I didn’t need words. Not right now. His presence was enough. And he... all he seemed to have at that moment was nothing but an unreadable expression. But beneath it, I saw a hint of care and pain.

I looked up at him, eyes burning. “You know I didn’t ask for any of this, right?” I whispered.
