I stiffened. My heart immediately began to race. All the bitterness I had harbored inside rose to the surface. It bubbled inside in raging waves.

He walked in slowly, like a man inspecting his prey. His face carried no concern. No sympathy. Only twisted amusement. And he shamelessly did not even care to fake anything.

“You look awful,” Vincent said with a cruel little smile. “I never knew karma could humble someone like this.”
