Diana was seated beside her daughter's sick bed with tears streaming down her cheeks. One more child had died that morning and she couldn't help but wonder if her child would be next. She was so scared and confused at the same time.
When she went to talk to her brother about their current predicament, she knew it was going to be a futile mission, but she insisted on going. She was angry at Achilles for not even considering her before saying no, she wanted to hate him, but she couldn't bring herself to do that because he was her brother and she loved him too much to hate him.
He and Bella, together with the son looked very fine and that made her wonder if she had made a mistake by staying behind. On the night she found out she and Tony were mates, she was very happy and she had looked forward to ruling the pack with him, but at that point in her life, she doubted if every decision she had ever made was the right one.
The Wall street pack was even more miserable than it used to be before the redemption. There were more frequent rogue attacks. The Wall street pack was in ruins and only their Alpha and Luna could save them.
A soft sob escaped her lips when her brother's words of denial sounded in her mind. He had made up his mind never to return to that pack, so they were doomed.
"Diana." She heard a voice call from behind and when she turned to look, she burst into tears on seeing Tony.
"Tony" she called amidst tears as he walked up to her and hugged her tight.
"It's okay love, stop crying."
"I can't. Take a look at Bella, she's getting worse as the days go by." She urged Tony who disengaged himself from the hug and stooped down by their daughter's bedside.
He scanned her from head to toe and an exasperated sigh escaped his lips when he saw that Diana was right. She had gone paler because she hardly kept anything in and the dark circles under her eyes were getting worse.
Their Bella was a very lively kid, but ever since she got sick, she didn't even have the energy to lift even her single finger. Her current state depressed her parents and they wished they could do something to help her.
The last thing they wanted was to lose her like the other children in the pack.
"What are we going to do?" Tony asked, confused.
"I'm going to pay Achilles another visit."
"No… don't. You know that won't make him change his decision of not coming here."
"Tony Achilles has to understand that it's not always about his decision. This is the pack we are talking about here. We've lost children in this pack, both born and unborn. Those were his pups! He needs to change that decision of his and come back home. His people need him, his pups need him, his family needs him!" She cried bitterly and Tony felt very sorry for her.
She was right and he knew it. Achilles was in no place to be so selfish. Even if the pack had betrayed him before, he didn't have to let them all perish, especially the innocent people like them.
"Love." He called calmly as he rose on his feet and strode before Diana.
"I have to pay him another visit tonight, I swear I can't…" She stopped talking when she felt something strange.
"What's wrong?" Tony asked when he sensed her change of mood.
Diana, without answering the question, hastily walked out of little Bella's bedroom and headed out of her chambers, for Achilles'.
As she got closer to the chambers, Achilles' scent grew stronger and she got even more confused. She wondered why she could smell Achilles when he was not in the pack.
When she got to the door, she could hear voices from within and she recognized the voices to be that of Bella's and Achilles', but she could not believe her ears. Tony who had been following closely immediately opened the door and they were both shocked to see Achilles, Bella and little Alex in the living room with their luggages.
"Aunt Diana!" Little Alex called enthusiastically as he rushed over to Diana. Diana immediately stooped down and caught the running child in her arms, engulfing him in a very warm hug.
"Alpha, Luna!" Tony called formally with his head down.
"You still have the soul of an old man, my dear friend." Achilles mocked as he took long strides over to Tony and they both shared a manly hug. "It's been quite a while, hasn't it."
"You can say that again." Tony said, breaking the hug.
Achilles went over to his sister who was already in tears and hugged her tight.
"It's okay. I'm here now. We are going to find a way to sort things out together, there's no need to cry." He whispered in Diana's ears as he calmly stroked her back and that only caused her to cry even harder.
She tightened the hug, almost squeezing the life out of Achilles, but he didn't mind. He missed his sister just as much as she missed him and he was happy to be back home.
"Why is everyone crying?" Little Alex asked out of nowhere and all the adults burst into laughter as they struggled to wipe their tears away.
It was truly an emotional moment.
"I was going to pay you another visit today, I just couldn't let go, brother. I'm so happy you are here."
"I gave it a lot of thought and decided to come back home. It's my duty to lead you all out of this predicament and I do not intend to fail, no matter what happened in the past."
"Thank you for coming back, Alpha Achilles. Thank you very much." Tony thanked Achilles who inched closer to him and brought his lips closer to his ear.
"Address me as Alpha one more time and I'll punch you so hard that you won't feel your cheeks for an entire week. I don't care if your wife throws me against a wall. She has been doing that to me since we were kids so I'm used to it. Call me Achilles. It's an order from your Alpha." He warned and Tony quietly nodded his head with a tiny smile forming at the side of his lips.
"You are still a bully." He remarked with a smirk and Achilles gently patted his shoulder before stepping away.
Both Diana and Bella were still hugging each other and crying and the two men decided to leave them alone by exiting the living room and heading straight for Achilles' Office to discuss.
