CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-ONE

After almost six years, Bella decided to visit her past and in her past, I mean Donovan. She decided to visit the people who enslaved her for twenty years.she wanted to see them after all those years, not mock them about their present situation, but she wanted to find out why they treated her the way they did.

Years ago, when she still used to work as their slave, her bedroom room was in the basement of the house and it was nothing short of a cell. She had almost no light in the bedroom, not to talk of items. She barely had any clothes and the mattress she slept on was just about as old as her. It was a very tiny crappy mattress and there was no bed frame for her to put on it. She had to put the mattress on the floor despite how cold it was and she didn't even have a duvet. She only had a tiny sheet which was partly worn out which she used to cover up herself every night.

Her life was miserable and every day she went to bed, she prayed to the moon goddess to have mercy on her and give her a better life and that prayer of hers was answered.

"Luna Bella, are you sure you want to go in there alone?" The guards she came with asked concerned and nodded her head.

"Yes, I'm sure, just wait out here for me." She said and made her way to the door.

The Donovans no longer lived in the upscale residential quaters where pack leaders and high ranking military and business officials lived, but they lived in the areas where the rest of the subjects lived in an old bungalow which was nothing compared to the mansion they used to own.

When she got tothe door, they knocked three times and took a step backwards as she waited for someone to open up. As she waited, she could feel her heart beat increase at a rapid pace. She contemplated whether to stay there or turn around and leave, but she finally decided to settle on the former.

The Donovan's had offended in every way even when all she did was serve them diligently. They had been punished severely for maltreated, but she believed they owed her an apology and she was there to get that apology.

Soon, she heard the door being opened with a key from within and she tried to steady her breath as she waited for whoever it was to swing the door open. As the door opened up, her breath hitched when she saw Louisa, but she immediately snapped out of her trance and kept a straight face. She was not going to be intimidated by her anymore.

"Bella!" Louisa whispered in shock. She took a step backwards as her hand flew over to her mouth to prevent the scream that was about to escape from it.

"Hello Louisa, long time no see." Bella greeted with a smile. "May I come?" She asked politely and Louisa gently nodded her head as stepped away from the door for Bella to walk in.

Bella walked into the living room and immediately froze on her spot when she saw Mr. Donovan sitting on one of the sofas, watching TV.

"Louisa who's at the…" He almost choked on his words when he turned and saw Bella standing gracefully just a few meters aways from him. He instantly rose to his feet and bowed down his head as a sign of respect.

"Luna Bella." He called. "Good day to you, Luna Bella." He greeted with his head still bowed down.

"Good day to you, Mr. Donovan. You may lift your head up." She instructed and Mr.Donovan quietly lifted his head up, but he dared not to look her in the face.

"What… what brings you to my humble home, great Luna?" Mr. Donovan asked.

"Bella…I… mean… Luna Bella, please have a seat." Louisa offered but Bella declined with a hand gesture.

"This won't take long. I know it has been a long time since we last saw each other, since everything that happened, happened. However, I have not been able to get over all those things. I have not been able to get over the insults, the beatings I got from you two for mostly nothing and that's why I'm here to ask you…" She looked from Louisa to Mr. Donovan who both had confused looks on their faces. "Why?" She suddenly whispered. "Why did you two treat me with so much disdain? Why did you two treat me like I wasn't a werewolf? Why did you two treat me like I had no right to exist in this world? What did I ever do to you?" She asked in a quiet but serious tone and both Louisa and her father went mute.

Louisa had her head bowed down as she played with her fingers while Mr. Donovan looked at everything but Bella's face.

  "Answer me, please."

"Bella… in my defense, I had no idea what I was doing. I grew up knowing you as someone who was born to serve me. My father told me you were born to serve me, that's why I did all the things I did."

"Louisa you were educated and you knew at some point that what you were doing was wrong. A werewolves sole purpose in life cannot be to serve another werewolf and you know that. You have always known that, so don't give me that excuse because you knew exactly what you were doing and you loved it!" Bella argued and Louisa had nothing else to say.

"Luna Bella, I swear I have no excuse to give you. I was just being wicked because I knew I was powerful and your were weak. Back then I really enjoyed maltreating you, but now, when I look back at all the things I did, I'm ashamed of myself. I can't change the past, I can't take away all the pain I've caused you. All I can do or say is I'm sorry. Please forgive me for everything my daughter and I did to you. Please Luna Bella, forgive us."

"Bella please forgive me for everything I did to you." Louisa pleaded in tears and Bella couldn't take it anymore. She turned on her heels and rushed out of the house all that way to the car.

Once she got in, she burst into tears and cried hard.

Going back there was a huge mistake.
