Chapter 2

Davis's POV

I headed to a nearby pharmacy to get a drug for my headache. You must have guessed right, well, I am Doctor.

My name is Davis Lee, one of the triplets of the Lee's family, 26-years-old. I wasn't conscious of where I was heading to, until I bumped into a petite figure.

She looked so fragile and innocent. Her pale face that was hidden under the mask, which looks a bit red and I couldn't differentiate if she was flushed from embarrassment or fever.

She thanked me and I noticed how polite she sounded with her feathery voice. I couldn't keep it to myself and told her to take some rest.

Her eyes showed admiration and I was astonished when she bowed, I couldn't reply as she had turned and left.

I sighed and walked to the pharmacy. I got my drugs and went back to my car. I hopped in and drove to my father's house. He suddenly summoned the three of us to come this afternoon.

I have been at the hospital since yesterday morning, which caused my head to be banging. I arrived at the gate and maneuvered into the garage.

I was greeted by the bodyguards outside the house. The Harrison and the Lee's family had been in competition for years, which had given birth to unforseen hatred between us.

I have only met one of Harrison's daughters before, that is, the eldest. The other daughter had only been seen a few times. I didn't dwell on it and entered the house.

I was surprised to see my Dad, Noah, our eldest brother and Austin, all seated with a seldom expression on.

Austin winked at me when he saw me. I ignored him and walked forward, my Dad and I aren't on good terms. He does anything and everything for fame which irks me for his greediness.

“Good evening,” I greeted nonchalantly and went to sit. Austin continued to wave to get my attention but I didn't spare him a glance.

He was the most playful one amongst us. While Noah was the strict one, always trying to impress our father and it sucks. He does things to be seen as the most filial son.

“I will cut to the chase,” my Dad suddenly said and we all shifted to meet his gaze.

“This is a test for you. Whoever passes, will become the heir of this family,” he asserted and Austin suddenly yawned loudly.

We all turned to look at him and he composed himself instantly, under Noah's scorching gaze.

“I'm sorry,” he mumbled an apology and Dad continued.

Austin knows that he doesn't stand a chance since it would involve Noah and I.

My Dad began explaining and my eyes widened in utter shock at what he just called a test.

“What?!” I shrieked and shut up from my seat.

“Dad, how can you say that casually?” Austin asked in a small tone. While I stood there in disappointment.

I shouldn't have expected less from him. All he cared about was himself, greedy and selfish.

“I will do it, Dad,” Noah declared and I turned to gawk at him.

“You can't be serious. Do you understand the fvck this man is saying?!” I yelled loudly and Noah stood up, calling my name loudly.

“Davis!” We stood neck-to-neck, glaring at each other.

“You fvcking don't mean that,” I said in a shaky voice, looking down at my Dad.

What was he even thinking for coming up with such a nasty idea? All in the name of trying to show the netizens who the superior was.

“Sit,” Dad commanded and Noah obeyed instantly. I was so vexed and felt like punching his face.

“Dad, you haven't answered my question,” Austin reminded him and I looked at the selfish old man in disbelief.

“You ain't gonna do that. It's not possible, that is like an attempted murder. Do you realize how hurt she would feel if she comes to know about this?!” I snapped at him, he continued to gaze at me with an expression devoid of all emotions.

“You are free to back out,” he said in a barely audible voice.

“You are an evil father!”

“Davis!” Noah and Dad called out then I felt a punch landed on my cheeks. I looked up and saw the furious Noah.

I snarled, “For how long will you be his puppet? You and I know that he likes me more, stop fvcking trying to please him!” I fumed frustratedly.

“Enough now, Davis,” Dad said in a menacing tone.

“I am just getting started, old man! What if she was your daughter?!”

“Enough!” He roared loudly as he flinged a glass cup in my direction. I swiftly dodged it and the poor thing landed on the hard marble tiles.

“Just another word from you. And I promise you that you will lose everything…. I guess you know what I mean by everything,” he threatened and I flicked my nose in anger.

This isn't happening. I knew my father to be a greedy and power hungry man, but not to the point of involving an innocent girl in his games.

I ran my fingers through my hair and something crossed my mind. Noah's response to this rang in my head and I gazed at him. No, I have to protect her from this evil brother of mine.

I inhaled and exhaled, racking my brain through different strategies on how to go with my plans.

“I will do it,” I said after a while and I saw my Dad smirking.

“That's my boy,” my Dad said, grinning mischievously.

I saw Noah fisting his balls tightly with his veins bulging out of his forehead. I was really mad at him.

“There will be a business party happening at the end of this week,” he explained and leaned into his chair.

That line he had just said weighed a lot. Austin met my gaze, he looked disappointed that I took this offer. I made a mental note to tell him about my plans later.

But right now, I have to find her. I need to find the youngest daughter of the Harrison's family and free her from my father's clutches.
