The car came to a stop in front of the police station, and immediately, my stomach twisted into a tight, uncomfortable knot. I stared at the tall, grey building, its cold exterior somehow matching the dread rising in my chest. The red and blue lights from the flashing sirens reflected on the wet pavement, casting eerie glows across the walls. Officers gathered near the entrance, their voices low, their postures alert.
