's not coming to save us and we all are going to perish. Mark my words, he is not going to be punished, because you started this, so you have to face the consequences. If Alpha Achilles does not come back to save us, then I'm sorry to announce that we are all going to perish one by one and as we do that, let's have in mind that it's entirely our fault that our Alpha left us to perish, because we couldn't stand by him when he needed us the most. That is all I have to say. Have a nice day."

The entire hall went dead silent and the only sound that could be heard was that of her heels clicking on the ceramic tiles as she exited the hall.

Tony, who had nothing else to say, mindlinked a guilty Carter to disperse the crowd before following his wife outside.

  They were indeed doomed.
