For the first time since Bella and Achilles returned home, the family was gathered, together with Tony and Carter to discuss pack issues. Both guys and girls had done a lot of catching up and now it was time to get down to business.
"I don't even want to imagine how hard it was for you to get this pack to this level, Tony. I'm very proud of you." Achilles remarked and Tony just chuckled.
"I've been ruling with you all my life, I learnt alot and all I needed to do was apply the knowledge I had acquired."
"Was it hard getting the people to obey you?" Achilles inquired.
"Ummm… yeah. A bit. But soon they realized you were truly not coming back and got a bit hard on them so they made up their minds to be good. To be frank, it was tough in the beginning, but with time, things got better especially as I had Diana by my side." He explained with a bright smile plastered on his face. "She's one fierce Lioness." He complimented and Diana couldn't help but blush.
"Of course she is. And what about Louisa and her father, Mr. Donovan?" Achilles asked and at the mention of those two names, Bella's heart sank into her abdomen and a rush of adrenaline washed through her. She instantly shot Tony a hard glance as she waited impatiently for him to say what he did to them.
"Well, I let Louisa serve in the army for one year like you had ordered after which she returned to her fashion and design school. Right now she works in one of the designing firms and for her father, he still works as a laborer in one of the food processing factories. Like the rest of the laborers, his pay is good, but neither him nor his daughter enjoy the privileges they used to enjoy." He explained and Achilles just nodded his head. Bella, who was satisfied with what she had just heard, heaved a silent sigh and took her eyes off Tony.
"What about the agric business and health sectors?"
"Everything pretty much went on as they should. More doctors were trained to work in the hospitals, more recruiters in the agricultural companies and even the banks. The other packs don't really have troubles with us when it comes to business most especially as we bring the best goods to the market. We've been just as successful as they are and they love doing business with us."
"It seems you had your hands very full these past years."
"I… I didn't do all these alone. I had Carter and Diana by my side. They assisted me a great deal."
"I'm really happy to hear that you all worked hand in hand to get this pack to the level it is now. Thank you all very much." Achilles thanked them from the depth of his heart and Diana couldn't help but smile.
"We had no choice, brother. We are the born leaders of this pack and we have to do all we can to keep it alive. There's no turning back."
"Indeed, there isn't. I tried to do that, but here I am taking up my position and duty again. We are meant to do this until the Moon goddess says it's enough." Achilles affirmed.
"Yeah, that's true."
A knock on the door interrupted the conversation. Carter, who had been silent the entire time, immediately rose to his feet and went to open the door for whoever it was. When he did, he saw one of the castle guards and the terrified look on his face made Carter understand that something was wrong.
"What's wrong?" He asked directly and the guard swallowed hard. He was both intimidated by Carter's menacing glare and worried about the news he had to convey.
"A word came in for Alpha Achilles." The guard announced and Carter immediately gave way for him to walk into the office.
"Nigel." Tony called as he rose from his seat. "What brings you here?" He inquired as the guard stood nervously before them all. Carter soon joined them.
"Word came in from Alpha D'argan." He announced and at the mention of the name Alpha D'argan, everyone was alrmed.
"Alpha D'argan?" Bella was the first person ask and the guard nodded his head.
"But I thought the boundary spell was impenetrable by him or any member from the Crystal moon pack."
"A soldier from the Blue Moon Pack brought the news."
"And what did he say?" Achilles asked impatiently.
"He said to tell you that he knows of your return and would love for you to bring both his daughter and grandson to him." Nigel announced in fear and that got Achilles instantly enraged.
"Is the soldier still here?"
"Yes, Alpha."
"Tell him go tell that tyrant Alpha that neither my mate nor my son will be setting foot into his castle. Tell him that!" He scolded.
"Yes Alpha." The soldier agreed and rushed out of the office.
Achilles, whose mood was already ruined, began pacing around the office. He was extremely pissed by what he had just heard.
"That man has got some nerve!"
"How did he even get to know that in the first place?" Carter asked aloud.
"Rumor flies like wildfire, Carter. How he got to know is not what we should be worried about right now. We need to protect both Bella and Alex from any possible kidnap." Tony agitated.
"He's never going to lay his eyes on any of them. That's only going happen in his dreams. I swear."
"You guys ride on with the meeting, I'm going to go check on Alex." Bella said as she rose from her seat.
"I'm coming with you." Diana added and both girls exited the living room.
The three men just stood on their spots, staring at different parts of the office without uttering a word to each other.
They were all thinking of ways to make things go right in the castle and pack as whole.
