Chapter 8 Ruth's Trouble

"Well, he is not back from work yet. So I am waiting to find out who is in that room," Ruth said.

"Okay, Mum. You are right," Ruth replied still holding the phone to her ears sitting in the living room with her legs crossed.

The call ended and Ruth called Angela to the living room.

"Now tell me, who is that in that room?" Ruth asked.

"Ma'am, I am telling the truth. I don't know," Angela replied.

"Are you as useless as you look?" Ruth asked angrily and Angela was silent. "How long have you been working for my brother?" she asked.

"Three years," Angela replied.

"Good, get ready for retirement," Ruth said and stood up.

"Ma'am, I swear to you. I don't know anything. Sir, asked me never to go up to the side of the room. Only one person goes up there but that is just to clean. I only work here, please," Angela said on her knees.

"Now we are getting somewhere. Who cleans that room? Get me the person," Ruth said and sat back down.

Angele left the room immediately and returned with another maiden. Ruth dismissed Angela from her presence and started questioning the maiden.

"Your name?" Ruth asked.

"Por favor?" said the maiden.

"Name," Ruth yelled not understanding her language.

"Ah! Nombre?  Alice," the maiden replied in her Spanish accent smiling.

"Angela, come here quickly," Ruth called Angela, realizing the maiden was not good with English and she couldn't speak Spanish.

"Ma'am," Angela returned to the living room.

"Ask her who is in that room," Ruth said to Angela and Angela turned to look at Alice who was smiling.

"Limpieza de la habitación (room cleaning)," Angela tried to put some words together from the little Spanish she knew and Alice just nodded listening to her.

"La persona, ¿dónde vive? (The person, where does live?)," Angela ended up saying instead of asking; Who is in that room.

"¿Dónde ella vive? No sé (Where she lives? I don't know)" Alice replied shaking her head in a no.

"Aha, what did she say?" Angela asked.

"Errr, Dónde means where. Ella means she," Angela tried to translate Alice's reply.

"I don't have all day," Ruth said.

"I don't know, but she is saying something about 'she'," Angela said.

"Both of you get out of my sight. You are useless," Ruth said and dismissed them.

She got up and was about to leave when she remembered she had a friend who was very fluent in Spanish. She quickly called the person and she answered. After speaking for a while she asked a favour from her friend and gave the details of what she wanted to know and called Alice back to the living room.

"Here, speak with the person," Ruth said and gave her phone to Alice who took the phone from her hand.

"Hola?" Alice said.

Alice was on the phone for 3 minutes and gave the phone back to Ruth. Ruth dismissed her and brought the phone to her ears.

"What did she say?" Ruth asked

"She said the room she cleans, is filled with medical stuff. And there is a bed covered with a blue screen she was never allowed to go near but now the blue screen has been removed and the bed is empty," Ruth's friend replied.

"I see," Ruth said.

"What is this all about?" Ruth's friend asked.

"I will tell you about it later," Ruth said and ended the call.

"Aiden, what are you up to?" Ruth thought and headed for the door.

She exited the apartment and sat in her car driving out of the compound. Meanwhile, inside the apartment, upstairs, Haga gave Ana some sedatives so she was asleep. She waited for Ruth to leave and she called Dr Jerome.

"Hello, Dr. Ms Scott is gone now. I gave Ms Morrison some sedatives. She is in pain and bleeding," Haga reported.

"Bleeding?" Dr Jerome repeated.

"Yes, Dr," replied Haga.

"Okay, I am coming over," Dr Jerome said and quickly spun his car around and headed for Aiden's apartment.

He arrived 15 minutes after the call and hurried into the building. He went straight upstairs and entered Ana's room. He examined Ana.

"No, no, no, she is losing the baby," Dr Jerome said and carried Ana off the bed towards the door.

"Wait, they can't see her," Haga said and covered Ana with the blanket from head to toe.

They both hurried down the stairs. Angela saw the two carrying something covered in a blanket heading for the door but Aiden had warned so she just looked at them and continued her business.

Outside, Dr Jerome laid Ana on the back seat with her head resting on Haga and he quickly got behind the wheel. He drove out of the compound towards the hospital.

"Call Mr Scott," Dr Jerome said and Haga dialled Aiden's number but it quickly went to voicemail. She tried again and got the same results.

"Dr it is not going through," Haga reported.

"Call, the hotel?" Dr Jerome said thinking Aiden was at work and Haga did.

"Hello, good evening. Please I am Nurse Haga. Can you put me through to Mr Scott," Haga said.

"I am sorry, Mr Scott is not at work today. Would you like to leave a message," the receptionist said.

"Please tell him to call Dr Jerome. It is very important," Haga said and the call ended.

"He is not at work," Haga reported and Dr Jerome just nodded.

After a few minutes, they arrived at the hospital and Dr Jerome parked right in front of the hospital entrance and called for assistance. A stretcher was brought out by four medical practitioners and Ana was carried out of the car and placed on it. She was quickly pushed to the emergency. Dr Jerome and Nurse Haga followed while an assistant parked Dr Jerome's car for him.

"Hmmm, so this is what my brother is hiding upstairs. Who is she?" Ruth thought after taking multiple pictures of Ana being moved out of Dr Jerome's car onto the stretcher and into the hospital.

Ruth had just driven out of the estate when she saw Dr Jerome's car entering the estate from a different direction. She decided to park where she was and wait. She saw Dr Jerome's car driving out of the estate and decided to follow him at a close distance. Upon entering the hospital, Ruth entered and parked her car somewhere. She saw the medical staff taking a woman out of Dr Jerome's car and she took pictures from her car.

"Excuse me, ma'am," Ruth was startled and dropped her phone in the car hearing the sudden knock on her car window at the opposite side.

She rolled down her window and stared at the security man angrily.

"Are you going inside the hospital?" the security man asked.

"Is that the reason why you chose to give me a heart attack?" Ruth replied angrily.

"Sorry Ms, but you've parked your car in the way of other users. Do you need help with anything?" the security man asked.

"I don't need your help," Ruth said angrily and brought the car engine to life.

The security man moved out of the way and Ruth drove out of the hospital compound heading for the family house.

It was 15 minutes past 8 p.m. and Aiden had just arrived at California airport going through the checkpoints. His phone buzzed with a message as soon as he turned it on. It was from Dr Jerome. He opened it and read it. He frowned after reading Dr Jerome's message, just then his phone rang and it was his mother.

"Hello, Mum," Aiden said as soon as he answered.

"Aiden, who is that woman in your apartment?" Mrs Scott questioned and Aiden frowned.
