The entire family spent the day discussing pack issues and how to go about redeeming the pack for the second time. The fact that Alpha D'argan was aware of Achilles and Bella's return was frightening and they knew they all had to be on high alert
After dinner, everyone dispersed to their various chambers to rest.
When Diana got to her chambers, she went straight into her daughters room where she was lying on the bed, totally bedridden and hardly able to talk. Little Bell was so sick that everyone feared she would die sooner or later.
With a very heavy heart, Diana sat on the stool by her bedside and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. She had performed very healing spell and given her numerous herbs to drink, but none of that had worked. Little Bella's health kept deteriorating as the days went by and she knew in less than no time, they would lose her.
A fat tear rolled down her cheeks as she thought of that.
She already had a miscarriage and now she was about to lose another child. She was so devastated that she didn't even know how to express it.
"Baby." She heard a voice call from behind and when she turned do look, she was startled to see Tony standing at the center of the room with a sorrowful look on. She had been so lost in thought that she didn't even hear him come in.
"Tony." She called with a croaked voice as she tried to wipe off her tears, but more kept spilling down each time she did that.
Tony, who knew exactly why she was crying, heaved out a heavy sigh of exasperation as he approached her. Their daughter's condition devastated him and he wanted to cry as well, but he knew he had to be strong for Diana, so he tried his best to keep his tears at bay.
"You are crying again?" He asked calmly once he approached Diana and sat by her side.
"I can't help it Tony, she's getting worse as the days go by. Yesterday, she was able to call my name, but Today, she can't even utter a word and her eyes have been closed ever since I got here. I can feel it Tony, she's gradually leaving us." Diana cried. Tony looked at their daughter on the bed and rubbed his forehead with his fingers, his eyes closed.
No matter how much he wanted to deny it, he knew Diana was right. Their daughter was going to die any time soon. That was something he could never be ready for.
"You know, I want to deny what you just said and say everything is going to be alright, but I know that's not true. Everything is not alright. Bella is getting worse and I feel like… I feel like we are going to lose her as well." He concluded painfully and Diana let out a gentle sob as she calmly caressed little Bella's forehead.
"We don't deserve this Tony. We fought so hard for this redemption, why are we being punished for something we did not do." Diana cried in agony.
"I don't know either, but it would be wise for us not to question the Moon goddess. Her alone knows why she's letting all this happen and if she has managed to touch Achilles' heart, then I guess this is for the better. Our daughter is not dead yet, let's stay positive." He advised and Diana calmly nodded her head, even though his words weren't comforting her.
What she needed at that moment was a miracle. A miracle that would make their daughter and every other sick child in the pack get well instantly. If they lost all the children in the pack, then they were indeed back to square one.
"What about Grandma Diana? Have you tried summoning her?" Tony suddenly asked out of nowhere and Diana just shook her head.
"Five years ago, when all this ended, she left and no matter how many times I summoned her, she did not come, so I guess her work is done here. The curses she placed on us were broken and I'm sure she has gone to rest with her ancestors." Diana explained.
"I know about that, but a few curses have been brought upon us again because of the betrayal."
"That had got nothing to do with Grandma. This was a mess created by us and we are the ones to get ourselves out of it." She firlmly asserted and Tony stopped talking.
A long moment of silence spread across the room as they both went into deep thought.
Diana thought of how helpful their grandma had been to them during the previouse battle and she knew that if they were to go against Alpha D'argan once more without assistance from her, it would be a great challenge.
"Baby." She heard Tony call again and she snapped out of her thoughts to look at him.
"Yes love."
"I know this might not make any sense, but I just want you to try. We are about to go to war against our biggest enemy. The greatest tyrant in the werewolf world. The man who has succeeded in making our lives miserable for twenty years in a row. One thing for sure is that we cannot do this on our own, we need a superior. I know you said grandma has gone to rest with her ancestors, but that doesn't mean she can't come back for a while to help us. Please go to your private room and try to summon her…"
"Tony I…" she began to protest, but Tiny cut her off.
"Diana, please. I'm begging you. Do this for the sake of our daughter and every other sick child in this pack. Please, it won't hurt to try." He pleaded with the most sorrowful look on and Diana let out a deep sigh.
Tony never failed to cajole her into doing the things she did not want to do.
"Okay." She whispered as she looked at him with searching eyes. "Okay… fine. You win. I'm gonna go in there and try my best to summon grandma one again." She agreed and immediately, Tony pulled her into his arms, engulfing her in a bone crushing hug.
"Thank you." He whispered.
